dharmardr
Hi All, We have been busy since the pickup of our Ollie on Dec 16th, what with the travel back to CT and the Holidays. We are now through all that and are getting ready for 4 months on the road. Pickup our Oliver on the 16th as planned and are as happy as can be, if not a little intimidated by all the functions and systems. This is our first trailer/RV of any kind and all the systems are a little overwhelming. I'm sure in time we will have it down and really it's part of the fun figuring it all out. We spent the first night at Fall Hallow and camped next to Dave and Linda Shields in hull #111 with Ruby in the lead and their beautiful Dog (who's name has escaped me). Headed home the next day after a brief visit to the Factory (for a couple of minor tweaks). Spent the first night in Marion VA at Hungry Mountain State Park. We were the only one's there, had some take out BBQ from Wolfe's, in our new home on wheels and retired for the evening. Wolfe's is highly recommended by the way. The next day we decided to head for the Barn, as they say, and got home about 8:00 p.m. The Ollie pulls like no other. We had a flawless, trouble free 700+ mile ride home. Getting ready for our trip South. Greg and Janet Gato
Congratulations. We are so excited for you. We pick ours up on Feb.22. How far south are you going on your trip? Did you leave the very back mirror facing forward in a mirror finish or is it the reflection of the camera? Love the pictures. That is how we ordered ours also with the black finish. enjoy greg and janet

Moderators topgun2 Posted January 2, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 2, 2016 Grayson and Ann, Great look except for that overstuffed dog on the left - need to put her on a diet! Have a good four months on the road. Are you headed for Florida, the west or both? Greg and Janet, We are picking up ours on the 16th of February. Hopefully the weather will be good for both of us. Greg and Janet Gato
I agree. Hopefully weather will be good. We will head back to Florida pretty quick. We are not experts on driving in ice and snow. Are you near Murphy NC ? We have a cabin there. Neighbor sent us a picture on Christmas morning. Pretty much under water with all the rain. janet

dharmardr
We are headed for FL. To Hohenwald first for a couple of minor adjustments and then to the Panhandle. We will be at Wright Lake in Apalachicola National Forest for a few days and then after a couple of stops at Flamingo Campground in Evergaldes for some kayaking. Then back up for a short visit with the Mouse and the more time at Juniper Springs in Ocala National Forest (more kayaking) and the n back to Apalachicola area for a couple of weeks. That should bring us to Mid March where we will star north up the coast, Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina and ten no specific plans. Maybe up un the Blue Ridge Parkway (depending on weather) for some motorcycling and Music. The back cabinet door you see is mirror and that is one of the minor changes we are making in Hohenwald. We want all to be black. As far as the dog goes, yes he does look quite portly, but actually eats very little. It's puzzling?? He minds well and travels with no complaints. It's very exciting to hear from those of you who are picking up in Feb. congratulations. Please post pics etc when you get yours, I can't wait to hear your excitement and your experiences. trumpetguy
Congratulations. Your itinerary sounds interesting. While in the Florida Panhandle you might consider the parks along I-10 for Kayaking on the Suwanee river. Stephen Foster Cultural Center has an easy launch as does Suwanee River State park. Blackwater state park is on the Blackwater river and offers interesting Kayaking right from the park. We spent eleven nights at Mount Pisgah campground last Summer. A great campground on the BRP. Not sure when it opens though. Roads can be bad in Winter. How do you manage kayaks AND motorcycles? I have trouble just loading our bikes and lawn chairs. Enjoy your new Oliver. Moderators topgun2 Posted January 4, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2016 Greyson and Ann, Yes, be careful regarding the Blue Ridge Parkway in March. Presently there are several sections that are closed due to either repairs and/or weather. It is normal for some of these sections that are south/southwest of Mt. Mitchel to be closed in the winter either due to snow or to ice formation in the tunnels. Look up the BRP on the internet - they do a good job of posting what is closed. Another Florida State Park that is good for both camping and kayaking is Blue Spring. And, if you are lucky, the Manatees hang out around this area particularly if the Saint John's river is a bit cool. Commanche
We are also headed to south Florida next month with some time down at Flamingo Campground. We are making stops at Grayton Beach (panhandle area) then to Manatee Springs, over to Faver-Dykes where we will meet up with Topgun2 ,aka Bill, for a few days. On our way back looking to stop at Fort DeSota and touch base with Sherry, aka Seadog, then head north. Trip is way to short, but we still have some animals at home we need to have people care for. Maybe it's time to sell the farm and move south. From there we will head east to stopping along the way. One of the locations we are looking at along the way is Juniper Springs. It does not appear as they have Electric, so it will be solar/batt's for us. HOWEVER, there looks to be a lot of shade, Any advice as to a good site?
