Yep, I figured that would be the case. I just wanted to post the question while I was thinking of it, based on a post in Ollie-Haus’ thread. I did send Matt an email on Monday, but maybe he’s away all week.

The in-person walkaround will be great! But having never owned a trailer with plumbing, heat, or AC, I’m trying to learn (and retain) as much as I can ahead of time. 😁

Not to worry you will be drinking water out of a fire hose on delivery day! 😅 All kidding aside, it will be a lot of info, and yet a lot of fun. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our delivery day. Oliver made us both feel special and it was very memorable as it should be. The Oliver staff were very good to us. We hit the books, developed our check lists and did a lot of reading in Oliver University while our Oliver was being built. It made a huge difference for us as first time owners. The more you learn the better it gets!

@MDuncan You've got mail! Is this your area of expertise? We have 18 days until delivery, and while we've already watched the 2020 delivery video, I'd sure like to see the ins and outs of the new AC/heater, fridge, and solar controller ahead of time.

    Thanks!!

Matt is likely off for the weekend. Hopefully you will hear something back this coming week. Wow! Just think you will have a live and in person walk around of YOUR Ollie in 18 days! Whoo hooo!! Exciting times!

Now y'all have started something. I've got three of those locks so this may be my first mod to the camper once it arrives. 😉

    Chris,

I know you will be all over this mod with along with a list of many others after you take delivery.
Speaking of delivery day yours is fast approaching! I know you both have to be excited.
    That’s awesome!

Well, Patriot - I totally copied your great idea for the LPG tank crossbar wing nut & Springfield XD slide-lock mod...  "Tanks" a lot, brother!

Haha! Looks great! And a fine use of the XD cable lock.

Tank you! Just passing it forward! 😅

pretty sure it is a Kia.  The unique body line at bottom of B pillar, unique eyebrow roofl;ine at top of Windshield and mirror turn signal slits match up.  From what I have seen, a Telluride has a 5,000 lb tow capacity.

You sir are correct! See pic above. 👍🏻

I believe the TV is a KIA Telluride.

Yes, it appears to be a Kia Telluride, not a Volvo. It has different side mirrors and no fuel door on the left rear pass fender well.  A tow rating of 5500# 😳

I have a little bit of that diamond plate left, so if needed I can cut a strip 2-3" wide for the bottom of the flap. Also if it really comes down to it I could get some wider rubber flaps and make my top stiffener a few inches wider. We'll test it out and go from there.

That would work. Looks great, nice job!

Awesome job Chris! They look great and will certainly reduce the road missiles and road rash from hitting the front of your Ollie. You may or may not need to add an anti sail plate like I did. Total 💯👍🏻👍🏻.

Through the years, I've heard many of us say we travel with a full fresh tank. We do and I think it is a good idea. You really never know when you may accidentally find yourself stuck somewhere with no access to water. Folks worry about the mileage hit from hauling the extra weight. Truthfully, according to Newton’s first law of motion, once an mass is in motion, it maintains the same motion unless acted on by force. In other words, after you've gotten the full fresh tank up to speed (using a force from the truck's engine) it does not require any additional force to keep it moving at the same speed.

A great analogy Steve, and I agree 💯. When Kathy and I are traveling and towing our Oliver it is our second home. We always carry a full tank of water, our LP fueled Honda gen, bottled water, plenty of food and many of the creature comforts of home.
Needless to say we don’t travel light, but do travel ready to camp and live comfortably while exploring.

Will it be garaged?  With the truck with the 8' box+Crew or Mega Cab easily fit into your garage?

FWIW, that extra 20" of wheelbase can also make a difference at many campsites.

If usually camping with 2 adults, I would prefer the CrewCab with 6'4" box.   I would sacrifice the 50-gallon fuel tank for the greater parkability, and probably slightly better gas mileage.

    💯agree.

We purchased the receiver option from Oliver. The receiver from Oliver is a 2 inch receiver with an insert to make it 1 1/2”. When I got back to Oregon, I went to a local machine shop and had them remove the insert. Now our 2 inch bike rack fits perfectly.

Between the rack and both bikes, we are still under the 150 lb limit.

We have towed almost 7 K mile with this configuration and we have had no problems.

    Good luck with your outfit.

    Carl,

A great report and thank you for posting up your use and mileage stats.
Hopefully this puts any concerns about removing the 1.25 core and using the Oliver aluminum 2” sleeve finally to rest. Simply staying under the weight limit is key.
We really like our 1Up double bike rack.

  12. Rene,

Ultimately the choice of what new TV you buy is yours. Regardless of what brand truck you decide to purchase you may really want to factor in how long your warranty is post sale. All trucks now are what I call rolling IPads jam packed full of very sensitive electronics. Like you have pointed out, purchase a truck that fits your needs and most of all your budget.

I think everyone would agree, the price of new trucks and cars has really gone up. All the more important to do your homework and not feel rushed to buy. It will all work out.

Melody, while I am sorry you already bought your truck and have some rearranging to do now, I am very thankful that you asked the question.  I am in the market now for a new, or at least maybe new to me, and all of this is so helpful.  I am getting my TV situated before I order my LE2 a few months from now.   Thanks for all the amazing information everyone!

@Rene, Very wise, good for you!
