We stopped at the south rim on our way to Durango .. to get some stuff at the visitor center.. Did not take Million Dollar hwy.. took the western side route down..nice trip…. It was not busy at Black Canyon…

Another update. After unsuccessful communication with Oliver Service, I went ahead and sourced the axles from a Dexter authorized distributor. HF = 68.75 SC 50.5 dimensions were matched by Dexter and they shipped the correct axles to the dealer. See below photos of original Redneck axle and the replacement labels. I learned that Redneck Axle was bought out by Dexter and my original axles were made in that plant in AL. Trailer is due for pick up tomorrow but wanted to get some opinions on an issue the mechanic brought to my attention. He said he was concerned that the new axle was a bit shorter than the old one and was concerned that the shocks may get too close to the tires during tight turns when the axles shift a bit. I lined up the old next to the new to compare the HF dimension and found it to be almost negligible. If anything it's an eighth of an inch total which would put it at 1/16" for each side. Sorry that I forgot to take pictures of that. The inner hubs are closer together but I don't think that would be a problem as many folks have changed from the D35's to the D52's with the larger hub and brakes and have not heard of this issue. For those folks that have done that change... (D35's to the D52's with HF of 68.75" and SC of 50.5") A.) Have you noticed the clearance between tire and shock being an issue while turning? B.) Even if you haven't it might be something to inspect. When I get the trailer back I will take it to a parking lot and do some tight turns both forward and backward and see if there is an issue. We also camped at Crawford SP. It’s nice to see the Canyon from both sides. We camped in the NP campground for a much more in depth tour of the other side. Mike

First we were at site 15 at Zapata Falls. Black Canyon was great. We camped at Crawford SP. clear fork CG. By the North rim.. we hiked the trail to Exclamation pt. Then back about 3 mi. The canyon is gorgeous.. Then take the rim road and stop at all the overlooks..its breath taking….. side note visted Joe Cocker’s grave in Crawford.. we were big fans of him.. stay safe out there..

Great pictures, they all bring back good memories. We’re the opposite, we lived and worked in Europe 12 years (France, Belgium and Germany) and traveled extensively from Scandinavia to Greece and areas in between. Our goal was to retire and see the USA, especially as many National Parks and Monuments as possible. Mike

if I was to sell today I would ask what I paid for my trailer 10 years ago. That’s half of what a new trailer sells for today.

How did you like Black Canyon? Any hiking recommendations? We will be there in September.

I know this is an old thread but it popped up in my search when I was looking for something else. Your readings are off because the stick on tank sensors are positioned wrong. If you are very careful you might be able to very gently remove them and reposition but to be honest I haven't had any luck doing that, I always break them. New ones are around $70 (at least today). Positioned correctly they are very accurate. These are very expensive systems even though the Control Panel looks like cheap RV stuff. It's a relatively quick fix to be able to get a good reading on your tank level. Good Luck Rob

I haven’t looked at or around the water pump or accumulator yet - but I did notice the white “plastic” pipe that the San-T-Flush is plumbed with has PEX style fitting and clamp rings, and is stamped “SharkBite” - which is big in PEX, so I’m guessing it’s just a white or off-white PEX. I know we had PEX in red, blue, AND white(ish) at the hardware store I worked at.

-Supposedly- with Oliver’s “high resale value”, you’re still going to be paying for “worn out, outdated” things. I guess if you can find a motivated seller. (Dad passed away and the kids don’t want the trailer.) you could make this work. It’s all theoretical anyway, but I would thing that NOT putting things into a shell trailer - saving the dealer cost of those items as well as the labor to install them - Oliver (or any company) could make more selling a stripped down model than they could selling a loaded or even average one. It’s not “custom”, it’s just “don’t install X, Y, and Z.”

I will get a print made! What you didn’t know is, as soon as we pulled into that spot, the rear tires of my 2WD truck dropped into a shallow ditch and we got stuck in the mud! (recent monsoon rains) Our truck is in the picture mostly hidden by the Oliver. We’re not leaving until Saturday, the Oliver was in a good spot to level. Let’s spend the night, deal with it in the morning! 😎 Had 74 PSI in the rears. Aired down to 30 PSI. I unhitched the TV and drove it slowly out. Ran down the main rocky dirt road fast to get the mud out of the treads. Lined the truck straight in front of the trailer and backed her out. There was a 30” drop to the “jeep trail.” Don’t try this with your Oliver without a leaf spring upgrade! 🤣 We’re in a new spot just down the road. We have an onboard compressor that came with our Pacbrake exhaust brake. Wonder how long will it take to get these big tires back to highway PSI?

