  1. At the Oliver facility campground tonight. Just pulled in. We are the only one here so far. Our Ollie goes in for service at 8AM. This is so nice. They even have a dump station. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that Oliver did this. I know it helps them with new trailer delivery too and not paying for David Crockett State park. I don't care, to have this after a 7 hour drive and to be so close for service is awesome. Thank you Oliver. The sites are nice and we hope to meet either a new owner or someone in for service when we pick up Tuesday afternoon. We will be here again Tuesday evening. Before heading to South Carolina.
  2. We have the shower curtain and it protects the door and toilet pretty well. We open the window and run the fan. I tend to get wet turn the water off, lather up and rinse. We don't end up with a lot of water all over. We don't have the shower grate but I think this might be a real nice option. Our preference would have been a dry bath with a separate shower. We have adapted to the wet bath and found the Oliver bath works fine. I am fairly large and am suprised how comfortable I am in the bathroom. I know some other Forum members have come up with their own modifications instead of the factory option for shower curtain. We are fine with the factory option and once the curtain is dry we just tie it up. Good luck with your decision.
  3. If I wanted to change some colors inside I would definitely follow John Davies advice and do the vinyl wrap. We like the ease of cleaning the factory jell coat. We have a bunch of my wife's photos mounted on canvas along with a couple decorative items held up by command strips. I have also seen some very nice vinyl graphics installed both inside and out. We know one Ollie that did a couple neat vinyl graphics inside including their bathroom. The vinyl is waterproof too. Prep work to paint the interior would likely ruin your jell coat and you would be out thousands of dollars to paint it and then later repair it back to original. That type of paint, is generally a 2 part paint with toxic fumes and for a great job probably needs to be applied via spray and professional car or boat painter.
  4. Thanks for the help and suggestions we are also heading to AZ. Tucson then north to the Grand Canyon then on to southern Utah, 4 corners then south to route 66 east, home via Memphis and Nashville on to the Blue Ridge Parkway and skyline drive. We are in the Smokey Mountains now and off to Honenwald for service Monday. Then to Naples Florida before heading to New Orleans. Lots of exploring this winter. Thanks for the suggestions. Much appreciated.
  5. Thanks for posting this Mike and Carol. We are taking a similar route in January we will leave New Orleans and head directly for Austin. After that we are going to Waco and Fort Worth. From there we are heading to Roswell NM. We appreciate the referrals. We will take I 10 from New Orleans but will look to go north of Houston if possible on our way to Austin. Thanks for all the great advice you offer on this Forum.
  6. If you want we should catch up. We will be in Naples prior to Christmas at Collier Seminole state park from there up the west coast to Oscar Shearer state park just north of Venice. From there toward Destin area then Dauphin Island Alabama. Then New Orleans, Austin, Waco, Ft Worth. Then to NM AZ and Utah. Then back on route 66 to OKC. From there 40 to Memphis and Nashville then home by mid to late April. Safe travels!!!
  7. Yes it is getting cold. We are leaving very early Tuesday morning. Hopefully by 4 am. Where are you folks headed this year?
  8. Thanks for the information and suggestions. We are going to stay at the Commodore in Linden as we have a dog. I spoke with Kathy at the Commodore today she seemed very helpful. I also spoke with Mike at Oliver service this afternoon. We are to tow our Ollie from the Oliver campground to service at 8 am. Then we fill out paperwork etc. He said we didn't need to do any specific preparation. We are going to stop at Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Dolly World, and some of the Smoky Mountains on our way to Honenwald. We may check out some of the suggestions. We are planning to hit Memphis and Nashville on our way home from Utah in early April but the Gaylord sounds worth checking out for sure during Christmas season.
  9. Our Ollie goes in Monday morning December 6, so we reserved the Oliver campground for Sunday and Tuesday. Figured by the time we get it back Tuesday it will be later and getting dark this time of year.
  10. Same for our Ollie. Beacon will spend Christmas in Florida.
  11. This really looks nice. We are going for annual service in early December. This seems like an awesome set up. I am looking forward to it.
  12. We will also be going through Texas in late January and part of February. We will be heading from New Orleans to Austin. Then to Waco, on to Fort Worth, then on toward Carlsbad, NM on our way to Tucson and up to the Grand Canyon. After what we saw last winter in the Dallas area we will definitely be keeping our eyes on the weather. We are open to suggestions on must see areas and great camping options we hope to use COE, state and national parks. We will also occasionally use some private campgrounds and Harvest Host. We have not reserved anything in Texas, NM, AZ or Utah yet. We are going to hit many of the National Parks IN UT. Then to route 66 east. Thanks
  13. Hi Folks any other suggestions that will allow a dog? Our Ollie is going in for service in early December. Thanks
  14. I'm glad you're both physically ok. Pretty scary! I would also be interested in the findings. We live about 15 miles from Mcb. Here is what I found under the hood of my 2008 Tundra in October of 2018. Good luck settling things.
