  1. I hereby nominate Steve as the official Oliver Travel Trailer Historian!
  2. Colorado Springs this week. Weather is good except for haze from the fires further west.
  3. We got pictures during our build but they were not as busy as they are now. I think Anita snapped pics while giving tours and then emailed them out. Hopefully it will become part of the build process. It's fun to see the work being done! Mike
  4. Great job on the graphics! The big one on the front does give instant recognition! Mike
  5. Like Bill, we use the Andersen and like it. Not much detail to go on here, but it sounds like an adjustment or set up issue. I'd send a PM to Sage, he was quick to respond to me when I had questions. Mike
  6. We didn't have the instant option when we ordered. The tank has been just fine. If we're hooked up to electricity, which is the majority of the time, we have plenty of hot water. If not, the tank heats up pretty fast on propane and stays hot for quite a while. I'm not sure what the price difference is but if it's a lot more for the instant and I was ordering for us, I'd get the tank. Mike
  7. I still have mine and have thought about removing it. I'm not sure it does much good. It does collect debris and is hard to clean. Will be interested in what others have experienced. Mike
  8. Darrell and Kathy, welcome to the family! We've found that our Oliver has just the right amount of space for long trips with very few maintenance issues. You'll find support from the Oliver folks is top notch. Mike
  9. There's not much around NYC. Just north of the city is a state park, Beaver Park Campground. It's just off the Pallisades Parkway (Hwy 9W) near Big Bear Mountain. Probably 30 or 40 minute drive down the parkway to Tappan Zee bridge across the Hudson into the city. There's also a park on the other side of the Hudson at Croton Park. The area just north of NYC is scenic in the fall. We were there last October. Mike
  10. As far as I know the Andersen is the only WDH that fits the Oliver.
  11. We dodged most of it too. We have our son and family here since their neighborhood is under water. We also have their good friends here who also managed to get out at the last minute. 4 adults, 3 little kids and 3 big dogs. It's a party! They've got some great stories about neighbors helping neighbors. It's hard to imagine what is happening just 3 hours away. Mike
  12. When my trailer was new and I was using the P3 I could not get my brakes to lock. I just set the controller fairly high to where the trailer brakes would slow the truck down when applied by themselves. I used the P3 and Tacoma for about 5K miles. It seems like once I got the Ram and the brakes were more broken in, there was more grab. Now with about 20K miles locking the brakes is no problem. I have my Ram integrated brake controller set on 6. mike

  14. I don't right now. We're going to drive over to the storage in a bit to make sure all is OK. Will bring back pics. Mike
  15. This is our first RV. We got the twin beds for a couple of reasons - the walkway and nightstand between the beds and ease of getting up at night. We like sleeping together too and have doing so for over 40 years, but we're still glad we got the twins. With the Ollie heat at night does not have to be an issue. The kitchen and dinette surfaces are big enough for what we need to do. We cook and eat outside whenever we can. We're very happy with our choice. If ease of towing is a concern, the width of the AS might be a challenge. The Olivers are easy to tow. AS's also seem to come with an initial set of QC issues. You might also want to look at the T@B 400, quality is good, nice size and easy to tow. Mike
  16. We just got the small door magnets. On Command strips hold one on the bottom of the door and one on the side under the dinette seat. They work well and not very noticeable at all. Mike
  17. I spent the morning bringing in lose items, putting away umbrellas and generally getting ready for some weather. The trees are now waving and the rain has started. We're projected to get 8" of rain this weekend with winds at 30-40mph. We're 170 miles north of Corpus Christi where Harvey is making landfall. Our son and family in Houston are supposed to get 20+ inches of rain. It's going to be an interesting weekend! Our trailer is tucked away in covered storage. Mike
  18. John, that is a nice set up. It sure would be nice to have my Ollie at the house. I would have to do some major modifications to an existing garage. When we built this house 12 years ago....if I knew then what I know now! Mike
  19. Yes, much more elegant than what I do. I have a 12" 2X6 that I set my plate on. Mike
  20. Steve upgraded the Outlaw Oliver to disk brakes. I'm sure he has some lessons learned! Mike
  21. After a year and about 10K miles I took mine in to a local brake shop for adjusting. He made some minor adjustments and said the brakes looked good. $20. I manually apply the brakes a few times when first starting out each day. No grabbing issues. You might need to have a brake shop check unless you're more knowledgeable than I am and can do it yourself. Mike
  22. Ditto what Bill said. If the weather allows, we have the bathroom window open. I put a magnetic latch on the bottom of the door so it stays open at night in cold weather. Otherwise we turn the latch so the door stays open a half inch or so. Mike
  23. Bill, looks like a great trip! We'll be heading to Colorado in 2 weeks. Mike
  24. The vent pipe on top of the black tank was lose. It was easy to access from under the sink. I had it fixed at my local RV repair shop, Oliver paid the bill. Nothing to get nervous about - pretty rare. Mike
