  1. We were just at the sales and service office a month ago. They are definitely selling the additional items outlined here plus Webber grills and other assorted items that a new Oliver owner might want. In fact they were re arranging "the store" the day we picked up our Ollie from service. I am glad they're doing this. They have a quality brand. I have received several positive comments on our Ollie and interest in the brand. Most are very happy when I tell them about Oliver being a family business based in TN. Those who have done research all point to how well they are built and quality reputation. Many have never heard of Oliver but look at our trailer and are very impressed. The more the brand is in the market and desired the better for Oliver and Oliver owners. I would hate to see them sold at dealers like Airstream. I could understand a 2nd Oliver owned and operated Sales and Service center somewhere in the west.
  2. We will use the campground showers most of the time if they are clean and kept up. We are mostly in state parks or COE. So far this last month we had good luck. If the showers are gross we have no problem using the Ollie or when boondocking. We like it just fine. The extra room at the campgrounds is nice and we can go a little longer before hitting the dump station.
  3. Congrats!!! Like the name!!! We will be heading back to Maine in Beacon, in April along The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, weather permitting. Looking forward to it. Enjoy you new Ollie. Are travels!
  4. Picked up our Ollie from Hideaway Storage on Sunday morning. The trailer was just as we left it. No issues. We left the fan on at 10% and it was 79 outside and 74 inside. We were in direct sun and no surprise the agm batteries were fully charged. This worked out well. I would do this again if we needed to store short term again in Naples. We leave Oscar Scherer State Park near Venice Florida for Suwnee River State Park in Live Oak the morning. Oscar Scherer State Park is in an excellent location and is well kept. The spots are a bit tight but private with lots of vegetation between sites and good shade. I would stay here again for sure. Awesome give me a call or pm when you're ready to plan. I think there are 14 or more Oliver owners in Maine. If you are planning anything on the Coast south of Acadia National Park for summer or Fall I would recommend making reservations as soon as you can. This also goes for the state parks especially Sebago lake, Baxter State Park, Wolf's Neck and others. Moorhead and Rangely lakes regions also fill up. There are lots of harvest host locations. We like the HH brewery in Boothbay. We are just up the coast from Boothbay right next to Pemaquid Beach. A hidden gem.

  6. We have the backup camera for the Ollie and when towing it becomes my rearview mirror. Like you I am always checking around. Good luck with your decision. We use a tonneau cover as that was the set up long before we had the Ollie. If I were starting new I would consider the cap with racks and side opening windows.
  7. Andersen leveling chocks in the rear. Andersen bucket in the front. 2, 6x6 pieces of pressure treated for the rear stabilizers.
  8. If you want to stay near south Naples or Marco Island in your Ollie, Collier Seminole State Park is pretty convenient in south Naples. Well run and clean restrooms. We have stayed there this year and two years ago.
  9. Our key pad came with a fob. We ordered thinks like the basket up crib so it was fully ready.
  10. We have our Ollie parked at Hideaway Storage of Naples on Progress Ave near Naples Airport. I worked the deal out with the manager Chris. $20 per day cash. No paperwork. I think we will be ok. We parked the Ollie yesterday and will pick it up on Sunday before we head north toward Venice. Lots of rv, boats and trailers, over 200 spots. Also saw 3 Airstreams. We are stored outside on the middle of the lot. There are a number of class A Pushers stored there. 6 cameras. Seems like an ok area. They are busy and I arranged this in April. Tell Chris you have a trailer like Matt from Maine. We found getting temporary storage challenging.
  11. We have done that at Stan's and it is a blast. We may try again. We like that place.
  12. I am somewhat kidding but you may also remind them that your quick thinking may have saved some lives and additional property damage resulting in much larger payouts. I am not sure if you have the same insurance company on your home or your driveway sustained any damage. Rivernerd is far more versed in this than I am. Good luck you did the Insurance company solid by being resourceful and putting out the fire your self. If you waited for the fire department no matter how quickly they arrived, it would have been worse. Good luck to you.
