We have a small white board mounted inside the pantry door with On Command strips. It’s good for reminders. I don’t think I’d write anywhere else. Mike

I can turn my inverter on but not off. To turn it off I have to remove the remote on/off switch and on the back move the switch from “disable ACC” to “enable” which turns it off. Then I can move it back to disable and can turn it back on, just not off. When it is on, the on/off switch on the inverter itself won’t turn it off either. There are no error codes and when it is on everything works normally. Since we’re here at Quartzsite, I took my switch to another Oliver and it worked fine. I took the switch from the other Oliver and plugged it into my inverter and it would not turn it off either. So, I don’t think it is the remote switch, especially since the switch on the inverter doesn’t work either. Is anyone else having this problem? I’m going to call the support number at Xantrex tomorrow. I read through everything on their web site and they don’t address this issue. Mike

There are quite a few Ollie’s here. We passed one leaving as we pulled in yesterday. A group of about 16 of us had dinner together last night, to include Jim and Yvonne Oliver. It was quite a rowdy group and lots of fun. Mike

The BF Goodrich tires on the older models have a max inflation of 80 PSI. Mike

We are in Benson now, will arrive in Quartzsite this afternoon. Will be looking for the gang of Ollie’s.... Mike

I balanced after having the rubber stems replaced with metal stems and with the TPMS sensors mounted. I checked them this afternoon (leaving for Quartzsite in the morning) and there was no sign of abnormal wear and no wear difference between the four tires. 2 years and 22K miles. My trailer started out as a 2015 so has the BF Goodrich tires. My plan is to replace them in about 3 years. I’m sure they will have plenty of tread left. No plans to rotate. I do rotate the tires on my Ram and Audi S3 on a regular basis. Mike

You can get plastic shims that are used to level fountains and bird baths. I think I got mine at Home Depot. Mike

Is tire rotation really necessary? Mine are 2 years old with about 22K miles. They still look new. My plan is to replace all four tires after about five years, leaving the spare alone. When I installed my TPMS I went to my local tire shop to have the rubber stems replaced with metal stems and to rebalance each wheel. I used the trailer jacks to lift each side to remove the tires. Yes, we know how the story ends! We looked at Airstreams too, learned about Oliver and the rest is history. Welcome to the group and enjoy the journey - Mike

Day One: A Successful 4-Season Test

We’ve found having the hot water tank on and the furnace going was enough to keep things ok while temps are in the 20s. I remember the week we were at Fort Huachuca last January when you saw our trailer, the temperatures were in the 20s for a several nights and we were fine. Mike -

Welcome to the group! I thought I’d be an Airstreamer too. No regrets here. Mike -
We had 3 Olivers here. We had lunch with them along with Bugeyedriver. They headed west this morning toward Quartzsite, we will follow next week. Mike

Welcome to our neighborhood and brief winter weather!

I was sipping my wine as I typed! We’re doing lunch tomorrow. A whole group of frozen Oliver peeps!

Yesterday we were in the mid 60s. The forecast was for 20s and freezing precipitation for today and tomorrow before getting back up to normal. Yesterday here in San Antonio school closings were announced for today in anticipation of bad weather. Same in Houston. Today, I-10 and I-35 have been closed. We have maybe 1/16” of ice. It snowed for 10 minutes. It’s 25 degrees. Most folks are home for a day or so and everything is basically shut down. We have some chili in the crockpot. Fire in the fireplace. Is this how you’re supposed to do winter? ???? Mike

Rdunlap welcome! Let us know if we can help or provide you any info. We’re a friendly group. Mike

Paul and Donna, welcome and congratulations on your upcoming retirements! We too were first time RV owners so we had a steep learning curve as well. Since we are list people we looked at a number of checklists folks had posted to come up with our own. Then we started accumulating trailer stuff before our pick up date. It’s like moving into a small house - bedding, cooking things, dishes, cleaning stuff, etc. Our trailer has its own set of stuff so it is ready to go, less food and clothes. Latch on to some owners at the rally and see what they have and what they carry around. Some things will work for you and some won’t. We all seem to have different camping and traveling styles. Also ask about arrival and departure routines. We’d be happy to spend some time with you at the rally to show and discuss. Mike

I agree with everything Bill said. I got the Andersen because I initially towed with a Tacoma and felt the need for a WD hitch with the smaller truck. I still use it with my Ram even though it has 10K+ capacity. Once you figure it out it’s quick and easy to hitch and unhitch. The folks at Andersen have been very responsive to issues. Mike

This is what we have. Run it on propane. Quiet. It is heavier than the Honda. Mike

We just did a tour in December. It started at 10:00 and ended at about 1:15. Mike

Frank, hoping for a quick recovery/resolution. Mike -
Could they have been frozen in position and when you went to raise them you blew fuses? That’s the first thing I would check. Mike

We hope to be there before the end of the Big Tent show. -
We went with the AGMs just because I didn’t want to mess with water levels. There may be technical reasons pro/con but I went with convenience. Mike
