I am purchasing a duel fuel generator.  Would like to run off my Oliver tanks...connecting from the trailer to the generator at the optional tongue LP bib.  As I understand that would be low

pressure as the propane runs through the regulator at the tanks.   I should be able to run a direct hose from the bib to the generator.  If, I decide to run the generator off another LP tank, I

would need another regulator for that independent  tank.  I'm wondering...is there only two pressures, low and high, for LP appliances. (I hope they made this that simple)   Or, does each

appliance have a specific pressure?   And,  you have to purchase the appropriate regulator for the pressure your appliance requires?

    Mark,

I run a Weber Q1200 grill and when needed an LP campfire ring. It beats looking at the ground. 😄Both of those required me to remove the factory regulators and just install quick connects. I simply attach my LP hose to the Oliver quick connect and use the grill or the campfire ring.
I also have a Honda eu3000is which I converted to LP using the HutchMountain.com conversion kit.  This conversion requires a separate regulator to an independent LP tank  so that I can push a button on the regulator and start or prime the LP into the carb. I really like the Hutch Mountain tri conversion and carrying zero gasoline and it burns cleaner. The gen will use three different fuel sources - LP, LNG, or gasoline.  I have not tried running the Honda off the Ollie yet as it is newly converted.

I hope this helps. Others may chime in with further knowledge.

A couple of things I've recently observed about the 890 -

    1.  Just yesterday I found that Garmin has released BOTH a software and a map update.  These do not take too long to download and install but if you have an 890 you might want to think about getting these updates.

2 - The 890 has a "red light or traffic camera" alert feature.  I don't normally pay a bunch of attention to this - particularly when towing - but a recent article I read said that some locals are using Covid relief monies to purchase and install these types of cameras.  Apparently the logic behind this is derived from statistics showing that during the Covid pandemic fatal traffic accidents have increased and these cameras would be a way of slowing or stopping this trend.

    Thanks Bill,

    Just finished the downloads! 👍🏻

I submitted a ticket yesterday and Jason's response was to try to reattach with double sided tape.  If that failed, they would replace.  I supposed that means they would have a local shop replace it?

Last May Oliver service replaced our awning seal under warranty and they also drilled out our awning brackets so they drain properly and they now do. The new awning seal was installed just low enough that there is no longer an issue with water puddling and water drains off as it should.
When washing the roof of our Oliver I did not see any water puddling along the awning seal or brackets as it just drains off the rear of the trailer as designed. When I wash and detail our Ollie I usually have it a little nose high to facilitate water draining off the roof area. The water also drains off when the Ollie is level.

I am fine with how the new seal works now. Regular washing keeps the seal and roof area nice and clean.

I was asked to instruct an informal demonstration on repairing any plumbing issues. I will be bringing some pex tubing and tools used to fix a broken tube or fitting. This will be a hands-on session and anyone who wants to try their hand at it will be welcome to do so. I also plan to demo the proper way to remove and lubricate the cable that controls the black tank sliding gate valve.

    Steve,

We look forward to this! The more we learn the better it gets!

  5. I spoke with Diana at Calmark regarding cleaning the Calmark cover and she sent this attached info to me. And yes we have the black streaks aka air pollution on our cover as well. She said not to place the cover in a washing machine as it will remove the chemicals or special additives that help with repelling water.
I attached the tips and info which she emailed to me today.

    I hope this helps.

    GJ -

I don't know the brand but I do know that Patriot bought something other than the Rock Tamers and has been very happy with them.  Perhaps a PM to him might get you some details.

    Bill

Also - I assume that you have previewed a number of posts here on the Forum concerning ways to protect the front of the Ollie during an Alaska trip.  One that I liked had to do with using semi-permanent tape to hold on rubber padding.  It seemed to do the job while at the same time it was relatively inexpensive and was easily removable.

    Bill,

I am very happy with these “Rock Stoppers” they are made by Livelymachine.com and are designed Super Duty specific. I don’t know if they fabricate Rock Stoppers for other trucks. I can report they work excellent and protect the front of our Ollie and keep it clean. If anyone has questions PM me.

