Thank you! I am probably about to buy more stuff I don’t need. But this is *very* helpful. I do have a receiver (class IV). I do have a locking hitch pin. I do NOT have the ball mount or the hitch ball. I assume the OTT people provide those parts, are they not part of the “bulldog” and “Anderson” I am getting with the Elite 1?
-
I hope so. Rep says I DO need the big YELLOW REESE THING. I have never been so confused in my life.
-
Nice rep says I do need the Yellow REESE thing he sent pic of. gah!!!

All: some day I will look back on all this and laugh. I am already laughing at myself. Need a clue bat upside the head, I do. They probably sell clue bats on Amazon. Heh. I drive to pickup the Elite one in 10 days. The OTT people will be laughing too, I’m sure. “So, you’ve NEVER towed anything, have a new truck that can launch missiles, don’t understand your new truck’s features yet, and don’t know anything about hitches and couplers and receivers and locks. Well played!” Haha
-
PS. I looked at the #1 thing’s pics at the Amazon link. I think I see where I am confused. Or was. I don’t have the thing with the ball on it. I DO have the square thing (receiver) as part of the truck. The Amazon pics: Have: square hole thingy. Don’t have: big ball thingy coming out of square hole thingy.

Ha. Yeah I can def disguise things in truck (and do). I can’t try the #1 thing I already bought yet? Because I don’t have anything to try it IN yet? I mean, the truck has the towing “package” but not that “thing” the pic (link #1 going to Amazon) shows the #1 thing going INTO. I am assuming that OTT is giving me that? Is that not the Anderson I am getting? I am about to give up and if I don’t have something on delivery day, I will be running around trying to buy it. Gah. Lingo is killing me here. LOL

THANK YOU. So I do NOT need to buy anything else? Just keep the two things I already bought and take them with me to delivery day, YES? I seem to have trouble communicating clearly sometimes lately; it's stress, I think.

I am getting the 2021 Elite 1 (with the Anderson hitch). Already know opinions on the Anderson, so that's not why I am posting. What I need, if anyone would be so kind as to help, is to know what I need to SECURE the trailer, hitch, etc. so that when I park (truck and trailer hitched together) and go walking or whatever, they are still together (as in "not stolen"), and also so that when I unhitch the truck and drive the truck somewhere leaving the trailer parked (at a site, etc.) no one can swipe the trailer. (I want to do the best I can to secure it all, basically, at least, for now. I will not be staying in "iffy" places. I am new, brand new. And having a helluva time understanding some of this. I emailed my fabulous sales rep and I am still just confused (it's not the rep's fault!). So can you guys take a look at this and help me understand in VERY simple YES OR NO answers, a couple quick things? 1. I bought this. 2. I bought this. And I already had one of those round keyed locks one uses to lock a storage space in a self-storage facility. 3. Nice rep says I need this. 4. Nice rep says I need this. DO I RETURN the two items I bought (#1 and #2 above), because Amazon WILL still let me as of now? AND THEN INSTEAD get the two items shown in #3 and #4? If YES, can someone give me a link to those two items on Amazon, as I don't know the brand, or what goes with my truck or the Andersen, etc. correctly. Thanks! Tow Vehicle is Class IV Receiver, if that matters.

I have a Ring battery cam I may try to stick up somewhere (since I already have the stuff) and stream to the cloud (requires getting a Ring plan). And yeah, it requires wifi, but the "deterrent" effect of it might even help, some, never know. I have an electric plugin one as well, and the blinking light with night vision may be a little 'disconcerting' at least, to the average criminal. (O/T, most criminals aren't exactly Einsteins. To wit, I used this set up once to catch a creep harassing me at a sticks and bricks residence. Idiot kept coming by in the middle of the night, making threats. Total stranger (drunk, yelling threats, put a small boulder on the hood of my car, and no it wasn't a bad 'hood). The cops came and saw the footage, Lots of it. Kind of a slam dunk. The game is to do your best to not be the low-hanging fruit. I once had neighbors who left their cars unlocked on their driveways and sent panicked emails to everyone in the development (HOA, shudder) about their car "being broken into." I did a lot of eyerolls.

I just stayed with Geico, for now, anyway. They're easy to deal with, and got me a binder already for delivery day. I get tons of discounts from them because of multi-lines and long-term customer, whatever. May shop around later but I didn't think it was too bad for a brand-new Ollie, FT, etc. I did get total replacement cost, made sure they will tow the trailer if that ever comes up, etc. YMMV.
-
I know nothing about these gadgets (in case that isn’t obvious) but I’d like to find something good and hide it well in the Ollie. So IF a bad guy ever tries to make off with it I might at least be able to give the police something to start with. If that makes sense.

