  1. We did some research on the AS forums on the Base Camp and a few other models back in 2019-20 when we were looking to purchase a TT. Besides being way to small after seeing one at a local dealer, We then read on the AS forum all the complaints regarding water leaks with the BC other models resulting in rotting and molding floors.
Needless to say we never returned to the AS dealership in Greensboro, NC.

  2. We have the standard toilet and no shower curtain and honestly have never thought we needed one.
We use a squeegee on the walls and floor after a shower and it works great.

So no curtain for us, it would be just another item to clean.

Love the pipe cleaner idea and will use that whenever we're traveling. Had some issues with occasional small leaks from the windows myself while stored, but after a good track cleaning, and adding a piece of Saran Wrap on the window that also overlaps the window track, I've had zero problems. I think the biggest issue with Ollie windows is that small debris can get past that small gap between the outside rubber seal and the glass that eventually builds up to the point that where it blocks the weep holes. For me, the Saran wrap has solved that issue. Might start using a piece of window film instead for a solution that  lasts longer and is reusable.

    CRM,

Your on point with keeping the window tracks clean. We clean the tracks every time we wash our Ollie after every trip. Its easy so why not? I have never used the pipe cleaners or had a need for them. We do have the rain gutters which I think do divert the water away as designed. We have been through some very hard all night torrential rain storms without any water issues.

We camped at State Forest State Park, Colorado a couple of weeks ago.  It’s the largest state park in Colorado with multiple campgrounds and lots of dispersed sites.  It’s just north of Rocky Mountain National Park and east of Steamboat Springs, so all the sites are at elevation.  There is one campground that has 30a electric hookups, we didn’t see it so can’t comment.  Our site was at 9,100’ and except for one night of torrential rain the weather was great, highs in the upper 70s and lows in the high 30s.  All propane appliances worked as they should (furnace, hot water tank, cook top and Weber grill).

State Forest State Park is in Routt National Forest.  This is about 20 miles from our campsite.

This is in Bockman campground.  9,100+ feet elevation.  Dry camping but there were a couple of well maintained vault toilets.

The Weber fired right up despite the elevation.  Steaks in the Rockies can’t be beat.  Orvis flannel required.

This lake (can’t remember the name) was just a few miles from our site.  There were a dozen or so camping sites around the lake, well spaced.  I wish I would have done more research as they looked very nice.

Still a little snow up there.

Carol got good use of her flannel as well.  Beats south Texas summer heat!!

    Mike,

Wow! You and Carol are living the dream! Thank you for your inspiration to travel and sharing your adventures. Your photos and write ups really have us dialed in on spending time in Colorado. Kathy and I love it that you actually post up while your camping! Keep the photos coming! We really enjoyed dinner at Crawmama’s and finally meeting you both at the last Rally. Those steaks look amazing! Keep up the posts!

I’m surprised this is happening? Doesn’t Oliver still have the booth that simulates heavy rain for thirty minutes to check for internal leaks?  Maybe not, production may be moving to Quickly.

They do have a really large rain simulator or giant Ollie wash/wet weather booth. We saw it during our factory tour in Jan of  2020. I don’t know if they had this back in 2017, If I had to guess I would say they surely must have. I can’t imagine that this critical and very important step would be by bypassed in production by Oliver regardless of the pace of production.

Curious if the caps "screw" in or do they simply slip in?  Getting the cap on and off on my trailer is a two handed operation which is what I would like to mitigate with quick connects.  Thanks,  BTW:  Eley are the absolute best!

This should help answer your question -the caps screw in. And I like having the safety chain as an added security measure to keep from loosing one of these while in transit.

Ridgway State Park, CO just a couple of weeks ago.  Warm days but overnight lows around 50, good sleeping weather.  Visited Ouray (30 minutes away) and Telluride (50 minutes away).  There are several campgrounds in the park, FHU to no HU, depends on what you want.

  8. paddlebum52, welcome to the forum!
There is a metric ton on info on here, lots to read.😊 The search function/window is a great way to explore and answer many of your questions. If you contact Oliver directly they will also help you set up a visit with a local Oliver owner in the area you live in. Many owners are very willing to show you their Olivers and give you real world experience and feedback. I would also suggest you watch the Oliver maintenance videos and check out Oliver University. Another suggestion is to schedule a factory tour so you can see all that goes into building an Oliver and enjoy the wow factor! I feel sure you will find lots interesting thoughts, ideas, mods, and many “opinions” regarding Oliver TT ownership experiences on this fourm. If you use Facebook there is an Oliver TT owners group there as well where a lot of info is also posted.