  13. We used Overland's design and a custom made top that folds like Overland's. We have Southern Mattresses that are similar to KTT. We will occasionally use the Lagun table for dinner and you can get 4 people around it. The folding leaves add great versatility. Our table is up all the time. We just fold up the leaves and swing it to the back of the trailer to keep the center isle clear when not in use. No tripping or stepping on those table brackets. I followed Overland's instructions on bracket installation. Out table is slightly narrower than Overland's. I am a little too short for my weight!! The Lagun bracket that attaches to the table top has grooves so you can attach the leg if you decide to remove and store the table. I rigged something up in our closet but have never used it. When we travel I swing the table over to the bed and drop it down on to the bed. I tighten the handles and put a pillow between the table and the wall and another between the table and the night stand just incase. The table has stayed in place. If Foy can make all of the components for you this is not a huge deal to install following Overland's instructions. We masked everything before drilling any holes and measured several times and made sure the the trailer was level so you could make sure the vertical leg is level when you mark your holes. One last key is for the best results you need to place the Lagun table bracket off center and not in the middle of the table tol as the Lagun set up is mounted to the side not center of the trailer. Overland's arrangement allows access to the basement door and night stand draw with the table attached and raised. Good luck. I think after using this arrangement for 70 plus days it is well worth the effort to install it using using Overland's method. Good luck
  14. This is too bad. And it really sucks on the vandalism. What are we comming too. It might be worth while to give them another call and inform them of how unhappy you are with their decision and that the trade value of the truck is greatly diminished due to the fire and corrosion. I would mention to them that you would prefer to not have to engage a lawyer but you may have to do that. The adjuster doesn't want to have to engage legal either internally or outside counsel. They generally have some flexibility. I worked for a different but very large national brand insurance company for over 20 years. While I was not on the casualty side of the business I did have many colleagues that were. I was able to use this approach when I was hit from the rear. I slow played the adjuster a bit refusing to sign off. Eventually they came up with more money and and I didn't have to engage a lawyer. Just a thought. Very fortunate you're ok. But wow. Good luck.
  15. We finally made it to Collier Seminole State Park in Naples yesterday after a 3 night stop in Aiken SC state park to see some family. We stopped 2 nights along the way from Aiken. We liked Little Manatee River State Park just south west of Tampa. This is our second visit to Collier Seminole park. There is another Oliver here. We stopped in and introduced ourselves. A husband and wife team that are full time RVrs. Interesting they have 2 tow vehicles and 2 RVs, one Ollie and one Airstream. They were parked side by side. Our Ollie, Beacon, was filthy after driving through the snow so I finally got it to a self service carwash bay to clean it up a bit. Far from perfect but less embarrassing. Most of the parks we have stayed at prohibit washing RVs. So from 19 degrees leaving Maine to 86 here in sw Florida in 2 weeks. The trip continues. We have covered 2500 miles already. We hope to catch up with some other Oliver owners that are a few towns away in the next few days. Picked up some fresh oranges at an Orange grove and had sundowners at Stan's in Goodland today. We are likely to go back next week with the rest of our family. Happy Holidays and Happy Camping.
  16. Thanks we will follow this advice. We don't drink from the water tank. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
  17. I am looking for some advice. We will be storing our Ollie in south Florida outside in the sun for a week. Our water systems were just serviced by Oliver 7 days ago as part of the annual maintenance plan. We have about half of a tank currently. Should we drain the freshwater tank for the week or leave it full? Thanks for your thoughts. It will be just a week and when we pick the trailer up we will begin using all of the systems right away.