I am in the market for an InReach, and just returned to this thread to see which model, etc., so thanks all. I am pickup up the Ollie 1 soon (!!) finally, and want something to track both the Ollie (if stolen) and me (if lost in the woods, not that I would actually go way out in the woods, but hey, better safe than sorry). 🙂

Thanks, I pretty much assume (at this point) that a lotta things are not exactly the same on Elite 1 as Elite 2, when I read through things most people seem to have the Elite 2. So I’m not taking any chances and going with easy things that don’t affect the “guts” of the Elite 1 (if that makes sense) as I read through stuff here. Your tips about the heater (non-tipping) I had already read about but def bears repeating! Thanks for the 2 wattage rec. I’ve been kinda looking at them but haven’t gotten anything yet. Nice blanket and big ole dawg, FTW! 🙂

Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)
Moonlight Mile replied to Moonlight Mile's topic in General Discussion
WIll this one work? It's 25' but "3/4" whatever that is. And a lightning deal for another couple hours. I know I don't need the garden-y spray nozzle but it has decent reviews and says it is "lightweight." -
This is SO cool. Thank you so much for collecting and sharing all this. I'm totally new (not yet in my Elite 1) and worrying about cold temps and such. And propane use (I'll have 2 20lb tanks, and the solar panels). Thinking about getting a space heater just in case; OTT assures me I need do nothing special to safely/effectively use my Elite 1 in temps down into the single digits, BTW.

Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)
Moonlight Mile replied to Moonlight Mile's topic in General Discussion
So, are all these water and rinse hoses (not sewer) 1/2" or 5/8" diameter? I've never bought the right sizes even with garden hoses. Seems to be a family curse. I'll get the thing home and it won't connect to whatever I had, etc. GAH! And does my Elite 1 have the "winterization port"? I still have to watch all the OTT videos, making my way through. -

Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)
Moonlight Mile replied to Moonlight Mile's topic in General Discussion
I will likely mark the heck out of it (red! red! red! tape all over it or take a sharpie and draw skulls on it, heh) OR sure, buy a grey one for black tank duties and divvy up the two I have (Ollie's hose and the heated water hose I bought already) as you said. Just to be extra sure. The Zero G looks great; yeah the heated water hose I got is bulky and I wish I had waited. I am not buying ANYTHING ELSE, as of a few days ago the overwhelm really hit me and I think I am overdoing it all. Had to take a break. If I get to Hohenwald in late Jan, early Feb (camping extra days at the SP OTT puts you up at that first night) and DO NOT HAVE something I really did need, I will post about it here in all caps. LOL -
Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)
Moonlight Mile replied to Moonlight Mile's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Bill! I don’t think OTT will supply the “separate dedicated hose for rinsing the black tank,” right? So I need to buy . . . what? A garden hose (10’?) or? -
Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)
Moonlight Mile replied to Moonlight Mile's topic in General Discussion
Glad I asked! Thank you! I am NOT gonna get a 50” sewer hose. No way. I may try the supplied one that comes w the Elite 1 at first and see how it goes. Figure there is some “reason” it seems like most of you guys are using some other one/brand? Better quality? -
Sewer Hose for Elite 1 (2021)

That Valterra 15’ scrunchy looks good to me! Thanks! -
Hiya, Have been told that I should invest in a 50’ quality sewer hose. My sales rep at OTT says a 20’ sewer hose comes w my 2021 Ollie Elite 1 (delivery late Jan 2021) but then added this: “Though we do supply a 20’ sewage hose, if you wanted to buy another one, you can. There are higher grade ones online.” Anyone point me to a good one? I’ve reserved a couple campgrounds and reviews at a few say it’s hard to reach the connection point (whatever that’s called) and it sounds like a good quality sewer hose will be good to have? The new Ollie also comes with a water hose but on various recs I bought a 25’ heated water hose. I can’t put too much more stuff in my Ram truck to make the trip to Hohenwald in late Jan 2021, so I wondered if, aside from chocks and the leveler blocks — I should try to get these other things NOW. It’s gonna be COLD in TN, possibly snow. I don’t wanna have frozen pipes or hoses. Staying at David Crockett SP on OTT the first night and booked extra days and nights there so I can get set up for cold and have OTT nearby if anything is wrong etc. Noob and towing toward TX in early Feb. Thanks, all.

I am glad I found this post. Not experienced at all with travel trailers and picking up Elite 1 late Jan. I am already a bit overwhelmed with trying to figure out what I need to bring (dog, hah, and will be FT in Elite 1). Dead of winter in TN for picking up (delivery day), and gonna stay at David Crockett State Park a few extra days on my own dime to learn and — be sure all these things are working properly while I am somewhat close to Ollie factory. Then heading thru AR, one night, and onward to TX. I’m sure Josh will get me in for any issues if they exist — while I am at DCSP that first week. Gotta admit though, this made me a bit more nervous than I already was.
