Boondocking in an Oliver Travel Trailer

Boondocking is known by many names, dry camping, off-grid, and dispersed camping – no matter what you call it—going off the grid while camping is a new experience you and your family will enjoy and look back on fondness for years to come. There’s nothing quite like getting away from all the business of everyday life, and boondocking is a great way to do just that. However, it does take some knowledge, preparation, and the right tools to do it successfully. At Oliver, our campers are equipped with everything you need to get off the grid and have a great outdoor experience.

If you want to get off the grid this summer and take your travel trailer out into the middle of nowhere, chances are you won’t see anyone for miles. But, of course, that’s the goal when you’re boondocking! However, it would be best if you were prepared with the right tools, equipment, and set-up to make your camping experience exemplary. You won’t have hookups for water or waste, phone service, or electricity, so it’s essential to make sure you have a solid plan for all of that when you get to your destination.

When you purchase a camper with Oliver, you can rest assured that you are getting the best quality campers with the amenities you need to thrive outdoors. Here are a few of our off-grid and boondocking capabilities you get when you buy a travel trailer from us:

Large Water Tanks

Most of our travel trailers come standard with at least a 30-gallon fresh water tank. That’s enough to last most families a few days (or longer, if you’re careful).

Large Waste Holding Tanks

In addition to having a large fresh water tank, you’ll also need a large waste holding tank. Most of our travel trailers come with at least a 30-gallon black and gray water tank. These tanks will hold your wastewater from sinks and showers and your toilet.

Four Batteries

You won’t have to worry about your batteries running out because we stock your trailer with four of them. It’s vital to have backups, especially when you’re in the middle of nowhere and need to keep your lights on or the refrigerator running. Extra batteries will give you peace of mind knowing that you’ll be taken care of, even if you want to extend your trip!

LED Interior Lights

All of our campers come standard with LED interior lights. These are much more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs so that you can save your battery power for things like the fridge or the radio. Not to mention, they give off a much nicer light that is easier on the eyes. LED lights are an excellent option for your travel trailer, which is why we include them with your camper.

Two Optional 30lb Propane Tanks

You never know when you’ll need more propane. Running out of propane in the middle of nowhere can be scary, especially when you’re using it for cooking or powering your equipment. We offer two optional 30lb propane tanks so you can have complete peace of mind knowing it’s virtually impossible to run out (unless you’re camping for an extended period, you might want to pack extra).

Optional Solar Package

If you’re going to be boondocking, chances are you won’t have access to hookups for electricity. So we offer solar power options on most of our travel trailers. With solar power, you can charge your batteries, run small appliances, and even use your air conditioner or heater without bringing a generator along or being hooked up to electricity. Of course, you want your trailer to keep you comfortable, and solar is a great way to ensure that.

Ample Storage

Our travel trailers come with plenty of storage, so you don’t have to worry about packing too much or leaving something you need behind. We have exterior storage compartments for all your gear and interior storage for your clothes and other personal belongings. So you’ll be able to bring everything you need, plus some!

Insulation

All of our travel trailers are well-insulated so that you can stay at a comfortable temperature. So whether you’re camping in the heat of Southern Utah or the freezing Canadian backcountry, our trailers are equipped for all weather situations. Plus, if you want to conserve energy by turning off the air conditioner or heater, your trailer will stay at a comfortable temperature longer than it would if it didn’t have good insulation.

Optional Generator

When purchasing a camper from Oliver, you have the option to add on a generator! The RV generator will act as a backup in case your batteries die, your solar isn’t giving enough power, or you want to use it as your primary energy source. It’s a good thing to have, especially when you’re boondocking and away from the rest of the world.

These are just a few off-grid and boondocking capabilities you get when buying a travel trailer from Oliver. We know that camping is about getting away from it all, which is why we ensure our trailers are equipped to handle anything you might encounter on your trip.
