  1. I couldn’t find a thread specific to this, so am putting it here… How are the heather vents removed. Mine collect a fair amount of dust and lint and I’d like to remove them to give them a good cleaning.
  2. Not sure if this is the right thread for this question…How is the Norcold fridge removed, and what holds it into its cubby? How would one begin the process of removing or securing it into the cubby? David
  3. We recently replaced our AGM batteries with 3 100 AH Battleborn batteries. The Battelborns’ are internally heated, having a remote switch that turns the heating system on/off. We have the standard solar system from Oliver, with a Zamp system; we did replace the PD converter to a lithium compatible PD converter. We store our Oliver outside without a cover. We were anticipating adding some insulation to the battery compartment door, turning on the heater switch and letting the system take care of itself. Is this okay? My understanding is the Battelborn BMS will prevent any attempts at charging the batteries if they are too cold, and the heater will allow the batteries to charge when necessary. Energy usage/needs of the Oliver are minimal when simply parked, since we won’t be running the systems much in the winter.
  4. We are replacing our AGM batteries with lithium and and are trying to keep things simple. It’s quite a learning curve, and have appreciated all the posts of others who have made this change. Along these lines, in an above post, it’s mentioned that the 12 volt charging system from the 7 pin is disconnected on lithium systems to avoid damaging the tow vehicle’s alternator. How exactly is this done? By modifying the 7 pin or within the trailer? And I assume that since the TV is not contributing to charging the lithium batteries, people would run their fridge off propane? Thanks. David
  5. I am attempting to have a cutoff switch for the solar put in-I got a Blue Seas switch as mentioned above-it appears that our porthole (we are a 2018 Oliver #366) in the cabinet to the left of the pantry is bigger than in previous years, and the switch won't fit as it does in the picture above. Does anyone have any ideas as to where a good place for the switch would be? Thanks very much.
  6. Can someone who has the blue sea switch, as seen in the above post, please tell me what model number the switch is? I need to put in a solar cut-off switch. Thanks. David #366
  7. Hey Spike i noticed that you said that your RV tech put the battleborn batteries on their end; could you post a photo of what that looks like, especially how you worked out the cables on the batteries. Thanks. David #366
  8. Hey Sherry. Above you advised to turn off the solar before removing the batteries; how specifically is that done? Is there anything else that needs to be done before removing the batteries? Thanks. David
  9. Our Dometic went out about one week after the expiration of the warranty. Dometic would not extend the warranty, nor did they have a replacement board. We looked everywhere for a replacement board. We had a local RV repair shop look as well. I was able to locate a board that was close, but never the exact one. And, because we were never able to get an upper board, we were not confident that it wasn’t the lower board, or a combination of the two since they apparently work together. We ended up having to replace the entire fridge, for lack of a $100 to $200 part(s)! We got lots of help from Oliver service, and zero from Dometic. We now have a Norcold and are happy with it. The thermistor did go out, but Norcold paid to have our local RV shop replace it under warranty. The Norcold is a better design than the Dometic; if the fridge goes bad, it has a backup mode that keeps the fridge cold right above freezing to help prevent food loss. And Norcold service is exceptional. Wait times to talk to someone are reasonable and they actually offer help. I now know why Oliver switched to Norcold away from the Dometic.
  10. Okay, how do you make a Snowball Cocktail? Maybe we should call the pie Snowball Pie? And, would the pie and cocktail go well together?
  11. Thanks Overland! I like the idea of anise; the more the merrier in my opinion. Cherries, chilies and anise?-very unusual. Maybe we can call it Overland Pie?
  12. Hey Overland! Would you mind sharing the recipe for the pie?
  13. Thanks. However, is Topgun correct, “…do it once and forgot it”, or does it have to be done every time when winterizing? If there is no separate shutoff valve, seems it would have to be done every time. What are others doing? Thanks. David
  14. For those of us with composting toilets: is it necessary to make sure antifreeze gets into the water line behind the composting toilet by opening the valve behind the toilet when drawing in antifreeze, until it runs pink, as you would do with the vanity sink and the kitchen sink? Thanks. David
  15. We have a 2018 Toyota Tundra and just got a preliminary service bulletin on potential fires related to the wiring harness connected to the high beam head lights. No remedy yet. No idea if there’s any connection to your truck. Glad you and your wife are okay. Quick thinking with the fire extinguisher.
  16. Thanks for the reply’s. I was wondering Bill, why you don’t plug the solar panel into the Zamp plug on the side of the Oliver? Would you mind posting a picture of exactly how you plug in your panel? I assume there would be no modifications to the electrical system when using the panel? Thanks.
  17. Does anyone who uses the Calmark cover for their Oliver use a suitcase solar panel to maintain the batteries while under cover? If so, could you please describe the type/kind size of solar. Or, for those people who don’t use solar while under cover, could you please describe how you maintain your batteries? Thanks. David
  18. Looks great! Can you please provide product links to both the opening and the suction cup device to hold the shower head. David
  19. Thanks for this discussion-helpful in that we are deciding on new tires for our Toyota Tundra, also. As has tripmushrv, we have been looking at the Michelin LTX A/T2's, and our local tire dealer also suggested Hercules (made by Cooper) Hercules Terra Trac A/2 II as well as the BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2's. The Hercules tires are significantly cheaper than both the Michelin and BFG's. My question is: does anyone care to weigh in on the Coopers and/or the BFG's? I have no experience with either of these tire brands; we usually use Michelins on our vehicles. Any feedback would be appreciated. David
  20. I am not sure where to post this; couldn’t get the search feature to pull up the right thread. We have the Dometic furnace- works good with the exception of the sail switch frequently collecting bits of hair (we are traveling with a cat) and lint and consequently not allowing the unit to ignite until we take the switch out and clean it off. As noted, the unit works well when it runs. I am wondering if anyone else. has encountered this issue and what they do about it. I thought of putting a foam filter over the intake but worried about impeding air flow; apparently Dometic does not recommend filters for the unit. Thanks.
  21. Thanks Frank; I don't think your attachment came through.
  22. Kim and I want to replace our discolored white window gaskets with the black; has anyone else done this? I wanted to make sure the part number and size was correct before ordering, as mentioned in the posts above. Thanks.
