Cold weather rating for RVs?
Dave Mazone replied to Steve and MA's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I got to test mine down to about 16 degrees on my way home from Hohenwald. We were very comfortable. I have noticed the heat "blast" issue with the vents though. My vent by the beds is uncomfortably hot, while the bathroom's tend to be enough only to break the chill factor out of the air. I still love my Ollie! -
That was it Galwaygirl! Thank you! It boiled down to simply rescanning after a cable connection. That's probably what Mike was also implying, but I didn't get it. Thank you guys...We love you.

Thank you, Galway Girl. I have turned off the switch and am rescanning now.

Hi Mike, Yes, I have that switch. It has a connection for satelite and TV1. Neither has a cable attached though. I am rescanning now and...

Oh how I struggle with technology! I connected to cable at my campground and connected to the cable port on my Ollie. What in the world do I have to do to get the cable channels? (2022 OEII) I have tried everything I know on the remote...nothing helpful in the manuels.

Yes! I have that system...it's wonderful. Do it all single-handedly and fast. Of course, you still need lift aids, but seeing when everything's level is great and seeing it from the cab of the truck as you position it. I'll add that it also remembers how high your hitch needs to be to reconnect. That saves another jump out of the truck to check. Add a remote hitch camera and life is getting really easy.

Hi Mike and Carol, I purchased my device from Lone Star Tracking. The particular model hasn't been available for months (because I wanted to get the same one), but I'm sure their other models are good too. Originally I had a little difficulty setting it up (I'm not very IT savvy), but immediately reached a helpful person when I called and he walked me right thru it. The device has been working well, as I get my text messages almost immediately upon moving the trailer. I cannot remember what I paid for it, but I want to say somewhere in the $100 to $200 range. My model was a subscription service which added (I think) $130 a year. The benefit to this one is that it updates the location every couple of minutes (vs. per hour or longer) and it is world-wide tracking - I don't think it'd go that far, but I love my Ollie, so I'm prepared for anything!

The best recovery device is a hidden GPS device. I had a utility trailer stolen last year and wished I had installed one. Fortunately, it was recovered several months later, with a lot of damage. Now repaired, it also sports a hidden GPS device. Of course, 1st defense are good locks, but they'll still get it if they want it. A new GPS is definitely going on my Ollie.

I picked up 2-14-22. I didn't know anything about it until I was called on my way home from Hohenwald. Too far gone already, I had them mail it home to me.

Maybe they forgot mine. I picked up my trailer 2-14-22; that's pretty new - lol.

Greetings all. When the plant sends you that nice little Hull Plaque with your number, where's the correct (or best place to put it? (BE NICE!)

Being a former big rig driver, I was taught that YOU are responsible for the clearance, regardless of the signs. Experience showed me that those measurements are typically the low points, whether to the side of the bridge or within the tunnel. However, don't assume that they update the signs when they've done road maintenance (like resurfacing). I have seen signs under my 13-6 that I determined I had plenty of room (but was sweating bullets nonetheless) and bridges it said I'd clear, but I wouldn't try. Consider getting a retractable pole and mark the max height of the trailer on it. Stop and poke around when in doubt...60, 75, 85 grand is a big personal gamble! Safe journies.

Greetings, Pardon me if this is already covered, but the search I attemped was either 0 or thousand plus... When storing your Ollie for a couple weeks or even a few months, should some liquid be left in the toilet and all other tanks to keep the seals from drying out? Also, shouls the Ollie be stored level, or withe front end slightly raised? Or, does any of this matter at all?

Thanks, Mossey. Yes, I knew better than to not mess with the sizes or drill-out cable ends (I don't know why, but I knew you shouldn't). You're probably right about the disconnect. I'll do some more research. I think Steph pin-pointed my other concern (why do I still have power when my negative cables are disconnected?), because I was still plugged into my truck! Still a novice, but enriched because of you guys. Thank you.
-
OMG! Yes! I was still plugged into the 7-pin. You asked the RIGHT question, Steph. Thank you.

Hi Mossey, I have the AGM's and I disconnected three different cables that lead into the Ollie (just the negative side). The cut off I attempted to use just has a lever the you pull up to severe the connection to the battery. The lever had two different sized holes, one with threads and the other without. The cables wouldn't slide over éither termimal I tried to use (and I didn't feel comfortable drilling the holes larger). I hope the pictures help my explanation.
-
I'm dumbfounded (perhaps a little dumb, too). In an attempt to eliminate the power drain, I tried to install a cutoff switch...didn't work. Since I was sending my new Ollie to covered storage, I shut off the solar and disconnected the negative battery terminal (the one with cables going into the hull). To my surprise, all my lights still turned on. What the heck? I really hate electrical. Any help?

Thank you, Mike.

Hello fellow Ollies, When disconnecting one of the ground cables on the battery to avoid the rapid depletion of volts, will any of the electronics require resetting when reconnecting the battery? (Electricity is my greatest weakness and am always fearful of doing something harmful or painfully struggling to correct my consequence.)

Scratch that...185 (You must muliply first.)

See next...I bloopered

Thank you, everyone...good comments.

Hello Ollie offspring, I'm on order and have ordered the twin bed floor plan with the Lagun table. I am curios as to where that stows. Also, what are the best ideas for back cushions when not using as a bed (size, firmness and such).
