francesm, Some very good advice here. One thing I can add is to be very vigilant for "Flood Cars". They are abundant. Have a trusted mechanic physically check as it may not show up in a CF report. Cheers from Nashville,

"I don’t know why they put the board there. Right next to a water system component that needs regular servicing (filter cleaning) is NOT a good location. I would have selected a much drier spot in the aft compartment. There is no reason for it to be in a quick access compartment…" FOUND it - I was able to remove the bad board with out removing the screws (which are unseeable) and have it in my hand. Looks exactly like John's burnt marks and all. Now to replace

John, Our Suburban igniter quit working recently. The electric side works, but obviously while only on city power. I have submitted a service ticket to Jason, but wonder if you were reimbursed for your trouble. Regardless, I will have to repair this one in a similar way. I wish to thank you for your sharing the replacement info - I know exactly were to look. I have thoughts about contacting the Suburban company near Chattanooga to see if they have any suggestions or replacements for a swap. Cheers,

We were there last week on our way from Addison. Made an obligatory stop at the LL Bean outlet. We loved the weather which was 40 degrees in the morning. Used the furnace whilst camping, but back at home it is in the 90's. Cheers,

Welcome @rodgers, Roguebooks is correct. We just returned from a 3500 mile trip towing our LE with a 2017 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Manual to Maine and back. The trip was great and our Ollie performed beautifully whilst towing and camped. The Toyota requires a WD to provide the 6400# capacity, so we use an Anderson hitch, but not sure how much it is needed ( No sway to speak of). The LE comfortably sheltered 2 adults and a 42 pound dog with equipment and provisions for 2 weeks ( we had enough stuff for a month). My guess would be that we were around 3900#. There is much good info found here on this forum, so feel free to ask anything. Cheers for now,

Airstream is going fiberglas with the Nest.

Same base price (and roughly the weight) as the Elite. The rear door might allow a small kayak to be carried inside, but as someone stated, no awning over it. I am not sure why they put the microwave near the floor under the fridge - I like the Ollie's arrangement much better. Not much ground clearance, but that may not matter to some folks. The skylight is a nice touch, but they can be heat sinks and provide opportunity for leaks. It seems like it has nice fit and finishes (also much storage). Anyone seen one on the road? -
Townesw, Yes, I have gotten in the habit of closing the spigot at the hookup when leaving the campground for side trips etc. We attended last year's Ollie Rally and that came up during a seminar. In fact I believe it was Kelly Robinson that had an actual mishap while camping that she shared. It is easy to do and eliminates what could very much ruin your trip. Cheers

Want to Move the Progressive Dynamics Surge Protector Remote Meter
skalywag replied to bradbev's topic in Ollie Modifications
I moved the remote display to a spot under the dinette between the LP detector and the USB/12 Volt outlets. It faces away from the bed, so it is not noticeable. It was any easy move to do and beats having to dig down under the dinette seat every time we hook up. I removed the forbidden screws to that compartment right after we picked our Ollie up, but this location is much more convenient. I too am not sure about the weather resistant properties of this LED type display. -
I should have included that all tanks were empty ( except for the 20# LP tanks). and the truck bed was moderately (approx 125#) loaded. This could make a difference as well. The next time I hook up on a level pad, I will take another measurement to the inside of the bulldog. Terry

Mike, Just returned from a very nice stay at Big South Fork Nat Park @ Bandy Creek - the trees were changing to their autumn colors as we watched. As previously discussed, I carefully measured the drop when hitching and My 2017 Toyota Taco TRD Offroad Double cab w/130 lb. ARE shell (the one you saw when we met) lowered at the hitch 1.75" (24"- 22.25") on level ground. As always, it yielded a level and smooth ride. I hope this helps and please let me know if this helps. Terry

Dave, I only measured the hitch ball height attached to my TV (2017 Taco). I use an Anderson Hitch and our LE1 rides level, and I might add, like a dream. The next time I hook her up, I will take some measurements.
-
Mike, I just measured mine and from the ground to the top of the ball is exactly 24 inches. Keep in mind, this is in the free state. It lowers about an inch once hitched. I hope this helps,

