Elete II height

Recommended Posts

Has anyone measured the clearance height of the new 22? I saw a fiver stuck under a train trestle bridge here in Pensacola with the AC unit laying in the road. I assume they were on the way for a vacation trip and this would ruin your day for sure.

I feel bad for those folks. What a way to start a vacation.

I can't speak to the new Legacy II, but we measured our 17 with the high lift, a/c and King dome when we started plans for our new home. We set the height of the side garage door at 10 ft. to allow us to bring the trailer into the garage if we had to. I think we measured at 9'$" at the top of the King Dome, the highest point of our trailer. We've never had to turn around and detour because of a bridge or train trestle, but have to watch the garage eaves carefully at our current house (a 70s ranch style) when we park the Oliver beside the garage in the winter to avoid snagging the solar panels mounted on the side.

The new Oliver has a few more inches interior height, so likely approaches 10 feet if it has a king dome. I'm not sure which a/c unit is used now, nor its height above the Oliver roof.

Will you post measurements & top of roof equipment when you get your new one?

If you download the pdf brochure and scroll dow the page you will see the general specs for height, width and length. With King Dome the Oliver is 9'7". although I will say they really need to fine tune some of their website designs as the brochure does not seem to download as a true pdf file, or at least I couldn't get it to. But the specs are there.

If you have 10 feet of clearance, you will make it. The 9 foot 7 inch spec is what Robert and I measured on mine at the factory one day. We pulled it beneath a roll-up door and lowered the door until it just touched the highest point on the trailer. I then measured the distance from the floor to the bottom of the door with a laser.

Steve, that's really helpful info. And, very precise, as we'd expect from you.

What equipment is on your roof? AC, of course. King Dome? Antenna?

Thanks.

It's pretty full, we have A/C, Maxxfan, Solar Panels, King Dome. The King Dome and the A/C are about the same height. I can't recall which was the highest.

It is worth noting the newer AC units made by Coleman have a much lower profile, more aerodynamic. These are included on the 2015 models.

We spec'd the Dometic Penguin II at 13,500 BTU's. It is a little under 10 inches high.

The king-dome is the highest point on ours. It's at least a foot in height, maybe a few inches taller.

I don't know which model Oliver is using now, but the low profile new model is still about a foot in height.

We don't use ours anymore, as we cancelled the dish contract after the first year, finding we didn't really care about watching tv while traveling. Removing it, however, would leave a big old hole to be refinished in the trailer roof, so it stays, and the ac unit is at least 10 inches tall, so it doesn't make that big a difference in total height of our 17.

That is why I'm going with a TV antenna instead of the king dome. I just want to check the local weather reports. I do have a Dish Tailgater that I may carry. It works pretty well and you have the option of placing it to clear the trees, etc.

I did the same. The Winegard omnidirectional antenna should work just fine for me. I cut the cable cord over a year ago and installed a good antenna at my house. Very happy with our local channels plus Netflix. My total home entertainment bill is $8.99 a month.
