I can't find any work by them about wind turbines. 😞 I wonder how noisy they are! how far away would you need to be? We are on 3 acres, share another 4 with my brother directly adjacent, and the next nearest neighbor is several acres away (I know that's not a real distance measurement, it's just an easy reference, haha) Hey, maybe we can put up a wind wall by our pond and keep the geese off of it! Good reference, thank you! might be a fun project! As usual, you all are a wealth of information. To your collective points about where to get "clean" air on the property, we'd have to go quite high to get above the cottonwoods, but the land is open to the south, from whence our biggest winds come. I will look at a wind map, good point. I guess I liked the idea of being able to generate at night when solar can't. Wish we could do some hydro generation, the land is in Colorado, where you don't mess with "other peoples' water". I'll keep poking around, it's a fun thought exercise at least.

I don't find this discussed, but I was thinking it might be possible to use the portable Zamp port with a portable wind turbine. We are parked for extended periods on our vacant property where the winds can get to really going, especially at night. I thought it might be a viable supplement to the solar. Anyone?

I thought I'd seen a picture somewhere of your setup and true to form, I can't find it. Derrick at BB said I can "just drop the batteries in and change the settings on the charge controller and converter" but I don't think that's completely true, I think they need to be secured in some way. I've seen a couple of different configurations and was looking for your picture to remind myself of what the two battery tie downs looked like. It looks like our J hooks are rubbing *a little bit* on our AGMS but not catastrophic like some others have posted. Could those be re used? I'm no electrician, but I do think if I can build some confidence in how to secure them, I can certainly swap them out myself without having to go to a shop. I see where the LI-WIZ jumper is on our PD4000, seems super easy and changing the battery type on the charge controller is also easy

@SpikeI saw a Houghton installed in a SOB trailer about 2 years ago when they were super hard to come by, glad you were able to secure one, they really are so so so much quieter! We have the soft start in our A/C, but we try to stay out of places where we need it! 🙂 Battleborn tells me that likely I can just drop batteries in, that my components likely are compatible with them (I have to go get the model number off our our PD4000 to verify). I think I might go that route for now then if it's not optimal, upgrade later. Thanks for all your good information, I saw someone else post that they squeezed four of them into theirs. I don't think we really *need 4, might be able to get by on 2, but I'd be more comfortable with 3. I agree with you about how helpful the folks in this forum are! They're amazing! I like that your hull is #222 and that you are also in Arizona! 🙂

Yes, that was me. That issue was related to not having a bonded plug for the generator (we were boon docking in colder weather). However, we started noticing in November that in full sun all day, the batteries were not getting back to full charge, so, yes, this has been going on for a while. Our trailer has been in storage since Thanksgiving and I only went back to check on it when I posted this thread having found the batteries all the way down and low voltage getting into the trailer. I set our timer to have power on from dusk to dawn (shh, don't tell the manager!) and am seeing that indeed, the batteries are still not getting back to full charge. Probably should do as you suggested and pull them to have them load tested.

Lithium Pro Package vs Solar Pro Package

@mossemi thanks for the link, that guy is pretty enthusiastic! 😄 I actually appreciated his interview with the CEO of BB even more than the deconstruction of the battery itself, it was super informative! -
Lithium Pro Package vs Solar Pro Package
Liana replied to John Dorrer's topic in Welcome To The Oliver Travel Trailer Forums
This thread is super helpful/useful, even the good side path it took! For those who have BattleBorns, why did you choose those over SOB? -
@SeaDawg, yes, 13.1 along with the flashing dash indicates charging, and yes, I do think our solar panels were capturing *some sunlight. The trailer is under a cover but exposed on the west side, so when the sun gets past that point, *some light gets to them. That's been our experience all along, that this solar system starts charging with the slightest hint of daylight. It is still a mystery to me why the voltage into the system a few days prior was so low, but I do hope that when I go back the batteries are all the way back to full charge.
-
@SeaDawg, @mossemi, the plot thickens. I went back today (again during non charging hours) and found the Zamp reading 13.1. I went to the power source and turned on the power, and the EMS was reading E0, 60H, 1A, and 122v. Zamp showed 3 out of four bars solid with the fourth flashing. I left the power on and will go back in the morning to see where we are. This is why electrical stuff confounds me!
-
Really good information, all, thank you very much.
-
Thank you, @SeaDawg, I knew there was more information I was supposed to be giving! We have the Trojan AGMs, (yes, I'm suspicious of their age, have said as much to spouse). Zamp monitor, PD converter charger. Our solar has always produced *some charge with the smallest hint of daylight, the trailer is partially covered, gets afternoon sun, but as you pointed out, never directly onto the panels. So the 112v is ok? I thought I saw someone else post elsewhere that it should be higher. I tried to say I was there during non charging time and turned the power on myself. The facility gives everyone one of those timers that starts at dusk and runs for 2 hours, so I suspect you're right that everyone is charging at the same time. So, I'm discerning from everyone's help that it is likely a combination of age of batteries with insufficient daily charge time. I hinted to spouse that we may need to consider the lithium route, I guess it's time to jump down that rabbit hole...

