Thanks, Larry, happy to be here. We've been looking for a trailer for some time now, reading fiberglassrv forum and a couple of others. Had a chance to see an Oliver at a fiberglass rally this past April in Bandera, TX. Steve Crider gave us a very thorough tour of his Legacy II. My last RV experience was in the 60's in a pop up as a kid. Carol has never RVed. Although after 40 years in the Army I've done my share of "camping"! Our daughter and her husband have been RVing for a while, all in traditional trailers and 5th wheels. I've seen the issues with build and quality they've experienced, which led us to the fiberglass world. We will be retiring next spring and that is our general target to get a trailer. Thanks Sherry,,,we are ordering it today. Along with a solar pkg. Really trying to get those loose ends tied up now so when the BIG trip comes up, we are all set to go. I see you also have an 08 Sherry. Did your windows have gaskets? Have you had to replace or re caulk your windows yet? Our "new to us" Oliver is an 08 as well. I have no idea the hull number or where to find it. I think Robert told me once but I forgot. Hoping the gutters and more thorough weep hole cleaning does the trick....but am thinking they might need more. Thanks again. Karen

Hi Sherry, We are going to install the rain gutters as well and I was wondering how much you used to cover all the windows? I saw they sold it as 10 feet and 50 feet only....at least at Camper World. Not sure which to get. Glad they have worked out well. We are hoping they help with leaks....along with deeper weep hole cleaning.... Karen

Hi Sherry, I have used a foam topper on my small bed in my vintage trailer up until now and it doesn't get hard when cold. I know from experience as we live way up here in the frozen north. And no, I don't camp in the winter, but I do in the fall and it gets down to below freezing some nights. I read all the posts to my bedding question and I think I'm going with another memory foam topper for our new Ollie. I was also looking into ones that are organic so it doesn't give off gases. They are very spendy though. Good luck. It's nice to know the cushions are of such high quality. But I do like a good nights sleep. Karen.

Hi all, We, John and Karen, hail from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and just bought the 17' foot Oliver Elite in AZ. We are pretty excited to join this group of Oliver owners and fans. We only just started looking a few weeks ago and was not that anxious to buy anything we had seen so far. Once we saw the Oliver, we are taken! So when this one came available, we jumped. We both retired from teaching recently and hope to travel around a few times a year. Late fall, as in November, and then in February for a few months...at least to start. Who knows what, where, when. The beauty of retirement! Our cairn terrier, Oliver, nicknamed Ollie, will be hanging with us. I will be looking for tips on how the dog in trailer works. He is a terrier. So, that means he's a terror!, He is almost 11 however, so has mellowed out considerably. Another issue we need to learn about is winterizing since we will be coming and going during frigid weather. Any tips would be appreciated. In the meantime, we are reading, reading, reading. The plan is to pick it up in AZ in the beginning of May, head towards TN for some modifications, and then we are off and running. Can't wait to see other Oliver's out and about! Karen and John

Egg Rally in Townsend TN Sites Reserved – When I saw the location of this rally I was so energized, it’s in my backyard; it’s known locally (by people in TN, AL, GA and some other States) as being one of the best sites in this area to visit. Definably a "Must Read and Explore” is "Steve Roberts's" website pertaining to his adventures. I stumbled across his site while following Chris and Cherie’s “Technomadic Adventure’s”. (Love the “You Tube” clip’s by the way!) I think that one of the more interesting aspects of his adventure’s on the bike (or was it a Trike?) too me is that the computers, cell phones, GPS, batteries, charging systems etc… were of the “Tech Age” when it probably weighed 100 times more then as it does now. The cell phone had a cord!! How long ago was that? Today, everything he had integrated into his ride would be covered by a mid priced cell phone from “Wal-Mart” weighing 8 oz’s. I’m sure that we owe him credit for his research work relating to what we now have in technological communications. Anyway, I recommend cruising this site for “Those that want to know more…”

