@mossemi, I assume your dog camps with you. How is he in campgrounds? Have you had any issues with other campers or campground management? We want to be good neighbors.

Yes, Nick always camps with us and we have never been asked to leave a campground.  And dogs led us to buying a RV.  When Krunch's parents were still with us, they were our dog sitters.  When our dog got to be too much for them, we started staying in hotels that allowed dogs.  And we soon realized that most hotels considered smoking rooms and pets allowed rooms to be the same.  When smoking rooms were outlawed in most states it made things easier, but the Ollie was the game changer.  National Parks are a real challenge with limited dog friendly areas and COE's are extremely dog friendly in our experience.  If we leave Nick alone in the Ollie, we try to limit his ability to see anything outside and sometimes we will leave him in the bathroom with a radio on.  Our biggest fear is an electric failure and the loss of the of the air conditioner so we try to limit the amount of time we are gone.  And I must say that one advantage of the Dometic AC's are their ability to drown out outside noise😎.  Like David and Paula mentioned above, behavior modification does work and consistent direction is the key.  Research clicker training for information.  And don’t give up, you be rewarded with a loyal best friend!

  2. I can sympathize with you as the owner of a very reactive dog.  He loves people, but anything on 4 legs sets him off.  He is never off lead except in our fenced back yard.  He has been this way since we brought him home when he was 12 weeks old.  A 3 month long reactive dog class did not help and we have excepted his limitations around other animals.  Nearly 10 years later he is a little better and will play with other dogs in our fenced yard and will behave around other family members dogs, but we really don’t trust him 100%.  We love him and he’s ours until the end.

We all have our tips and  tricks!  I started using Absorber Synthetic Chamois towels while motorcycle camping.  And I still use them when camping in the Ollie.  Then I finish with a small microfiber cloth.  I usually cut one in half and make two towels out of one.  Who cares if they dry out or not, they work better wet just like a real chamois.  And it’s harder to drag on the floor using a half of one.  Plus a half is easier for me to wring out.

All, I ran into the same problem this last trip.

Do you know which Xantrex 2000W inverter you have?  Oliver has used 2 versions of the Xantrex 2000W inverter.  The original is a PROwatt SW Inverter.  And they newer inverter is a  FREEDOM X / XC Inverter.  The original has a hard coded High and Low voltage cut off, which can not be modified by the end user to my knowledge.  The newer Inverter can be modified by the end user.  Is this the model you have?

In my particular case, running a 1.5kW load,  the voltage indicated by the Xantrex display was .5V lower than what was measured at that battery.

Are you measuring battery voltage with a multimeter at the battery terminals?  Can you also measure the battery voltage at the terminals of the inverter with a multimeter?  This method might provide a more accurate cable loss measurement than the internal display.

We'll probably live with this one until a Clam is obtained...

I think I would just cut off enough of this one to fit a future Clam and seal the cut ends.

However, from what I've seen, the CGEAR sand mats are also somewhat more expensive.

Kind of like Ollie's, sometimes you get what you pay for!  And I have to give credit to Overland for the original post about CGEAR RV mats.  I bought our 8'x20' Orange/Agave mat in February of 2020 on sale.  It was the only color available in that size and price and Krunch does not like it.  It is big and heavy and if I was to buy it again, I think I would op for 2 smaller mats, especially if we had a Clam shelter.

  8. I’m feeling kind of primitive with my battery maintenance schedule.  My Ollie is plugged into a 20 amp circuit while in storage and I turn the battery charging breaker off when the batteries reaches 100%.  Then I wait for Victron's VRM service to send me an email letting me know that the batteries have reached 35% SOC and I trudge 25ˋ up the hill in the snow and turn the breaker back on until the batteries again reach 100%.😂  And then I repeat the sequence.  I have thought about incorporating a relay to automatically shutting off the breaker and maybe that’s a future project.  We all have to figure out what works for our non camping lifestyle!

The forces ripped the locking mechanisms from their mounting positions underneath the drawer held there by two (IMO) very small wood screws.

Are you referring to the release handle used to remove the drawers?  The reason I ask is because Oliver has been installing an additional locking devise, as pictured in a post above, to their drawers for several years.

Brian, sorry another question about how you wired the smart sense to the batteries. I see you have the positive and negative wires connected to one of the batteries, not to both batteries, ie negative to one battery and positive to the other battery like your leads, will that make a difference?

And your question was also answered by the installation manual.

    Mossey

For banks of batteries Smart Battery Sense may be connected to any one of the individual batteries.

If so, couldn’t you have accomplished the same functionality by adding a temperature sensor to the BMV-XXX?

I answered my own question by reading Victron's user manual for the Smart Battery Sense.

    Mossey

When can I use Smart Battery Sense ...and when should I avoid using it?

    • Check the VE.Smart Networking compatible products list for compatible Solar Chargers.

    • Smart Battery Sense is not needed, or allowed, in systems which are already controlled by a Color Control GX or Venus GX, see FAQ Q6 for more info.

    • Smart Battery Sense is not needed for installations which already have a BMV-712 (battery monitor) with a temperature sensor accessory.

    • For installations using a BMV-702 together with its optional temperature sensor accessory - for wireless connectivity consider adding a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle instead of a Smart Battery Sense.

Not sure if it has improved my situation but man, do I feet good about myself...lol

I am not up to date on OTT's current solar equipment options, but it does seem that some trailers are equipped with some Victron gear.  Does your Oliver have a Victron BMV-XXX to go along with your Victron solar charge controller?  If so, couldn’t you have accomplished the same functionality by adding a temperature sensor to the BMV-XXX?

Thinking outside of the box, why not take advantage of the spare tire assembly.  If I recall there is a massive bolt that holds the rim in place.

The massive bolt is actually a piece of 5/8" all thread.  Been there done that!  It was my first attempt using a bike rack I already had.  It worked until I needed the sewer hose or the spare tire.  Then it required removal, so I moved onto 2 trays mounted on the front cargo carrier which created clearance problems with sharp turns.  I finally found a used Let's Go Aero Jack-It made for Lippert and mounted it in the front cargo carrier and that’s what I have used for several years.

So, people obtain diagrams by asking for them individually?  If that's the case, I'll definitely call and ask for them.

It would be really nice if Oliver posted diagrams with each year's manuals. It would be very helpful to owners and mechanics. If the diagrams are 'guidance' and not literal, they could put a statement on the diagram that says so.

I agree that it would be nice to have diagrams for every model year, but that’s not the case.  I’m lucky because my 2017 LE2 has a great manual, available in the Oliver University and after downloading it to my iCloud, it’s almost always accessible.  I would suggest to anyone that didn’t get one with their Oliver delivery or hasn’t been able to get the information that is available in a model specific format, to go ahead a look at other model years because the information could be the same or similar enough to guide you through the problem or repair you are working on.

Is there a diagram for that? I didn't see one in my manual. Does the LP go to the WH first, then the furnace, then back to the stove and fridge?

If you have an original refrigerator that Oliver installed and it runs on propane, the schematic below from 2017 may be of interest.  You can probably verify the propane line running from the propane box in front to the rear bumper by looking for the copper tubing below and outside of the trailer on the curb side.  And if you have an outside access panel at the bottom of your refrigerator, the penetration of the gas line is probably visible coming through the floor.

Does anyone know if the fan is standard?

It was on hull 193.  Mine is located high and in back of the refrigerator.  It is accessible through the upper exterior refrigerator vent.  The power switch is on the main panel in the foyer.  And in a pinch you can remove the upper vent panel for some convection cooling.
