  3. Well Larry, that would certainly be possible....... sunset and bats that is! However, not until June or July. The bats haven't migrated here yet! But the Caverns at Carlsbad are beautiful! You and Betty ought yo take a trip there!
  4. Now you got it! I forgot to mention that if you need LP Gas, there is a place right next to the park, DOT on one side, LP on the other! Restaurants closed on Monday, we found a Mexican one that was so/so. Never saw a laundry mat. Park was quiet at night too. We are now in Carlsbad at Carlsbad RV, a great place with good showers and laundry, heated indoor pool. We are leaving about 1 PM to go tour Carlsbad Caverns and hopefully be there tonight when the bats come out to feed!
  5. No, sorry. This park is on highway 70 North next to DOT and listed on http://www.rvparksreview.com. It's just north of the "Y" US 62 and 70 split. (Forum pm to Chuck never showed.)
  6. Chuck and I left Quartz Mountain Nature Park on Monday and headed into the Texas panhandle. Once again we found ourselves on Highway 70 and taking the backroads through America. I guess it doesn't matter where you go in the Texas Panhandle, I-40, I-10 or State Road 70, you are gonna see cattle, oil rigs, windmills and a lot, a whole lot of wide open spaces ! But Chuck found a free campground listed on Highway 70 in a small town called Floydada TX. The free campground provides free water and electric, nice area to walk the dogs, a gravelled well kept camping area. Nothing fancy, but really nice. We have paid for worse, believe me! Remember that place in Jackson Mississippi Pete??? In the Floydada space. we even picked up a free wifi signal with 3 bars! Here are some pictures of it for you!
  7. I'm not exactly sure what Mountainborn is going to store in there, but Chuck and I liked the set up so well we are going to make one just like it to store our screen panels in that were made by Sewing Susan from the Casita Club. It is a tightly screened panel that fits on the front and side of the awning that rolls out from the Casita or Oliver. With these panels, you are able to protect your home on wheels from wind, sun and blowing sand. These panels turn your ordinary awning into a screened in room open on one side. ( If you look at the photo, you can see one of the screen rooms I am talking about on Butcherknife and Mountainborns Oliver!)However, carrying around this screen room has always been a bit awkward and it takes up space that could be used by something else. This very lightweight piece of tubing, tied to the top of the car rack is a perfect solution. Chuck had been using a big fat piece of PVC pipe that was far too heavy and cumbersome. This is the perfect solution for us! We think it's a great idea!
  8. Betty, I asked Chuck the same thing, "do we really have to leave today?" Thursday night was our last catfish fry and here's a pic of you and Rachel frying catfish for the rest of us hungry campers! I just want Mountainborn and Butcherknife to know how much Tumbleweed and I enjoyed our visit to Lake Greeson! We had a great time meeting everybody, old friends and new friends! Thank you so much for hosting this fun event! Happy Trails, hope to see you further down the road!
  9. Glad to hear Steve is on the mend!!! Do what Tali tells you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chuck n Geri n critters
  10. I just wanted everybody to know that The Midget is much better. She is experiencing doggie menopause (or should that be (menopaws? ) She had a very high fever and an infection, but will be fine with the antibiotics the vet gave her.
  11. We woke up to a beautiful day today! Sunny, warm and I got to ride in the boat! Meanderthal, Karen and Tom left today for Texas! Al and Fran left too. They live in Mena Arkansas and as you know, Mena was devastated last week by tornados. They went back on Easter Sunday to help those in need and survey the damage. They came back, but yesterday they decided they were needed at home and they left a few days early. So Larry, David and Rachel (our new Casita couple that joined us from NC), Chuck and I climbed into the boat to go and retrieve Al's bait trap from across the lake. It was a great boat ride. Enjoy the photos.
  12. Today Monday, saw Steve and Tali leaving! Good to see you two again! Good Luck Wednesday Steve! The second photo shows Mountainborn's camp area! The thord photo shows Junior Birdman (Aubrey) and his furkids Rascal and Woodstock!
