  1. This story needs to be the next ad OTT runs
  2. I got you. That was my problem. They key was locked in the truck and the truck key was locked in the Ollie. I had two things happen that broke my routine. My driver door auto lock on my truck just stopped working. Then, the battery on the Ollie keypad went low. Being on autopilot, like I sometime do, I messed up. We are on a 3,000+ mile trip and my head is not quite on straight.
  3. Oliver Service, named Jason, came to our rescue. I called and left a message with service at 8:30 Eastern. Jason called me back within a few minutes. He suggested the basement route. Lucky my son was here to crawl where no man has crawled before, and hopefully never again. It appears the default code would not work because the lock battery is low. LESSON LEARNED, and a huge shout out of appreciation to @JEssary at the mothership. BTW - What is "the override key"?
  4. Help! What is the default code? I am locked out.
  5. I am planning to start dosing screws with red loctite going forward thanks all
  6. I forgot to mention the set screw on the black tank blade valve was missing on our first stop after leaving the factory.
  7. So far I have had the screws rattle out of the microwave mounting frame (I am questioning if the were installed), the Xantrex faceplate, the outside flip up table and the Dometic cooktop. We have about 6,000 miles on our Ollie. Normal highway miles, very few gravel roads. Is this normal? I am wondering what less obvious screw, nut or bolt might be waiting to make its absence known.
  8. I was struck by the fact that none of Vermont's state parks had hookups. I was querying the group if there were other states like that. Obviously I do check their websites. That is how I found out Vermont's situation.
  9. I only put water in my fresh tank when I know I need it. I don't want the extra weight.
  10. I prefer to have water and electric on the site. Having sewer is nice too. Oddly the cost of a site does not seem to depend on the amenities it offers. I have nothing against boondocking, but I want to pick my time and place.
  11. I just swapped a site in Freeport ME at Winslow Park for Camden Hill State Park in Maine to get electric and water on the site.
  12. We have been at RV camping a few days short of a year. We have yet to stay at a "for profit" campsite. By that I mean we stay at state parks, COE parks and national parks. We have camped maybe 40 days in 7 states. Like I said, we are newbies in all respects. We have our first "big" trip planned. It is 25 days. It appears that Vermont state parks do not offer any amenities on the sites. They have community water and a dump station. https://www.vtstateparks.com/camping.html Are there other states' parks that do not have sites with water and electric?
  13. A sympathetic ear is sometimes all that is needed. So, thanks. I am still learning. I know many of you have cracked the code. You helped by describing your approach. I will make it my own
  14. Rant over. Back to real life.
  15. This is my first time taking a large trip in my Oliver trailer. I'm excited but also a little nervous. I'm looking forward to exploring new places and meeting new people. The trip is about 3,000 miles over 20 days with 12 stops. I am not liking the efforts here. Paint me exasperated. I used to do long motorcycle trips. I like being spontaneous. Motorcycle trips were easy. Trailer trips are not spontaneous. Trailer trips are not easy. They require meticulous planning. Am I doing this wrong? The number of accounts I had to set up, the number of crappy websites and the number of voice messages I left makes this almost bad as going to the dentist.
  16. We have reconsidered our trek through that part of Canada. The objective of this trip is visiting friends on Lake Ontario on the NY side. We already have 12 stops planned over this 3,000 mile trip. I did not see anything close to our route that prompted me to go through Canada. All that said, we will do Canada soon, maybe next year, to see the things ya'll have mentioned. This is our first big trip and that one will be a big one too, with our focus on Canada. I hope we can do another biggie this year to the Rockies. Ya'll pray for me and my wife.
  17. Bee keepers love when folks call to have a hive removed.
  18. I doubt they are Carpenter Bees or Wood Bees. I'd bet they are honey bees. You win. I had Dirt Daubers. They built nests on the fan blades which threw them off balance. It was a matter of removing the Truma top and removing the nests. I now turn the AC on periodically when it is stored to discourage them from doing it a gain. You have taken it to the next level.
  19. We have never RVed into Canada. We have passports. What do we need to know to roll through Canada?
  20. I have the Anderson leveling blocks. I am simply wondering why Oliver did not equip the trailer with something more robust. I have to think someone here on the forum has beefed up the stock system.
  21. I guess that is one more thing one learns about our Oliver through "ancestral knowledge".
  22. Quoting - VIP 3,000 Power Jack is designed to lift up to 3,000 pounds a full 18". Oliver calls these "stabilizing jacks". How much are you comfortable using them to level the trailer? How high are you comfortable raising one side? An inch? Two inches?
  23. Does anyone know which manual has info about the rear stabilizer jacks? I can find the front hitch jack but not the two rear jacks. Thanks
  24. Good info I have fallen into a routine with RV Parky. https://www.rvparky.com/ I signed up for Harvest Hosts but have not yet stayed in one of their campgrounds. When I plan a trip I never find anything using Harvest Host. Maybe some states are better with HH than my surrounding states.