Unfortunately we knew this day would come. AFAIK, everyone here has the ability to moderate (and kick) users (spam bots). If you are unable to ban a user, let me know and I will fix this. The primary mechanism of defense is CAPTCHA, that annoying image that you have to figure out and type the random numbers and letters. The problem with CAPTCHA, is that it is not impossible for a simple computer program to read and correctly answer a certain percentage of the time. I have put in a 10 second pause during the registration process which may end up kicking this bot permanently (it is most likely one bot that is doing this). Regardless of whether or not this works for this one bot, there will be more. (we probably have a high enough google page rank to be warranting attention by these spammers). I have three options, which I would like your feedback on, and will ultimately end up running by Robert to make a decision. Option 1: Do nothing (as far as changing the security settings). We would just have to watch the messages and delete as they come in. (Maybe someone could subscribe to the whole board, so everything is emailed to their blackberry as it comes in, maybe add some 'janitors' in addition to moderators). Option 2: 'Fully' moderate the board, requiring that one of us pre-approve each message. It is possible to trust some users, and then moderate posts by 'new' users. (if they make one 'human' looking post, then let them post more) Option 3: Use a IP black list (i.e., subscribe to a service that monitors ip addresses of likely spammers) I like the idea of option 1 or 2, most boards our size do one or the other. Option 3 in my opinion is not going to solve the issue, just reduce the frequency a bit, it will also raise false positives, blocking innocent users (probably as many innocents as spammers). Also it would take the longest to implement. But I wanted to have some option that didn't involve everybody doing more work. Anyways, lets keep this thread going and see what we come up with!

This forum was started just a few months ago. In the beginning I felt obligated to monitor it on a daily basis simply out of a “personnel feeling of responsibility to my job”. I hoped for it to succeed and I think it has. Keep in mind this was my first experience of this magnitude in any online forum. Now, I see dozens of threads and hundreds of post. I can not perform my job and stay current on all the post and personally respond every time. I do not regret my attempt at trying to get things started and had enjoyed being involved. If you will look at “ALL” of my post you will see that most of them have been mindless observations and silly comments. Yes, I did answer/comment on some direct questions. That was then and this is now. I can’t do it any more due to the amount of time involved in dealing with the size and scope of all the things that are being brought in and involved in discussions. If someone has a question for us at the office about our product, then they need and deserve an answer or reply from us. That can not be achieved through this type (forum) of communication. This is why we have added several new employees to assist in this area. We have the continental U.S of A. divided into West, Middle and East State Areas. Employees were added to help with the overall load of this so we could reply. This is the only reason I suggested anyone use a different means of contacting me and why I am now asking people to direct their questions to our website so, they can be answered in a timely fashion. Neither I nor the company are trying to duck, avoid, miss lead, hide etc… any information from “ANYBODY” and those that have dealt with us personally, I think will agree. From tonight till Monday morning August 25, 2008 at 7:00a.m. for those that feel I am hiding something or what ever, and have a need for a public answer before God and Country, Ask it now! I will do my very best to answer questions of a direct nature but, I can not and will not be able to respond to vague statements, innuendos, theory’s, mind boggling assumptions/dreams, accusations and 100 question surveys. Also, I can only respond to questions concerning “The Oliver Legacy” and not those involving any of the 100’s of choices in tow vehicles. After this Buffalo Bob will have to hang up his jersey and be “no more” in this forum. You are all very lucky in having a “Fantastic” and very experienced group of moderators. I can not use this forum in the future for answering anything else after the above deadline “only” because of the time involved and “NOTHING ELSE! “ Please, use the”Website” in the future and not the forums for specific needs and questions that you require me to answer. Let’s not destroy this source of great information, comradely and community involvement over petty issues.

Wow again…it is a small world. Grand dad was known there as Captain Raleigh Miller, I called him “Captain Miller”. He was a hell of a fine “Gentleman” and I miss “Dove and Quail hunting with him and “Mimi Partee” (Grandma). He had a fine bird dog named “Chief” that the “Captain’ handled like a fine European sports car. I was raised in Lebanon (Wilson County) and there’s no fields left to hunt now. It’s been close to 30 years since I’ve been to Rock Island. What’s it like now?

