  1. That does not seem normal at all. If nothing else you could give OTT Service a call in the morning and ask if it’s normal or what the cause could be? Maybe email Jason or Mike a photo, just a thought. Please let us know what you learn and hopefully it’s a minor repair. And thank you for the reminder, I need to get busy and do maintenance on mine. 😊

  2. @RichM Enjoy your delivery day and ask lots of questions. It will be like trying to take sips of water from a fire hose there will be so much new info coming at you on delivery day. Enjoy it and have fun! If time allows schedule in a few extra days of camping locally near Oliver at David Crocket SP.

here - https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/tennessee/lawrenceburg/david-crockett-state-park-2647 This will give you an opportunity for a decent shake down of your Olivers systems. Any issues can be quickly addressed by Oliver Service before heading back home. Trust when I suggest  this extra few days of Oliver “shakedown time” is well spent if you can make time for it.

Congrats on your delivery day and welcome!

    Safe Travels!

    Our approaches tackle different topics.

    • Mine saves time and knuckle damage.  I do note that your all-thread rod is MUCH shorter than the one that came on my 2018 OE2.  With your shorter all-thread this mod may not be necessary.  But it still raise the wing nut up away from the tank shrouds a bit.
    • Yours mod would for sure improve security and is also really easy to do.  With your fire arms lock, you have spare cable to raise your wing nut up as well as improving security too.

    I like it!

    Thanks!
As a side note I have no intention of ever bumping up to 40# LP tanks. 30 pounders are plenty for our needs. I was curious to just measure and see if 40# would fit to help answer dewdev’s question.
I’ll take a pass on be bending the wing nut up as it really has not posed any concerns for me when removing it. Once it’s loose it just about  spins off.

    Onward!

Are there 40 gallon tanks available?

Will they fit in an Elite II?

dewdev, a great question. I looked up the 40# specs and found this one at HD.

    The 30# LP  specs -

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Flame-King-30-lbs-Empty-Propane-Cylinder-with-Overfill-Protection-Device-Valve-YSN301/302560758

So a 7” height difference from a 30# to a 40#.  The circumference is just smidge larger on the 30# vs the 40#.

I stepped out back and took a photo of my current 30# tank height of 23” in comparison to a 40# measuring 30” tall. (pic) It looks like a 40# might fit, but without actual trying to fit  one I can’t say for certain. It looks pretty close.

These are all great little fixes that I'm sure I'll utilize once Ollie-Haus arrives. I'm OCD about fixing the little things that can be improved for everyday use. BTW I recognized that Springfield Armory pistol lock you used on your tanks immediately!😆 I own more than one version of the XDm line they offer and each comes with the same lock. You've discovered a better use for it. 😉

That’s all a part of making your Ollie yours! 👍🏻👍🏻😊

  6. I opted to go a different route and use the wing nut as a lock. I used a drill bit and an old firearms cable lock to at least try and secure the tanks. I could have used a padlock I suppose. This cable lock has molded plastic around the lock and won’t rattle or bang on the tanks under tow. Can it be defeated? Yes as most locks can be. It may slow a thief down. When I switched over to 30# tanks I installed a shorter threaded rod readily available at Lowe’s or HD.

Glad you got to tour an LEll!
In the summer of 2021 we traveled from our home in Western NC to Gulf Shores Alabama, then back home to restock. We then left on a trip to New England and camped in NY, NH, Vt, and Me reserving campgrounds along our route. In total we visited 16 states and 22 CG’s and were never turned away do to the size/length of our Oliver. So it really depends on what your travel and camping needs are going to be. We are totally fine with the wet bath vs a dry bath.

Based on our experience and we are not experts by any stretch, the Oliver LEll works great for our needs. And as @johnwen mentioned the resale of an Oliver vs a stick built is worthy of consideration.

All the best in your decision,

Oliver had both models in Brandon, Florida last week, so my wife and I scheduled to see them. Oh, yeah, nice!!!!

Now I want one--now its just timing!

Question. In planning trips, I saw RV Wizard searching internet. Is this a good way to plan?

    Any others better?

    Thanks for info.

    Future Oliver owner☺️

    Dwain,

Great first step in scheduling to see an Oliver. Hopefully someday you will make it out to Oliver to Hohenwald, Tenn and take the factory tour. I strongly recommend it. 💯 totally worth the time and effort seeing in what goes into building an Oliver from start to finish. Total wow factor! 😊. Give sales rep Anita Johnston a call at Oliver and she will get you scheduled when your ready for a factory tour.

There are a lot of apps out there for sure. One in particular that we like and use a lot is this one for vetting CGs. We use the free app.

  9. We always carry a Road Atlas and paper maps as a back up for use in combination with our Garmin 890 GPS. The paper maps can really come in handy on those roads less traveled. Lucky me, my bride and “navigator” is an excellent map reader.

We dropped our land line and answering machine several years ago after retiring. Zero regrets as  we really don’t miss any of the silly random political and marketing calls at especially dinner time or worse in the middle of the night. Only cell phones now.

Never came back and posted the results of our service to the thread.

When we got home I called Truma, and they had us take our trailer to a local RV center that is a certified dealer. After consultation between the tech on site and Truma, they decided to replace the entire unit. There was never a really clear diagnosis, and Truma had the original shipped back to their engineering group for analysis.

Unfortunately, a series of miscues and a novice service advisor made the replacement process take about three months. 😞 Ultimately we have a brand new unit, the warranty has been restarted, and Hull 1030 “Reset” has hot water again.

One note when doing this type of replacement - make sure if you have the winter kit you assure that the kit is transferred to the new unit. In our case the tech shipped it back with the old unit - since the instructions said “ship all parts back.” After some back and forth Truma sent a brand new one which was easy to install.

So - in the end I don’t feel like I can enlighten the group as to what the problem was, since the RV Tech and Truma really did not have anything definitive. In my limited experience that says “logic board” but it could be anything. I will say that the Truma customer service was great - very open and communicative and willing to get involved with the dealer when things bogged down.

    DunnYet,

Thanks for posting your update even though you never found out exactly what the cause of your issue was. It’s good to hear Truma did take care of you and that their customer service was great and as you say they were willing to get involved. 👍🏻

We have the standard floor plan so no nightstand.  We use one of these and plug it into the cigarette lighter port above the stove.  It has a Type C 30 watt fast charging port, two USB ports, plus you don't lose your cigarette lighter port so in theory you can charge 4 items at the same time.  It has a continuous readout of battery voltage as well.

I typically charge my dog tracking collar, phone (fast charge) and Garmin InReach through it at the same time.  It has worked just fine so far.

    @Chukarhunter
A nice option for that port above the stove. I like the read out as well.

Why not just plug it into one of the duplex outlets flanking the night stand?  It would avoid the visible cord from above?

    GJ

There are no outlets flanking the night stand, hence the mod. On the newer model Olivers the number of outlets has been reduced. And a few inches of cord visible at that location is really not a distraction at all. At least for us! 😊