Water Pump not working for water tank. Any suggestions?
skalywag replied to Going's topic in General Discussion
I know this is a simple check, but I just checked our LE1 and you may want to verify that the water pump switch - located in the aft upper cabinet among about 6 other switches, is in the on position. Cheers, -
2015 Oliver Elite II 12 VDC “NEGATIVE” Connection Issue
skalywag replied to Maverick's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I also just checked continuity between trailer frame and the ground on the 7 pin plug and it is grounded. This is a recent build and I have found very few issues so far. This is a good check for all owners to perform. Thanks for the heads up. -
I just completed replacing the Anderson Hitch hardware that attaches the rear brackets to the frame of the Ollie. I climbed under there to check the brackets against the witness lines and found that one side had shifted. It was not properly torqued. I also noticed that there were no washers used and upon further investigation, the OEM bolts were too short - ie. they had threads in bearing. This is bad for a bolt used in a shear application such as this. I did some checking here at the Oliver forum (thank you very much) and read John's thread where he completely rebuilt his Anderson hitch using the correct hardware. I used the same grade 8 5/8-11 bolts (3.25" grip) 5 inches long with self-locking nuts and washers and torqued them to 90 ft-lbs. That torque value came from Anderson. I kept the "Anti-sway" configuration and used the witness lines to position the brackets and snugged the (2) set screws (but wonder if they are effective). Has anyone else experienced these Anderson brackets creeping forward?

2017 Elite II For Sale in Washington
skalywag replied to Mike and Carol's topic in General Discussion
Fishy, It re-appeared with new price: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f53/2017-oliver-elite-2-twin-bed-model-like-new-81356.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+fiberglassrv+%28Fiberglass+RV+-+Emails%29 -
That is where our Leveling Jack Fuses are located. I also removed the screws, but I am not keen to store "stuff" in there. Cheers 2017 LE1 STD

Good Catch John, Most of ours were slightly loose to loose. I thought about using a lock nut behind the attachment flange but there is no room for a wrench in that space. So I used the nylon safeties after drilling the handles. I drilled one 1/4" hole thru the flat end and fed the safeties thru the bracket , then thru the handle hole and secured it. I was able to tighten each of the 4 knobs to the vertical orientation a seen. It should keep it from rotating, but I will continue to check them. While I was up there, I noticed that, at the junction box, there is a spare input receiver with a cap on it. Can this be used for an "add on"? Cheers, Terry

overland, It is the oem Dometic2454 3 way that came with it. I ran it for a day on each mode. It was already cold and not opened very often with a low load (beer and juice etc). I had read that they can be energy hogs as well. I installed remote thermo/sensors and have been maintaining 35 degree F with -2 in the freezer for the last 5 days in our roughly 76-88 ambient temps. Keep in mind all this equipment is brand new and I am new to trailers. Cheers, Terry 2017 LE1 #240

Reed, I do not know how accurate it is, but the Zamp does have a percentage (available battery) at the top of the display. I have to have my glasses on to read it. We picked up our LE1 a week ago and have tested all systems with the exception of the fresh water and I am pleased so far - (knock on wood). I am seeing values of 13.4 V for our Lifeline 6V batteries that are being supported by the solar panels full sun for 4 hours (200 W) and running the already cold fridge on DC for 8 hours. We are just camping and not full timing, but I think we can live with this. I enjoy ya'lls blog , Thank you, Terry

Stoic Jim, We will be receiving our 2017 Legacy Elite in June and towing it with a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, Double Cab, Manual trans, 4x4 w/Tow package. It will tow 6400 lbs with a GVWR of 11330 lbs. Although it would be fine as is, we added the Anderson Hitch for added confidence. From everything I have read and heard, the Ollie is very well mannered. I will let you know after I have some miles with her. Thanks, Terry