  7. Our country’s electrical grid/infrastructure is ancient and extremely vulnerable to terrorist attack. Or better said it just old and very out dated and would take very little effort by bad actors to take it down. The occasional peak summer power outages resulting in rolling black outs especially in west coast states is noteworthy. (Thankfully we don’t live there).
It seems the cart is before the horse as a new secure and sustainable electrical infrastructure should be a first priority before attempting to over load the existing ancient electrical grid we all presently rely on.

Interestingly enough Fords CEO went to congress recently to ask/beg for go green EV tax incentives to attract buyers to new EVs is a bit telling. It’s hard to imagine ICE going away anytime soon.  Interesting times for sure.

On a more humorous note…😂 I will be ordering one soon.

What was the cost for the Ollie job?

    Charlie

I special ordered the 10 mil material directly from XPEL, I think it was a 5x10’ roll, to cover specific areas on our Ollie. I supplied the material to our installer who cut and installed it. I honestly can’t remember exactly what the install cost was for the Ollie. At the time as we also had our TV done, so it was combined price. I would have to review my file.

Your best bet is to consider getting an estimate from your local XPEL dealer. I can tell you it’s not cheap. XPEL 10 mil is a special order PPF but it really protects the gel coat when installed properly. Find a really experienced well trained installer that does high end cars and you will likely be happy with his work.

  10. We recently had our new F350 Super Duty completely covered in XPEL 8 mil PPF (paint protection film) and had XPEL’s Ceramic Fusion Plus applied over the PPF. The results are amazing with regard to an amazing shine that pops, shedding water and ease of washing the truck. We have had XPEL PPF installed on all of our cars and trucks over the last decade It’s held up extremely well. We even had areas of the front of our Ollie covered in 10 mil PPF. It’s all about the install.

After Questionmark (Mark and Cyndi’s terrible incident I have been seriously thinking about dash cams.   It looked like their dash cam had good resolution.  Does any one have preferences on what would be a good dash cam?

Sent you a PM on a dash cam I recently purchased and will use.
It’s a perfect fit for the Super Duty if you have the auto dimming rear view mirror.

Thank you Mountainman, topgun and Patriot for your responses.

Just saw this note you left. My installer use to install 3m but found it would with some installs begin to orange peel and yellow after a few years. He no longer installs 3m.
XPEL has a 10 yr install and warranty on fading or peeling or orange peeling if professionally installed.
Just thought I would mention this if your still considering p/p. So far our 10 mil XPEL on the Oliver has held up excellent.

One of the reasons we're going to purchase the 2022 Tundra is increased payload capacity compared to our previous 2016 5.7L Tundra. Like how the new Tundra is built with lighter materials in some areas increasing payload like Ford did with the F150.

Some folks are waiting for the new Hybrid Tundra, too.

As far as the battery location goes, it will not present an issue if I need to replace it.

Looks like the double cab rear seat is larger on the 2nd generation compared to the 3rd generation, that's why we're buying the CrewMax larger cab version

We're buying a SR5 "work truck" model, without many of the available electronic features with 32 gallon fuel tank. but understand why many buyers may want new technology features. Buying this truck as an Ollie TV and daily driver work truck.

After required break in mileage, looking forward to towing with the new rear suspension coil springs, V6TT with maximum torque achieved at low RPMs for a gas engine  and to see towing fuel economy improvements.

The new Tundra may not be for everyone, but looking forward to seeing how it performs as Ollie's new TV!

    Bill,

I believe your new 2022 Tundra Crew Max will be a fine tow vehicle and we are looking forward to seeing yours!

The expert key board “nay sayers” and “joy stealers” for some reason seem to take a level of pleasure in raining on the parade of how some folks choose to spend their money. Quite frankly some of the needless negative vibes on this forum continues to really get old. This could reflect why some owners just “ghost” the forum and don’t engage in posting.

A few thoughts - If you don’t have something decent, kind, helpful and really positive to add in comments maybe just pause and please don’t feel compelled to respond, maybe use a little restraint…or better yet just keep scrolling!
We are all in this together!

    Happy Camping!
