  1. Yes, it was expensive. But at the time, there were not other options in the market due to Fein's patent. It's saved the day countless times, and well worth the expense over the long run.
  2. That’s disappointing. There can’t be much cost savings in avoiding cutting out that small opening and dropping in a wooden box. Sounds like I’ll be pulling out the Fein oscillating tool!
  3. Cool thread. I’m not putting a Vargas style pin-up off @DebMon the front, though. 😉 I know what mine is going to be, but I’m not sharing yet. Two nights ago I was smacked in the face with a bit of inspiration, and I can’t wait to turn it into a graphic. The name will be revealed two weeks from tomorrow, though. 😁
  4. Congratulations, wonderful news! I bet you guys are grinning ear to ear!
  5. Yep, I figured that would be the case. I just wanted to post the question while I was thinking of it, based on a post in Ollie-Haus’ thread. I did send Matt an email on Monday, but maybe he’s away all week. The in-person walkaround will be great! But having never owned a trailer with plumbing, heat, or AC, I’m trying to learn (and retain) as much as I can ahead of time. 😁
  6. @MDuncan You've got mail! Is this your area of expertise? We have 18 days until delivery, and while we've already watched the 2020 delivery video, I'd sure like to see the ins and outs of the new AC/heater, fridge, and solar controller ahead of time. Thanks!!
  7. And here I thought it was jut me. 😉 18 Days. Those of you that corrected me when I said the next 90 days would drag on back when I paid the first half were right! I can't believe how quickly it's gone. Speaking of which, it's time to tag Matt Duncan in the YouTube thread.
  8. This was just a chart that I put together for my own use when I was deciding what modifications to make before my delivery. I'd already decided on the Redarc brake controller base on input over on the iH8MUD forum (I'm Slow Paddler.) And figured if I had questions down the road, this would help knowing who had what. Updated chart attached.
  9. That'll make seven of us now! I'll be eager to see your results towing in the mountains with the 8-speed. Mine's likely lighter, as I have only 3-seats left but no armor and stock tires (for now.) My biggest weight is the National Luna 90 Twin fridge.
  10. Thanks, Rich! Our new Oliver will be our first travel trailer with electric, plumbing, or gas. Maintenance on the square drop is pretty basic! Plus, this will be 12 feet longer than what I have now. We have two nights booked at Camp Oliver and two at David Crockett State Park before leaving the area. Good to know that there is a dump station at Oliver. I had visions of me trying to learn Sunday morning at DCSP with everyone in the campground lined up waiting on me!! 😬
  11. Seriously?!? That'll make a disk brake upgrade a simple option, then. Cool!
  12. On YouTube. I follow the Oliver channel, and both videos popped up as “Premiere”. I added the Elite II one to my watch later list, it then it disappeared. Maybe they just needed re-edited and will be back soon. I’m leaving for several days with no WiFi, so I was hoping to download it beforehand to watch while I was gone.
  13. Today, Oliver posted brand new delivery walkaround videos for the 2023 Elite and Elite II, each about an hour and a half or so. Now they’re gone. Did anyone watch them? We were going to tonight, but no joy. Hopefully they’ll be reposted.
  14. Crazy! We're about 100 miles east-southeast of you, and it is 65° and sunny here on Ohio's North Coast!
  15. Of course! Retired 13 years, and already stopped using my engineering brain... Thanks!
  16. Thank you!
  17. Could someone with an EII handy, please check this measurement? @DebM found a sale on some stick-on backsplash she likes. I'm estimating 44-46" based on the sink, burner, and distance between them shown in the Oliver Dimensions PDF. Thank you!
  18. Thanks! I definitely do not have a 1/2" Allen wrench! On the shopping list that goes. As for spring hooks, yep! Having motor scooters, small engine maintenance, and vehicles with drum brakes, these are always in the kit. Thank you EDIT: Does the 1/2" Allen wrench need to be a typical "L" shape? Or can I use one for a ratchet? I only have those up to3/8", but might be more versatile than the "L" type.
  19. I already carry a pretty comprehensive tool kit in my truck, but it is all metric. Considering that the Oliver has a lot of components from US and international sources, I'm guessing that I'll need to add some imperial sizes, too? One item that I don't own is a set of security Torx drivers (the type with the hole for the tiny pin sticking up inside the screw's opening.) Are there any used on the Oliver? Any other specialty tools that I might need specific to a travel trailer? Thanks!
  20. No, but any generic coupler could be attached. For that matter, I've mostly read of thieves simply looping the safety chains around a tow ball, and be gone!
  21. Thanks Mike and Bill! I knew about flushing with gray after, but I never thought to allow some through first to wet the drain hose. Great tip! Nor had I thought about "stuff" accumulating in the gray tank. We plan to avoid as much food particles and grease going down the drain as possible. Kitchen traps smell worse than bathroom traps! Thanks again for the wise counsel!
  22. We have never used a trailer with plumbing. Through various sources, I understand that we should not leave the black tank drain open at full hook up sites to avoid the dreaded poop mountain. Is the same true for the gray tank? I'm picturing after days of taking navy showers, that we'll be eager to take back to back long hot showers. What is the generally accepted practice for the gray tank? Thanks!
  23. Great idea! Then you can put names to faces. Even better is Bill's suggestion to stay at the lodge. Since we will be new owners at the rally, I've been compiling camp sites with members here and on the Facebook groups. That way I know who to be sure to see, and who to avoid. 😉 It's in the first post in this thread, but I'm sure it will grow as May approaches.
  24. Welcome! We're picking up two weeks after you. Somewhere is a list of needed items that is supplied by Oliver at pickup, but I can't seem to find it right now. I remember that it includes a fresh water hose, sewer hose, 30A cable, and more. I'm pretty sure there was not a separate hose for flushing the black water; I still need to get that for us. Right now, we have most of the stuff out of our squaredrop, and in the house. We still need to separate it into things we *need* to take, and those that are just nice to have.
  25. As an aside, while the cotter pin or locking pin are fine for travelling, don't rely on that locking pin for security. Simply cutting the thin-gauge wire clip will allow the hitch to be opened. Per several posts on this forum, I've purchased "The Collar" hitch for the Bulldog coupling on our in-process Oliver.