Fantastic post! I have 3 teenage boy’s with “extensive experience” in gathering wood, fire building, ( not just in the house but, out doors too!) and they are more than available for a little ole 2 week adventure like that. I’m a little short on cash right now but, I could come up with maybe $600.00 to cover their expenses for 2 weeks. Lol… I’m thinking a strong young man like that nephew of yours is sort of like having grand kids. Spoil them a little and send them home till the next time they come out. That’s what a lovely woman I know does,she claims that she’s my “mother”! She has the boy’s over and let’s them do thing’s she would never have permitted under her roof when I was there. Who is this woman? Sorry, I digress. Looks like he had the time of his life. I was raised in the city and granddad had a great farm outside McMinnville in Rock Island Ten. on the river. It was during stay’s on the farm (age 8 to 14) that I first experienced our beautiful state park “Fall Creek Falls”. Tom and Karen have been there and can attest to it’s beauty. Another park I just remembered is the “Blue Hole” state park in Rock Island. Great swimming hole! Hope “TS Fay” misses you and if you decide to put any of those sites your developing on the market can I haves 1st “dib’s”?

Friends, Romans and Countrymen, I come here to say that I have learned a lot over the last few days, had a lot to ponder, had a few side bars with others and “What I have been forgetting is the fact that this is the “information age!” On items of special interest to me, I have researched in detail and thought that what I was reading was up to date. As things started picking up this year in sales I have been spread thin, as well as all our employees have. In this I lost focus on the importance of timely and accurate information on our website. This in my mind, is what it all boils down too, most all our recent buyers use web information, be it a forum or website to make their decision. While you see that our forum has 213 members that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I estimate there are another 750 people that come in, read, digest the information, never post and make a decision on what information is available. If we are to continue this path of growth I must improve the flow of current information and updates in our product in a more timely manner. I feel it important to mention that over the last 3-4 months the Oliver’s have provided 5 more full time and at least 4 more contracted labor and services to deal with our growth at great expense. We have growing pains but, “Make real sure you under stand this. “Jim and Evon Oliver” expect that the “Oliver Legacy” be the standard that others set their goal to be. We go far and beyond what many other manufactures would do to make the owner “happy with” and proud of their “Oliver”. Again, I just ask that if you need me, contact me. Also, a mention of me in your prayers tonight would be appreciated , I’m posting this from home and it has not been “proofed” nor “approved” by others. WOW…This is like a brush fire. I am in the process of getting more exact information on all of this. I apologize to everyone and understand all your concerns. I am in constant contact with everyone here at the plant trying to get “exact as possible information” to all these comments. It is going to take a couple of days to get it all. When this first started with Mr. Irby’s estimated weight we were using that; an “estimated weight”. Tomorrow we are weighing the drum of insulation “prior to application and after application” so we will know a better figure. At this time fiberglass is thinking that it might be closer to getting 3 units (instead of 2) out of a 500lb drum. That would drop us down to an estimated 166.66 pounds for insulation instead of 250lbs. We also have a man weighing each and every part involved in “options” so that if a customer is trying to achieve a certain weight we can assist them in building their unit with that information. In today’s conversation with Jim Oliver on this topic he wanted me to express that the construction of the trailer does not need to be a concern for you as to what weight it can support up to the 5200lb axle rating. The issue is what you tow it with, how you load it and most important “how one drives once on the road”. Please bear with me while I get this information gathered and if you have a specific question or concern e-mail me with it so I may have the chance to respond to each of you specifically. It’s difficult for me to tell when someone is posting a thought, opinion or actual concern. We all wish to provide you with what information you require. In closing I just wanted you all to know that “neither I nor the company have our head in the sand on this”, I was trying to handle it as quickly as possible but, the questions are coming faster than I can address.