We purchased our Oliver Legacy Elite ll in June of 2020 and are very happy with it!
Let the reading and research begin and enjoy the fourm and ask away!😊

Great photos and info on your visit to Lakeport SP. Based on your photos and review we will keep this one on our list. The Great Lakes have a lot of beautiful areas to camp.
    Thank you for sharing!

  10. I decided to order these much higher quality Eley QC’s based on a recommendation from another member on here. Verrrrry nice and very high quality vs the aluminum Chinese junk sold on Amazon (above). These are made in the USA 🇺🇸 and top shelf. I would purchase these again based on the fit and finish and they come with a 10 year warranty.  Order here if interested -   https://www.eleyhosereels.com

Current prices for fuel certainly cut down on "fun" money but will not stop me from any of my planned summer trips - to include the annual Owner's Rally in May.

I agree with you Bill, if one has to begin to study fuel prices and/or counting mpg’s they just might be in a hobby that maybe too costly. Whether driving a motor coach or pulling a travel trailer and all expenses that go along with it, suffice to say, RVing is not by any stretch a money saving endeavor.
We looked at long range costs closely before diving in to pulling a TT, camping and travel and planned accordingly. Like you and others we are not going to let fuel prices keep us from traveling and fulfilling retirement travel goals and dreams. Fuel prices are what they are at least for now and we are just going to absorb it.

Good catch, you have to be really careful about cheap hoses and connectors. Most are plated aluminum, once that plating is disturbed by normal use, you get dissimilar metal corrosion and white powder, and they can freeze solid to a steel part like your house hose bibb. Most of the $25 “contractor grade” hoses sold at box stores is actually garbage grade. Brass metal prices have really gone up in the last couple of years, so if it seems too good a deal it probably is not real brass.

These ones are the real deal, I use them around my house but not on the Ollie. They are superior quality, massive, rebuildable, and have a 10 year no-questions-asked warranty, like their hose reels. I have two of those😬 and some of their nozzles and manifolds.

After receiving another set of garbage quick connects off Amazon and this second set leaked. I ordered a set of (4) of these as they are as you said “the real deal”.

    eleyhosereeels.com has fast shipping too!

    Thanks for posting these up!

I’m just surprised they are still offering the Dometic. Unless you rarely use AC, no reason to go with Dometic and it will impact resale by whatever the upgrade cost ultimately becomes.  I bet by the 2024 run all Truma components will be the standard, hot water, furnace and AC.

Once you get over $80-90k, the demographic would suggest the add-on is just a rounding error for discretionary income. Look what Airstreams sell for with much higher volume. The market is there for only 300 trailers a year.

To your point Ralph while we were recently having service done on our 2020 and one of the sales reps mentioned to us that a new 2023 pretty much loaded would top out at an eye popping $107k 😳 …wow is all I could think. I am not sure I am seeing that kind of discretionary spending for an Oliver, but hey if they can sell them at that price well good for Oliver and great for owners as far as resale goes.

I think of what we paid in June of 2020 with a significant discount in writing, I am very happy we purchased when we did. The days of any discount are rear view mirror images long gone. Oliver was producing 2-3 units a week we learned during our last service visit. It will be interesting to see what future sales look like.

I'm sorry I don't recall the part number, and it isn't clear to me that the same cap would fit your awning anyway.  My awning is powered.  I would contact Panther RV and give them the model number of your awning.  I found them very helpful, and the part they shipped was the correct one.

    No worries Bill, thank you.

Been hitching mine dry.  Approx 8000 mi towing in less than a year.  No abnormal wear so far.

The Andersen greaseless ball has served me well with no noticeable or excessive wear with the bulldog hitch and no greasy mess to clean up and zero squeaks. I shed no tears when we sold our Andersen WDH after purchasing a TV that does not require a WDH.

Nice addition!  I purchased a round motion sensor light for the pantry that is battery operated and has worked well and stayed put.  I love the light coming on automatically when I open that cupboard!  I have one on the ceiling by the entry door as I always have my arms loaded with things to carry in or out.   I think these areas should have had lights to begin with..but I'm happy with the mod.  The only issue with the entryway is the dog activates it in the middle of the night!

Your light bar would work awesome in the fridge too!  I have that style in there as well!

    Claudia,

Which motion light did you install? Care to share a link?

    Thanks!