  15. We are able to raise and lower the table and twist and turn it in almost any configuration. We do occasionally eat on it. We lower the table on to one of the twins for travel. Our table has folding leaves. I am not sure about the weight limit. We built the bracket per Overland's instructions. I made one small change to his bracket mounting in that I added aluminum backing plates on the back ant tip where it attached to the bed frame. It seems pretty sturdy. I also included washers per Overland's instructions. I am not great at finding things or posting them on this forum. Perhaps search Lagun and Overland's thread. I think our photos may be added there. Plus it has all of his instructions. Good luck.
  16. We have the cell booster and it helps. We also installed a lagun table ourselves. We did the side mount option following Overland's directions. We had a custom top made by a local craftsman. We have the twin bed plan. The side mount allows for the basement door. Ours is in use all the time. We also have 6 inch mattresses from southern mattress. The side mount is also further off of the floor allowing for more height. There is a member on this forum, Foy, that could probably make a top to your liking. You can order the lagun parts directly from lagun. Check out Overland's posting for very good directions. You can also find pictures of our installation. Ours is up all the time. I just lower it on to the bed for travel.
  17. Congratulations on your trailer. Like the lime green stripes
  18. I like Toyota and really like our 2008 Tundra 5.7 V8. There are 2 Things I wish were better on that truck, gas mileage and the brakes have always been squishy. My son owns a similar year Sequoia and his brakes are squishy too. Frankly, I was hoping for a bigger improvement in gas mileage. We have a new hybrid Highlander and we have been getting 37+ mpg. I am very happy with that. I will be interested to see the mileage on the hybrid Tundra.
  19. We just purchased a Vornado as we are heading out at the end of November. We are headed to Naples for Christmas but will be heading across Texas, New Mexico and Arizona then back through Southern Utah and then Route 66 to Oklahoma City. Then on to Memphis, Nashville and I'd we have time and conditions permitting the Blue Ridge Parkway, returning to Maine in late April. I tested the Vornado yesterday, another benefit is it is quieter than the furnace. We will use the heater any time we are able to have power. We have our Ollie stored inside our in heated barn. I don't like running the Ollie furnace in the barn. If we get a cold snap before we leave I will use the Vornado to keep the Ollie from freezing. Our first stop south is at the Oliver factory to have them go through our 2019 trailer that we picked up in October of 2019.
  20. Yes the fan on auto! I think there is a thread on the forum somewhere on this. Wayfinder, you're not alone on this. If I had not read about it in this forum I wouldn't have known. The thermostat is not intuitive. Good luck!!!
  21. So true. We own a small 22 ft day sailor and a 36 foot power boat. The Oliver is a deal and when and if we decide to sell it at least I expect to recoup a significant % of the purchase price. The sailboat was purchased used and I am slowly fixing it a little and also expect to get most of out investment back. The power boat not so much maybe 50% if lucky. This excludes all storage fuel and maintenance which is part of most any hobbies like these. We enjoy he boats and the Oliver so it is just fine making the financial commitment. At least for now, who knows priorities could change.
  22. I do as Naegele suggests, especially if the trailer has been sitting a while. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries. I am no expert but have also learned that turning on the propane valve slowly helps. Not sure why. I definitely get the stove running before turning on the furnace. I am not saying you can't turn the furnace on first. This is just my routine. Sorry you're having issues, it can be frustrating. Good luck.
  23. This is really helpful. We are scheduled for the full Oliver Service in early December. Our appointment starts first thing on Monday morning and was told to plan on getting our trailer back around 2pm on Tuesday. We are coming from Maine so we have arranged to park and have power at the service center on Sunday evening. We are also planning to stay Tuesday evening as it will be getting dark shortly after we pick up our trailer. We were planning to stay at the local dog friendly hotel in Honenwald on Monday evening as we will have our 1 year old puppy with us. I like the idea of perhaps going to Nashville. This service is on the front end of what we hope will be a 4+ month trip to Florida then west to the Grand Canyon, Utah, parts of route 66 then work our way home by mid April.
  24. We were much further up the coast from Bar Harbor for our recent short camping trip. It was terrific and not many tourists. The scenery is spectacular. It does lack the volume of great restaurants and shopping but tons of trails and hiking. We are busy where we live further south on the coast with summer folks. The local businesses cater to the summer folks and this is how many locals make money. The unfortunate part is there are so many more visitors and common courtesy and patience is no where near what it once was or should be. Just too many folks in a hurry and without realizing it trying to make this place like the place they came from. Sorry but lobster boats are out on the water at 4:30-5:00 am. If you live close to the ocean you will hear their diesel engines. Summer folks trying to get noise ordinances to have things quiet until 8:00 am. These fishermen need to work. They wake me up too. I would never ask cor an ordinance that would affect these fishermen. Oddly enough it is the beauty and charm of these small coastal villages that attract summer folks. Of course these are the same folks illegally setting off fireworks until 2 in the morning. Ok I will get off my soap box. I love this place. I do wish folks could just be more civil.
  25. Yes inspection, washing and waxing!. My Elite II takes me 2 days. I do a few hours at a time and am happy with the slow pace. I do it all by hand using McGuire's. Wax on wax off!!! We just got back so Beacon is ready for a bath and wax. Our next trip is not until right after Thanksgiving when we head to the Mother Ship for a full service and check before we head South to Naples FL then west to the Grand Canyon, Utah and route 66. We plan to be on the flat almost 5 months.