  13. Hoooray! We finally got to sample some of Lake Greeson's fine catfish! Betty is an amazing cook, but the guys in the boat deserve thanks too, for braving the thunder and lightening to bring the catfish to the table! Thanks to all of you! It was a great meal! Sorry Thomas and Katy missed it! It was great seeing you two again! Larry, Alan, & Steve catfish 050 Betty cookin' catfish.jpg Chuck catfish thumbs up

  15. Hi Steve! Chuck and I live in FL, but we will be spending 6 months, May to Oct, in Truth or Consequences NM as workampers at a hot springs spa there. If you are interested in seeing our Oliver and the additions Chuck has made, you are welcome to come visit! Just let us know! We are currently at Lake Greeson meeting other Oliver owners and we even have a Casita couple here! Catfishin' is slow but the conversations are lively! Good fun. Just wish it were warmer here........ wind is very chilling! I have updated the blog with photos from Lake Greeson, if you are interested! We finally made it to Lake Greeson! http://phunnyfarm.blogspot.com/
  16. "It looks like 925 miles for us, but with the pig trails Geri likes to travel, they'll probably top that." PIG TRAILS ????? Might be pig trails to some, but if you wanna see the real USA you gotta get off the interstates and travel the backroads of America! Chuck loves old cars, the older the better and we see them everywhere on the back roads, tucked into old sheds, parked near barns and sitting in front yards! Me? I love the quaint old homes that were built with love by the families who were gonna live in them! We just saw a real classic in the FL Panhandle, near Chipley on highway 234. Some might call 'em "pig trails" but I prefer to call them the scenic routes! We will be making a detour back to the Oliver factory, then on to Lake Greeson and eatin' some great catfish!!! YUM !!! Karen and Tom, see ya'll soon!
  17. Like Cherie, I had been craving more light over the cutting board area. We had considered several varieties of stick ups but none seemed bright enough. Earlier, Chuck posted some info about these lights with a website. Finally I am catching up with some photos. These lights have a bright and dim mode, all 3 are adjustable seperately to shine on different areas. They take 4 AAA batteries and we used an industrial strength velcro to attach to the ceiling. These lights are so bright that when we go back to Camping World, we are buying one as a reading light!
  18. FINALLY! I now have that photoshop program on my computer that allows me to downsize my photos to an uploadable size for the Oliver Forum! So now I can share the photo of 4 Olivers and owners taken at Withlacoochee Park in Dade City FL!
  19. Oh Darn! Chuck and I will be missing you by about a month! May 1st we begin our new job as workampers just south of Alburquerque in Truth or Consequences NM at a hot springs spa! Looks like you will be going right past it too! Well, if you feel a need to soak, they have a spa open to the public ! I think it's $5 an hour. Here's the link in case you might want to soak! Hope we get to meet one of these days on the road! http://www.riverbendhotsprings.com/
  20. Welcome to the Oliver family! I know you and yours will love every minute of traveling and camping with your Oliver! Be prepared to be stopped in grocery store, restaurant and gas station parking lots by people admiring the Oliver and wanting on the spot tours! Make sure you find Sherry's "Suction Cup 101" class on the forum! Lots of good advice there. If you ever end up down our way, Apalachicola FL (and if you find us at home!) come on by for a visit! Beautiful beaches, best seafood restaurants, one of the true last small town America communities! Only ONE traffic light in the whole county and NO Walmarts or McDonalds either. Just great mom and pop businesses! Have fun exploring America! Stay off the freeways as much as possible so you can appreciate the REAL USA! Again, WELCOME!
  21. I love your color scheme! Your Oliver looks great! How was Dead Horse State Park? Chuck and I have sent in our applications to workamp there, but we have never been there. We just love that part of AZ. I hope you like camping in your Oliver as much as Chuck and I do! After 3 weeks at home we just have to hook up our Phunny Pharm, throw the 3 dogs in the 'burb and go somewhere! We are headed home today after 10 days on the road. Chuck's youngest grandbaby just celebrated her first birthday! That was good enough reason to hook up and go!
  22. Be prepared to lose your bed! Chuck and I never sleep alone in the Oliver! hahaha!
