geO
I've heard several people who use propane during towing to keep the refrigerator going and yet others say it is dangerous. My question is if I use the inverter with the solar power can this combo work while towing to keep the refrig running without depleting the batteries? What method do you use while towing your rig? Maverick
We use propane normally during travel. Except when we travel through tunnels or some restricted highways where the propane must be turned off, then we use the 12VDC to power the refrigerator. 1 Horace & Dianne Chesapeake, Virginia 2016 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 4x4 Limited 2015 Oliver Legacy Elite II - Hull #
Mainiac
We have always used the DC setting while towing. We let the tow vehicle supply the power, it's running anyway. What we have found is that DC will not cool down a refrig., but will keep it cold. We cool it with either AC or propane. We cool it,switch to DC, and go. We have seen propane "blow out", and just to be on the safe side, we turn it off. We know it is vented to the outside, but also know propane is heavier than air. So to be safe, off it goes...
Moderators Mike and Carol Posted March 2, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2017 We run the fridge on propane while driving. Switched to DC once before going through a long tunnel. 1 Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L