2018 LE2, #333 I've searched the FB pages and Forum, and do not see this specific issue, so I did look first! I only know enough about this electrical system (or any electrical system for that matter) to be dangerous. so I'm no good at extrapolating the information that is already here. My apologies if I'm causing you to roll your eyes! Our trailer is stored where it is plugged in and receives 2 hours of charge per day. Went by today and found the batteries at 12.0 volts (during the non-charging part of the day) Turned on the power, display jumped to 14.3, which as I understand the chart in the PD manual, is normal super boost mode, then later dropped to 13.6, also supposedly normal. EMS was displaying E0, 60 H, and 112 (volts I assume) that dropped to 111 before I was done in there. I'm at a loss as to why the batteries discharged to 12.0. (I did pick up from the Forum I think that I need a bigger ga extension cord and no longer than 25 feet) So given the above, I'm stretched to understand why when I turn the power on, all seems normal (maybe except the 112 v? maybe should be higher?) but loss of charge over time. The trailer is in storage, but not fully covered, solar should be picking up at least some charge over time. There should not be any parasitic draw, nothing is on (I did turn the Main Cabin lights on when I went in there, but nothing was on before that.) I'll be grateful for insights, I know there are a bunch of electrical wizards here!

how to repair a chip in the fiberglass
Liana replied to Liana's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
John, I've researched those towel bars, they don't have the Usual set screws. They have a little tab that the holder snaps on to. The street Side one has never come off, only the One to the inside. Its tab seems to Have some wear on it, so, yes, it needs to be Replaced. PS, I Have no idea why my phone is rAndomly capitalizing letters! -
I haven't seen This addressed but surely it's happened to someone else (I did search the forum) We have one of those infernal towel bars that "secure" to their brackets with A snap fit. Well, ours doesn't stay snapped, I've had to reattach it dozens of Times. The most recent time the holder dropped and took a sizable chunk of fiberglass out of the lav floor. I presume it's unwise to leave it that way, but recommended repair? I don't Want to do anything that will look bad but also don't Think moisture getting in there would be good.
-
I'll look at ours next time the wind dies down to see if I've been missing this. I don't think it's our issue but it's worth looking at

Thank you for pointing me to that thread! I, like others, found the pictures incredibly helpful!

So I have this leak in this faucet and got as far as getting the handle off, but can't see how to get any further. It seems that there are two more parts needing to be removed before I can lift the cartridge out, but I can't figure out how to get the cap and washer between the handle and cartridge off. All the videos I've seen have had no trouble with any of that

How to Replace a Broken Bathroom Door Mirror?
Liana replied to DonnaDuane's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I thought the mirrored acrylic in the lav overhead cabinet would be a good substitute. I'll have to search for a vendor, per Jason in service -
Our Carefree manual awning has stopped retracting all the way. The forward end goes in leaving about a 1/8th in gap, the rear about 1/4 inch. Is there something we can adjust on it to help it go back to closing flush?

Duane, what lesson did you learn? Our mirror broke yesterday but I don't know that I did anything that I should learn to do differently -
Resolving Three Issues with Ollie Window Shades
Liana replied to Spike's topic in Ollie Modifications
Two of these on the same frame pulled out like this. I put #10 screws instead of #8 (the #10 heads fit just fine) but there's nothing preventing the same thing happening with those- 35 replies
