I found that cover, after using it do you recommend it over another brand?

    https://www.amazon.com/YardStash-Bicycle-Cover-Bikes-Trikes/dp/B07RV63ZY3?th=1&psc=1

What stretchy net do you use?

I normally don’t cover my ebike since we camp in dry climates, but we are headed to the Oregon coast in a month…. I would like to have the ability to cover it when we encounter soaked roads while towing…

    Thanks.

    John,
I have not used any other cover except this one. So I have nothing to compare it to. It came highly recommended by a cyclist friend and after checking out the reviews I actually purchased (2). I thought I was going to double cover the bikes and and figured out I could but did not need to. So now I keep one as a spare. The online reviews also are pretty solid. So far this cover really helps keep our bikes clean and dry and protects them from UV and prying eyes.

The cargo net works good at keeping the cover from billowing while under way. The down side with the elastic cargo netting is a PIA to untangle when you initially remove it. If you decide to order it you will see what I mean. That said, it serves the purpose intended for. So whenever I cover the bikes with the yard stash cover the cargo netting follows. So far this combination has worked very well. Naturally if you’re only covering one bike an XL Yard Stash cover may work depending on your bike size.

    Nice Ebike by the way!

Does the license plate relocation kit only work for 1 Up bike racks?

How did it connect to the Ollie bumper?

The 1Up license plate relocation kit is designed specifically for 1Up bike racks. I feel sure that it will work on any 1Up bike rack sold. There are pre drilled holes and it bolts right up.

  3. One thing really important I would suggest you consider adding to your checklist or maybe I over looked it.

Consider adding a check to make sure your TV and Oliver’s electronic brake setting is in sync.

How to Adjust Trailer Brake Controller: 6 Steps
1    Step 1: Plug in the Trailer Wiring Harness. ...
2    Step 2: Allow the Brake Controller to Calibrate. ...
        3    Step 3: Select Personal Settings. ...
4    Step 4: Set the Maximum Output. ...
5    Step 5: Adjust the Sensitivity Level. ...
6    Step 6: Manually Activate Brakes as Needed.

    Happy and Safe Travels!

I don’t know what TV you are going to be using if you purchase an Oliver or any TT for that matter. I can say that having really large electronically adjustable defrosting featured tow mirrors is one of the nicest visual tools to have when towing. The wonderful feature we enjoy when towing the Oliver is it’s only the width our TV and we do not have to extend our Ford Super Duty mirrors at all. The lower blind spot mirrors are an invaluable tool as well.
In my experience larger mirrors are very critical to a safer towing experience. You will find they are a really invaluable and you will come to really appreciate larger tow mirrors when backing into a campsite especially in low light conditions.
If you’re open to suggestions, consider going to a truck dealer of your choosing and sit it a truck with large tow mirrors and then compare it to a truck with standard mirrors. It’s a 💯 game changer.

Just another thing to consider about when you decide on a TV.

  5. Interesting…
This June 16th we will have our owned our Oliver 3 years. We have not experienced any unusual glue, resin or strange orders in our hull or interior since we took delivery. At delivery we had a very faint odor of resin which dissipated or off gassed pretty quickly within the first few days. Oliver really did an amazing job of cleaning our interior.

@Wayfinder I hope you can locate the source of your issue.

  6. 1Up USA also sells the optional license plate relocation kit which I also installed. This allows for our license plate to be legally visible when we cover our bikes during travel. The XXL Yard Stash covers work great in keeping our bikes clean and dry. We have driven through some strong rain storms and they get the job done.

  7. I was on the 1Up USA website and noticed they now sell cargo carriers. So I decided to post up a link in case anyone is considering a cargo carrier for their Ollie. We have the 1Up Super Duty (2) bike rack and are very pleased with the fit, finish and fitment.

These cargo carriers look really nice. USA made! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I am not an engineer, but your comments make perfect sense and it would seem that it's not a good idea.  We had a bike rack fail.  Lucky for us it was 1/4 mile from home after a 4000+ mile trip.  We were going slow so no damage to cars behind us.  I want an over engineered rack and want to error on the side of caution.

    John

    @John Welte

    Hey John,

Sorry to hear about your bike rack failure what brand bike rack was it? It might be helpful for others to know. Here is the rack we are using and are extremely happy with. It is pricey but I think the best made engineered two bike rack for the Oliver. We and other owners have logged several thousand miles with bikes on this rack with zero issues. Our bikes loaded including the rack itself weigh right at 107# well below the Oliver bike rack limit of 150#.  A plus with the aluminum finish is looks and blends in well with the Oliver rear bumper. As stated in my previous post it will require a mod to the Oliver factory receiver.

Hope this helps, happy and safe cycling.

While the reach is problematic, removing and replacing the condensation layer, the heavy latex bed, foam topper and the bedding is the bigger problem solved. Oh, do I dare mention the 5 pillows my wife keeps on the bed?

5 pillows…well I suppose that can be a challenge. 😁 Good for you to come up with a solution!

We have carried our Yamaha EF3000iSEB 3000 Watt Generator in the front basket for the past 15 years. It weighs well over 150 pounds when fueled. I can easily lift it by myself and place it into the basket!  😊

Gotta love a mini hoist along with the TV where tongue weight is not a concern with the gen basket loaded. Nice work!

While working with John Halter was a pleasure, it was nice to have a number of questions to ask, and it was helpful to have warnings about installation issues.

