HDRider Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I went to Campendium today and it said it will soon be requiring a Roadpass login. So, I went to Roadpass. https://www.campendium.com/ https://roadpass.com/ Does anyone here use Roadpass? I tried to figure out what it was by looking at their website. I did not find that helpful. What is Roadpass? What is the connection between Campendium and Roadpass? Jeff & Cindy - NE Arkansas - 2023 Legacy Elite II - Twin Bed - Hull #1423 TV - 2015 Silverado 2500 Duramax 4x4

To quote Google - "A Roadpass account is a single login (email and password) that you can use across our RV and road travel apps. Think of it like an Apple ID or a Google login. It's one secure account you can use to sign into more than one place - fewer logins to remember!Nov 17, 2023" Bill p.s. The cynic in me also says that it just might be a way to get more money from you and me - particularly for the "pro" or "premium" apps and/or services provided.🤔 2023 Ford F150 Lariat 3.5EB FX4 Max Towing, Max Payload, 2016 Oliver Elite II - Hull #117 "Twist" Near Asheville, NC

jd1923 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 We have used Campendium for years at no cost. Recently, Chris paid for an account for additional benefits. Last thing you need is a pass from some app/website to get into another! Looks like the common scheme to get new accounts by linking prospects to some other service. Like the 100s of reseller websites that sell your going through them to buy insurance!!! Buyer beware and stay away! OMG, this world could do without prostitutes and the marketing profession which is far WORSE! At least with the prostitute, you know what you are buying! 3 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!
AlbertNTerri Posted February 23 Posted February 23 On the subject of finding places to stay, we've been extremely please with HipCamp, it's sort of the Air BnB of camping. You sign up for it, make a profile, then you get to rate the camping locations and they get to rate you. It can vary from an actual campground (rarely) to someone's driveway, or a field. We've stayed at a horse property, a farm that had a section of their pasture set aside for campers, there's a place outside of Hays KS that's 2500 acres on the Saline river with about 30 sites that are all about 500-1,000 feet apart from each other. Hookups vary too, from none to full hookups, prices vary as well, we've paid as little as $15/night up to $50 or more a night. The places are overall very clean and conducive to having a peaceful stay. We had tried boondockers.com, they were OK but we like HipCamp better. albert 1 1 Albert & Terri Sterns Paonia, Colorado Elite II Hull #1125 Standard Floorplan / 2017 Ford F250 gas

I have used Campendium (which I like pretty well) and when they sent notice that they were going to 'change' login requirements for Campendium to require a 'RoadPass account' I went ahead and signed up for a RoadPass account -- but I have never paid for any of it. RoadPass (the developer) has a competing app called RoadTrippers. The RoadTrippers experience made me want to vomit. It's like Travel Planning for people who don't want to think for themselves at all (sorry to be blunt) -- they create your route and tell you where to go and what to see. In fact, it seems to send you to all the most-crowded places (someone here can correct me if I'm wrong about that.) Ummm.... No Thanks. My Campendium app still shows dispersed camping spots, even though articles stated that the app would be disabled in a few weeks (reported in FEB 2024). I do NOT pay for Premium. Other people have told me that they don't see dispersed camping any more on their Campendium app, ever since RoadPass takeover (they use iPad). I use the iPhone Campendium app and am signed in using the RoadPass user account. I have since started using iOverlander. It's not as user friendly, imo. The maps are harder to read. I find iOverlander easier to use on a computer, and I have gained good information from users notes. There seem to be two different versions of iOverlander (on my iphone, one app is dark orange with white logo, the other is white with dark orange logo; I haven't been able to distinguish them.) Again, I do not pay for any of it. Neither of the iOverlander apps show the area where I am currently boondocked. I hope this helps. 2 1 Oliver Elite II Twin (delivered 3/28/2022) Tow Vehicle: Chevy Silverado 2500HD diesel

My impression is that Campendium (highly successful) was too much competition for RoadPass, so they acquired it and plan to kill it off in order to .... What? Acquire user data? Sell user data? I don't believe they provide the same service, so it's hard to say what they are doing. 1 Oliver Elite II Twin (delivered 3/28/2022) Tow Vehicle: Chevy Silverado 2500HD diesel

RoadPass made an announcement back in 2021 about adding Campendium to their .... product line of apps. In that announcement, they stated, "Roadpass Digital is a technology joint-venture between THOR Industries and Tourism Holdings Limited. Roadpass Digital is focused on making it easier to experience, own, and maintain recreational vehicles as well as more easily discover, book, and navigate road trips. Roadpass Digital has offices in Chicago, Cincinnati, and Auckland. Learn more about Roadpass Digital and its Campendium, Roadtrippers, RVillage, and Togo RV products at roadpass.com." If you click the links in their announcement, you will find that "As of March 31, 2023 the RVillage website and mobile apps are no longer available and end user support for those products has ended." Also, for the Togo RV, "No more switching between apps. Togo RV is now integrated into Roadtrippers Premium!" (in other words, you have to buy the premium version to access it.) And RoadTrippers is "based on what we've learned from over 38 million trips" and "AI-base Autopilot".... Here's hoping that the continued use of Campendium apps prevents them from killing it off. 2 Oliver Elite II Twin (delivered 3/28/2022) Tow Vehicle: Chevy Silverado 2500HD diesel
HDRider Posted July 4 Author Posted July 4 (edited) Good info I have fallen into a routine with RV Parky. https://www.rvparky.com/ I signed up for Harvest Hosts but have not yet stayed in one of their campgrounds. When I plan a trip I never find anything using Harvest Host. Maybe some states are better with HH than my surrounding states. I found it exasperating to use in its newest format and I switched to a Allstays Premium membership in the middle of our trip. Allstays and Campendium used to be free to use and I used both. I chose Campendium's paid subscription to begin with and was a happy camper until they completed their app migration. Mossey 2 2 Mike and Krunch Lutz, FL 2017 LEII #193 “the dog house”

We don’t need no stinken computer, no sensors. We don’t need Wall Street types to turn a good App into their food chain. i can still read a map and most often download BLM maps in the Avenza app, make my own trails, in so many places never listed on these apps. Hope they do not mess up Avenza, but when they do we got our paper maps, Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!
