    I think we all recognize the each Oliver is somewhat unique, whether from the factory or because an owner has made changes to suit their particular needs. So I try very hard to avoid making definitive statements and I try to avoid talking in absolutes.  So I will not talk about your Oliver specifically, but I will talk about mine.  Whenever I am working on the 12v system in my LE2 hull 193, the first step for me is to turn off the Blue Sea battery cutoff switch. I installed this switch, not Oliver and I do have solar.  If I am plugged into an AC power source and I want to work on the batteries, I will also turn off the 12v charging breaker in the Progressive Dynamic power center.  And I will also turn off the breakers I installed before and after the solar charger if needed.  The last breaker I may need to turn off is the flag breaker Oliver installed which is I believe is the first device connected to the Progressive Dynamic's 12v charging circuit.  And then I would use a 12v tester of some sort to verify the device I was going to work on was in fact isolated.

    All that being said, I would guess your 120v input to the charging section of the Progressive Dynamic was the source of the 12v output to the Oliver.

    Excellent tutorial that covers the old style MultiPlus.  The new model is a MultiPlus-II and its form factor is a lot different.  And I don’t believe a vertical installation of either model is possible.  The 120 amp charger covered in that document is way oversized for the wiring and 300 Ah of lithium batteries in my LE2, although the charge current is programmable.

    Charging Ollie With Multiple PowerSources, split from flex panels thread

    I think of the Victron Smart Shunt or any of the Victron 700 series battery monitors as smart gas gauges.  They can give you an idea of your battery system SOC as well as the rate of charge or discharge that is occurring at the time of viewing.  They can provide information to other pieces of Victron equipment that can control the rate of charge, but as a standalone piece of equipment they do not have the ability to control the amount of charging from any source.

    Please correct any part of my thinking you don’t agree with,

    Can you tell us more about your Oliver?  What brand of batteries do you have now?  How many do you have?  Do you have solar?  Do you have an inverter?  Who will complete the battery installation?  Do you boondock or camp without electric hookups?  How soon do you need the job completed?

    This manual was downloaded from the Oliver University, which is in the Owner Resources section.  It looks like the answer to solving your issue begins on page 30.

    Coffee maker and the Elite II

    Coffe, one of my necessities!  I have always preferred single cup serving methods.  Nothing real fancy, but I have used the Primula classic stovetop espresso maker, Melitta plastic pour over #2 filter holder, Clever Dripper, French Press, and my current favorite, an AeroPress.  I have the original and the travel size.  The travel size lives in the Ollie.  I heat water in an old Jet Boil backpacking stove outside while Krunch is still in bed.  My coffee usually comes from Costco, whichever 2 lb. bag is on sale.  At home I grind beans every morning and usual buy pre ground coffee for camping.  And if you haven’t noticed, my morning coffee is on the cheap side.  And I like it black!

    Use of the forum made sense.  RV Trader and other sales tools makes sense, but I don't see using a dealer except to trade it in.

    A moving blanket over the solar panels an easy and effective way to stop the panels from producing any energy, thus protecting yourself and the Oliver.  If you have the Lithionic battery package, it may have a switch on the battery that will shut it off.  Do you have tools to test 12v volt equipment such as your truck battery?  A multimeter is a very useful tool for testing 120V AC and 12V DC.  A 12 volt test probe is also a useful tool to verify if voltage is present in a battery or circuit.

    I believe it is a matter of perception.  This new dealer network business model may or may not be a success for the Oliver Travel Trailer company.  Only time will tell, but I am hoping that it is successful! 

    First, we know Oliver is going to offer new trailer sales and service through a dealer network, which will provide additional buying, selling and service locations, which should give the Oliver Travel Trailer company a national footprint.  

    Now we know that Oliver has closed the Classified sub-forum completely.  This will remove one option for those that are interested in buying or selling an Oliver Travel Trailer.  The new dealer network will provide additional oppportunities for buyers and sellers of Oliver Travel Trailers which may be at a more advantageous geographic location.  The buying and selling of an Oliver Travel Trailer is still a decision that owners are in charge of. 

    Whether or not an Oliver Travel Trailer owner chooses to have service performed at a dealer that may or may not sell new or used Olivers is their choice, as it always has been.

    Just a little back story!  

    I purchased Hull 193 in January 2018.  Used Oliver's were hard to find in those days and I wasn’t really looking for a used Ollie, I wanted to order one just the way I had been planning to for over 2 years while waiting for retirement.  When I found #193 on the Fiberglass RV forums in November 2017, it was by accident, my retirement had come 5 months earlier than planned and I was surfing the net and just stumbled onto it.  So I ignored the ad for about a month because I wanted to order my own.  So finally thought I’ll just go look at it, it might be too good to pass up, and it was.  When we attended the 2018 OTTO's Rally, everyone welcomed us enthusiastically and we then went to Hohenwald after the rally and the Oliver Service Department fixed the fresh water tank pickup tube issue that a few LE2's of the vintage suffered from as a warranty issue.  We dropped the trailer off in Hohenwald in August of 2018 and the service department converted our full size bed to a twin bed model.  And we haven’t needed to go back since.  I don’t know if OTTO's that buy directly from the factory get treated any better than we have been but I can’t imagine they do.

    Now I’ll give my thoughts on the death of the Classified Forum.

    1.  I appreciate the fact that OTT's has provided the general public and OTTO's a forum for us to talk about, seek advice and help from other OTTO's in a friendly and non judgmental setting.

    2. OTT's has never asked for my opinion on how to run their business, and they don’t offer any advice on how I should run mine.

    3.  I am happy that they are receptive to new methods of running their business and hope they remain a viable company for many years to come.

    4.  They recently announced that they are moving to a dealer sales and service business model  to supplement their present in house model.  This should please owners that do not live in the southeast.
     

     I hope this new approach supports the sales and service for present and future OTTO's all around the United States.  And if that comes at the sacrifice of the Classified Forum, that’s a decision that OTT's should make, it’s their money in the pot.  And I support that decision.  After all, my Ollie isn’t for sale!

    Leave Black Tank Drain Valve Open When Flushing!

    I will add to Bill's post about the Orbit flow meter, mine works pretty good, but I only use it when camping solo.  

    I always flush the black tank when we are leaving a site equipped with a sewer connection and like Mike and Carol, we use the SeeLevel to a 50-60% fill and then flush.  We may do a black tank flush at the dump leaving the campground, but only if there isn’t anyone waiting.  If I start rushing things because people are waiting and 👀, it often ends badly.  
    I always thought that a 50% flush after the main flush was only beneficial in cleaning the black drain pipe.  
    One last comment, I try to stick with the method I have been using to setup, breakdown, sterilize or anything concerning the Ollie, it helps prevent mistakes on my part.  If I think there may be a better way, I make a note and then mull it over a while before putting into practice.  If I break away from any of my normal routine, I usually end up making a mistake.