  18. We had some warranty work done while we were traveling in the Florida keys. Our fridge wouldn't start. For us this is a big deal as we have a prescription that requires refrigeration. If it gets warm it is ruined. After some help from someone staying at the park we were able to get it to work on gas. We coordinated with Oliver. They didn't have a recommendation in the keys. So we tried to book someone our selves. The owner of the campground wouldn't let this vendor in to the park. Turns out he just takes people's money a d never finishes the job. We found a boat service tech who was great. He fixed the problem. Real nice guy. No issues since. Turned out that Norcold refrigerators are also used on a lot of boats. He was willing to submit his bill to Oliver and was paid directly. Keeping Oliver in the loop is key.
  19. We have a 26 gallon tank capacity on our Tundra and even when we are only getting 10 mpg it's range (just like SteveCr said) is almost always greater than my tank capacity!! We do try to keep at least 1/4 tank sof fuel at all times.
  20. Not alone on the wet socks. It is now on our departure and set up check list. Easy to miss!
  21. If you are purchasing a new trailer have you considered getting the Andersen hitch from Oliver. Most folks that I am aware of have purchased the hitch with their trailer. Oliver installed ours and also fit it to our Tundra. This included adjustments for height an proper tension. This was part of our delivery. Enjoy your new Ollie.
  22. Thanks. Fortunately for us the snow didn't accumulate on the highway the temps were in the high 20s to low 30s. Snow was accumulating on the sides of the roads and on the trees and grass. If it gotten much worse and started accumulating on the roads we would have pulled off and waited it out. Fortunately it was a small system heading west to east and we were going east to west so we got through it. The COE was awesome. We don't have many COE in the Northeast but we will definitely be going to more COE based on this recent experience we will certainly try these again. I have learned that if it is really cold it seems to work best if we really warm up the interior so the walls warm up before we drop the temp back down for the evening. Otherwise the walls stay too cool for my liking. If we have electric we use the vornado. If not we are good on gas. Thanks for following. More to come.
  23. Thanks. The Ollie is not as clean as it looks!!! Lots of streaks toward the front. No problems getting around Atlanta left the Campground around 9. We did have some slow down areas and lots of trucks but it went smoothly. I must be the slowest vehicle on the road! Can't wait to get to Collier and Lee county. Sunday morning we head south. Going to take it slow and try to average just over 200 miles per day. We like Collier Seminole State Park as we stayed there 2 years ago. Thanks
  24. We started our 4 1/2 road trip to the South and Southwest on November 30. It was 19 degrees when we left New Harbor, Maine at 4 AM. The first chilly night was designed to make mileage and crash for an overnight. We stayed in the Cracker Barrel in Frackville, PA. We have stayed here before. It is not busy and easy on and off. This day included 2 plus hours for driving in snow on route 84 and 81. First time pulling Beacon in the snow. It was cold down to 23 at night. The next evening we stayed at a Harvest Host in Wytheville, VA. Right off rout 81. The last half mile to the farm was a little challenging and included crossing a 12 ft wide wooden bridge. This was our first harvest host experience and it was very positive. We got some honey, eggs and an alpaca stuffed animal for our new grandson. I would highly recommend this host. Tom was really nice and other Oliver's have stayed there. We went in the pens with Tom and petted the alpacas. We learned a lot here. On to Pigeon Forge, TN and Pine Mountain RV Park. Great location if you like being near all the attractions but just off the parkway. Nice and very well kept full service r.v. Park. I would also recommend it. Very well kept and very clean with great showers. We spent 2 days in the Smoky Mountains. Then to Oliver for annual maintenance on Beacon. We stayed right at Oliver in their new campground. Service went great. There weren't any deliveries or others camped for service while we were there. There were new units brought over from the factory to be prepared for delivery. They also have a dump station. Very handy. Tonight we are at McKinney COE campground just north of Atlanta off route 75. Really nice spot. First time for us at a COE campground. Really nice and with d with my geezer pass hard to beat for $14. We got a pull through site right on the lake! Off to Aiken State Park in SC to see some family tomorrow. Sunday we start out trip to Naples FL. Here are some pictures.
