Dexter Axle Upgrade Options - To EZ or NevR Lube Design
Patriot replied to Geronimo John's topic in General Discussion
Hey Gary, I highly recommend you give Lew at Alcan a call and let him know what you’re wanting to do. He will give you a quote right on the phone. 👍🏻🇺🇸 Here you go -https://www.alcanspring.com/ -
It’s always a good idea to ocasdionally check ALL your pex compression fittings for tightness especially during or after a long trip. Just a little hand snug, no need to over tighten or you risk replacing a cracked fitting. Safe Travels!

I agree, although I think disc brakes add a “cool factor” and are likely much easier to service I have never had an issue with the drums or have no plans to spend the $$$ to replace mine. While in descent on some of the steepest declines (fully loaded to camp) out west such as Wolf Creek Pass and Teton Pass, I let the 6.7 Power Stroke diesel engine brake work its magic and rarely had to use my brakes. Very impressive to say the least. Suffice to say, Ford nailed it with the 10 speed and the engine brake in my experience. I do recall a time when there were folks being pulled over in Rocky Mtn NP and having their brakes checked with infrared thermometers, then were told to stand by and to allow their brakes cool. We were stopped very briefly and then waived through, they never even checked our brakes. Park Rangers obviously knew a little bit about the diesel engine braking system and they waived us on. Based on these experiences I don’t see a need for disc brakes ever with our present TV. With a half ton TV, I can see the interest certainly in the name of safety. -

Our Alcan experience was seamless, they are that good. Dropped our Oliver off at 7:30 on install day, went and grabbed a great southwest breakfast in town at Cafe Sol. Gotta a call at 0930 just as we were finishing our meal that our 5 leaf pack, HD wet bolts, and HD shackles install was finished🤩. Lew and his crew knocked it out of the park. Worth every penny to have Alcan do the professional install and continue on our journey. Love our new running gear! Glad they got you squared away jd! -

Our flag flys 24/7 here at our home, not just on holidays. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 🫡 Nothing like “Air Superiority” which wins wars.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 -
I think there were (3) left when I placed my order. They sold out fast!

Yes, I caught that in a few reviews I read as well. Not a show stopper…just a speed bump. 👍🏻

I quickly discovered after opening the box that no condensate hose was packed with the above dehumidifier. So I shot a quick txt to @Ollie-Haus who confirmed I should have received one. A quick run over to Lowe’s and I found a piece of tubing that would work to drain the condensate into our gray tank. This hose eliminates having to drain the tank every 4 or 5 days. Here is my fix and the hose part # if you should receive this unit with no condensation drain hose. This new tubing fit snug, but I still opted to add the small radiator clamp. Caution no need to over tighten just snug the clamp up. After tightening the clamp, maybe give the hose a little tug to be sure it’s tight enough that it won’t pull off. Here is the unit buttoned up after the new hose install. I cut the hose length to 4’ so I can use it either on galley counter top or on the shower floor. My bride/copilot already has a storage spot in the closet ready to transport this while underway.

Where Are The Jack Points?
Patriot replied to Tony and Rhonda's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@Tony and Rhonda Tony, no apology needed brother, we are all in this together and passing info forward is what it’s all about. Forum thread searches are not always seamless, don’t ask me how I know 😄. Many times I just open source google a specific topic of interest regarding Oliver TT and it pops right up on Google. Thank you for posting this up! -
Amazon delivered this today. As soon as my bride/copilot saw it she said “that will get it done. We store our Oliver here at home plugged in 24/7. Instructions say allow the unit to sit upright for 2 hrs. Not being in a rush, and taking solid advice from @Ollie-Haus. It arrived really well packaged and in its original box in side another Amazon box. It did not arrive upright in the box. (pic) I will let this “humidity eater beast” sit overnight upright to allow the all fluids to drain back properly. We are looking forward to firing this up and giving it a shake down right here at home and then afield. Let’s just say the humidity level is what we call “swampy high” right now with this heatwave. Thanks Chris for the recommendation! 👍🏻

Where Are The Jack Points?
Patriot replied to Tony and Rhonda's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
@Tony and Rhonda I cannot speak for early model Olivers, but our Hull #634 has labels for all jack points on the frame. I clearly remember being told by Oliver Service to use these jack points (pic) and NEVER the axle as a jack point as you risk possibly damaging the axle. So per Olivers advise, I never use the axle as a jack point or place jack stands supporting the axle. Some owners will use the levelers as a jack to change a tire. Again not recommended by Oliver likely and most wisely for liability reasons especially if the leveler should fail. But what could possibly go wrong? 🤷♂️ Rather than go down the 🐰rabbit hole, here is an old thread talking about all things jacking up your Oliver. You may find it interesting and entertaining. According to the link below earlier models had a shorter frame and as a result no jack point marker/decals. Stating the obvious here, it’s a good idea to always keep your tow vehicle coupled to the trailer when lifting it. Here is the jack that lives in my TV and for our Oliver. It has strong reviews and it happens to be on sale now. -https://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-620471-6000Lb-Unijack/dp/B00GJJZ5NI/ref=srj -
How many different KEY's do you have?
Patriot replied to Dave and Kimberly's topic in General Discussion
We always have a complete set of duplicate keys with us. 😎 “Two is one and one is none”. 🫡 🇺🇸 I can honestly say 5 years in and thousands of miles of travel, fortunately, we have never have lost or misplaced our keys. -
Great looking rig Bill! Nothing like our NC Blue Ridge Mtns! Blessed to live here!

Like others have said, sorry this happened and hope you get back up and running soon. Lew at Alcan will get you squared away with new springs and even a pair of 5200# never lube axles if you are so inclined. I suggest the heavy duty shackles and wet bolts that Alcan sells if you decide to go this route. Safe travels!

@Ollie-Haus Hey Chris, Based on your in-depth positive review and recommendation I just placed an order.👍🏻 No more dehumidifier 🥵 envy! Thanks! 🤣 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7MMW6S5?

Agree Mike, we hope this does not set a precedent. Here in NC we have a fuel tax at 40.3 cents per gallon that is supposed to be a source of key funding for road construction and maintenance. Then we also have an inspection tax of 0.0025 cents per gallon. 🤔

We typically try and stay off interstates when we are traveling. We much prefer the roads less traveled and always try and avoid toll roads. Let’s hope this idea does not get traction in other states. Another money grab! 😏 https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/indiana-becomes-first-state-to-approve-tolling-on-all-interstates/3771725/

Navigation in 2025; smart phone via car play, traditional GPS or other
Patriot replied to routlaw's topic in Towing an Oliver
We always have paper maps with us. With the flick of a switch for national security reasons the country’s national GPS system can be degraded or intentionally interrupted or even turned off. Sadly many drivers that can’t read a map or don’t carry a map are oblivious to this. I am a huge advocate of our TST -TPMS system. Unless you have X-ray eyes 👀 😂 and can see all things going on with your tires inside and out, I don’t completely trust just a visual walk around. And we all know the likely hood of a blow out at a gas station or pull off is remote. It’s usually when you’re clicking off the miles on the “superslab” and hopefully you’re not in the hammer lane when your tire decides to grenade. I think @topgun2 can share a story about a blow out he had on a previously owned SOB camper and experienced such a situation. I will stick with our TPMS monitoring air pressure and tire temps along with a visual inspection of our rigs tires when we fuel up. Solid technology to help keep us rolling safely.