We’ve found that traveling business class makes air travel SO much more comfortable. Sure, you’re still stuck with TSA and crowds and such - but flying has been THE way to get from point A to B quickly and safely. Since the world’s recovery from COVID, air fares have been steadily climbing as people get back to traveling. Of course inflation and -somebody’s- non-war in Iran have driven fuel prices through the roof, but we’re all feeling that every day. Our first business class flight from Chicago to Heathrow in 2021 was about $1,200 round trip. Last year, was close to $3k. This year, we’re trying something new to us - crossing on the QM2 both ways. Price? A bit higher than flying business class. (Minimal cabin, drink package 😁) Then again, that includes 7 days worth of lodging, meals, entertainment, memories, and a major bucket list item. Trains in Europe and UK are fantastic. They make Amtrak look like a bad joke. Top speed in the states: 86mph. Europe: 200mph. And - unlike the one train per day to most Amtrak destinations (which is always late) - there are typically half a dozen trains in Europe. So - I know planes and trains and driving mirror-image cars on the wrong side of the road aren’t everyone’s idea of fun, but you can’t see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, the pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Acropolis, the beaches of Normandy, or the Haufbrau Haus that easily from your Oliver. I spent 60+ years in the USA. Now’s my time to see the world - literally. Sure, we have hot dogs and apple pie, but if you want a truly great beer - you hafta go to the UK. Wine? You can walk into almost any neighborhood store in Italy and buy a Chianti Classico for €6. Oh - and the French really are pretty decent cooks… 😂

I shall throw no stones at you for that as “in it’s a small world” between us, I was born in Chicago. As you can appreciate, my dad moved us south while I was a kiddo while working for Eastern Airlines at O’hare and fueling jets in the winter was far more tolerable in Charlotte NC than the Windy City! Besides “Texas” is an attitude that can easily be adopted as per all my friends there.

@ArtandBeth, We were there at the end of june very windy and hot. The view from site 20 at 9100ft. At Zapata Falls That was our last stop. We were at Black Canyon.. Durango.. Mesa Verde Great 2 wk trip..

The process went pretty much exactly as planned. All seems to be well as we are charging up. Hopefully the accuracy of the SOC will improve. (I recently had a battery shut down when the app was indicating a 35% SOC.) Thanks for the assist.

The campground was Zapata Falls, right by the Sand Dunes. Heading out to Spruce Grove tomorrow, by Lake George. We try to stay up high during the summer for the cooler temperatures. Went down to the flats once during summer and won't do that again.

Thanks Bill, yes we found a great spot 25 NW of Flagstaff off US-180 towards The Canyon. 1.3 miles of dirt west on FS 191C. Lots of dispersed camping up here. Our first Oliver trip 3 years ago was to the south of Kendrick’s Peak. Now we have a great view of it to our SW! At 7500 ft after a warm day it was 62F at dinner time. I got just the right light and distance in the shot above. The one below, our view from the Oliver entrance, was taken hours earlier. One other camper and 2 trucks down our road all day! 🤠

Hello friends, have a situation that calls for your expert advice and knowledge. While camping at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta this past week, we developed a drip from Truma a/c inside the cabin that we found disturbing. A slow drip from the knob that adjusts the front to rear airflow ( probably the low point) plagued us the last 3-4 days of our trip. Now, Atlanta in July is not the most hospitable place on the map with temps in the upper 90’s and humidity way above normal human levels, but after having factory service earlier this Spring, we figured all would be well. We were near level in our camping spot and very shady however,I did not see a lot of condensation dripping from our condensate hoses at the rear corners of the camper. I did notice some condensation running down the back of the camper so, does this point to a clogged drain hose? Is this something I can fix maybe by blowing air up the drain hose? Should I seek factory help? Should I stay outa Georgia in July? As always your knowledge and response is most coveted Thanks in advance.

FINALLY found a weekend to install my Chill Cube and I am not disappointed. It is very quiet, adds some headroom due to it’s sleek air handler and cools the trailer quickly. My experience with it so far is limited to testing to make sure I did everything right. With an outside temp of 101, an interior temp of 95 the Cube was able to drop the inside temp 20 degrees in 45 minutes. Unfortunately, I had to head back home before I was able to explore some of the other features or see how long it would take to reach the 76 degree set point. Regarding sound level, my Cube on low, sounds about the same as my refrigerator at home. Just a gentle background hum. My wife and I used to play white noise through the stereo system at night in an effort to mask the sound of the Dometic freight train over our heads. No more. I’m anxious to take the camper out to see how it does in the real world but we don’t have any trips planned in the near future.