    @MobileJoy

I agree John Halter was more than helpful when I had a few questions about this install/mod.

One of the best most memorable dinners we enjoyed at MB was here - https://www.seacaptains.com

The food and dinning area view of the Atlantic was excellent!

I own both the Champion 3500W and now the 2500W Generator.

I wanted to mod both to run off the Quick Connects from the Oliver...and also still have the ability to quickly setup with stand alone propane tanks for other applications.

Both use the 2500W and 3500W us a dual stage regulator propane hose (one with the little finger, one without.)

The first stage small regulator  connects to a standard propane tank with the larger plastic ACME fitting.
The first stage regulator knocks down the high pressure from  stand alone propane tanks in prep for the larger diameter second stage regulator.

This second stage (much larger size) provides a more precise regulation needed for the generator under various load situations. Stage 2 is really a flow regulator. It doesn't change pressure, it just restricts the amount of gas that flows into the generator. Without it you basically flood the generator with gas and it won't start.

To make the Generator work with the quick connects from the trailer, one must remove that smaller first stage regulator.

The Oliver Quick connects are already regulated to the correct pressure for the larger second stage regulator on the generator propane cable shipped with the Champion Dual Fuel Generators.

In my case, I've disassembled the original dual stage and broken it into two pieces at the coupler between the stage 1 and stage 2 regulators.

    1) The second stage regulator has been modified to have a quick connect male feeding into the larger regulator.  That stage 2 regulator now connects to my long extension hoses that attach to the female quick connects on the trailer.

    2) The first stage regulator is then coupled to a FEMALE quick connect for re-use with stand alone propane tanks.

Shown below:  First stage regulator with ACME fitting is modified to have a female quick connect coupler.

The benefit of this mod is that I still am able to use stand alone 20lb propane tank by coupling the modified smaller regulator to the tank, and the larger stage 2 regulator hose to that this modified coupler.

Congratulations Steve and Deb! Now the fun begins in earnest. Sounds like you have a well thought out plan. That brings up a couple questions for me. We have a delivery date of April 18 based on the original invoice information. How accurate is that date and can we expect more of a window as far as pick up date? And with that question I wonder how late we can make reservation and David Crocket not knowing the exact schedule at this point being three weeks out? Thanks for you help and most of all, enjoy and safe travels!

    Chris,

Our sales rep coordinated closely with us on the details of delivery day. Yours should as well. As you get closer to your delivery day your sales rep will email you confirming your delivery date other details and and hopefully info on a reservations at DCSP.
Oliver usually has a few campsites set aside at David Crocket SP solely for new owners. Hopefully they are still doing this but you may want to ask your sales rep and confirm. We took delivery June 16, 2020 and we stayed at DCSP. We enjoyed this park.
I believe our first night at David Crockett was compliments of Oliver. You can add a few extra days on your dime. Think hard about staying a few extra days at DCSP  (highly recommended) this will give you time to give your Ollie a really good systems shakedown, push every button! If you have any “shake down” issues you can head right back to Oliver Service and get them addressed before heading home or beyond.

Your special day is right around the corner and approaching fast!

The team at a Oliver will go to great strides to get you taken care of, that I can tell you.

    - David

  14. After each trip when returning home we empty our fresh tank. We refill again with home tap water the day we depart on our next trip. We sanitize usually once a season. We do not drink water from our fresh tank. We carry plenty of bottled water.

These are some great mods to the propane set up.  I chose a slightly different locking mechanism (since I had it left over from my AS days) and I didn't like the way the regulator assembly was just placed on the threaded rod. SO, I went and got two 1/2" nuts and matching washers to secure the regulator assembly to the rod by itself. Then I installed my "GAS STOP" devices and my Mopeka tank monitor sensors. Finally, I got my Torklift Fortress tank lock in place.  Picture below along with second pic of tank monitor wall mount console.

I’m wondering  if it’s worth carrying a spare.   It’s on my long list of potential spare parts that I don’t have, that could really mess up a nice camping trip.  Are they easy to find on the road, Camping World etc?   Do many of you carry a spare, or don’t bother?

A spare is always a good thing. I plan on bumping up to a little larger LP regulator like @GraniteStaters mentioned in another post.  This is to avoid having any issues with running other LP appliances while running the generator. I will keep the old as a spare. They are easily found on Amazon or other vendors with a quick google search.

I changed out the original regulator on our LEII and went with a larger capacity regulator to allow for more concurrent usage.  I kept the original regulator as a spare.

    GraniteStaters,
Sounds like a really good idea. Has this addressed the low flow issue of running multiple LP appliances at the same time off the QC?

Can you share the model and specs of the larger regulator and where you purchased.

    Thanks!

How many linear feet did you use for the beds, dog house and spare tire cover?  I am guessing something like 30 feet.  Thanks.

    John

    Hi John,

It’s been awhile since I did this mod, I think I ordered 20 or 25’. I did not put this edging on the rear spare tire cover only the bed rail edges and dog house. It would seem that 30’ would get the job done.

After replacing the protective strip around the “dog house” LPG tank cover, I realized I ordered enough for the spare tire cover.  So after removing the cover when accessing the tire, I can place it flat on any surface without dinging the edge on sharp rocks or debris.  It may seal the compartment a bit better now also.

    Nice job!
Here is a where you can ordered the edging off Amazon. 😊I used this on the edge of the dog house aka propane tank hood as well. And decided to use it on the fiberglass edges of the twin beds.
