  1. Reading a post in the "Sightings" thread over on the FGRV forum about seeing 7 Oliver's at one time (albeit at the factory which really shouldn't count) gave me an idea. We owners should come up with a collective noun that is indicative of a group of Oliver's. Think: Covey of Quail, Span of Mules, Pod of Whales...you get the picture. I figured this had been addressed at some point in the past so I did a search on FGRV and found a 14 year old thread that playfully addressed group names for different brands of trailers at that time. Of course, that was long before Oliver was hatched and many of those brands have slipped into obscurity. Only Casita, Scamp and Bigfoot are still current. So, lets put our thinking caps on and come up with a really cool moniker for a group of these unique trailers. For our purpose here anything more than one qualifies as a group. When we come up with a list, we can vote on which one we feel is best. For those of you who are interested in seeing names for the different groups of animals here is more than you probably ever wanted to know.

  2. Unless it looks like rain or the weather is cold, we always travel with the windows open about 4 inches and the MaxxFan cover raised to create a cross ventilation. Never had any trouble unless we ran thru some rain and I either forgot and left them open or had to get out in the pouring rain to close them! I don't own a manual so I can't comment on why they would state "that the trailer windows should be closed when the trailer is moving." Ignorance is apparently bliss.

  4. Bill, We really like the COE parks. Clair has to go over to Nashville for VA matters now & then so we try To stay at Seven Points COE near Hermitage, TN. It's on the J. Percy Priest Reservoir and very quiet. It's not far from the Nashville airport. [attachment file=72127] We headed to the Cumberland State Park after leaving Fall Creek Falls. Just 30 miles from our home but we weren't ready to head home and decided we needed to stay long enough to enjoy some of the restaurant's dry rubbed ribs on Saturday night.

  5. Kathy, We like camping at Fall Creek Falls SP, too!! Nice place to hike with beautiful water falls! We want to check out some of the Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds in TN, since we just received our America the Beautiful cards! :)

  6. I would absolutely hate to have to chain up the trailer to get out of a camping spot. Why not stay an extra day or two. Or chaining up to get into a spot, why not wait a bit? Or come back for the trailer in a few days? But I suppose you could get into a situation trying to get over the Siskiyous to get home. In that case ride quality would be secondary to maximum traction and that means large chain links. It also means chains running diagonal or diamond or whatever to help with sideways slipping. But, there's not a lot of clearance, so I don't know how much you can get away with. The whole idea sucks. I believe, in CA, if you chain up the truck you must chain the trailer too. I travel the mountains a lot in winter, without trailers, and I never chain up because I have 4WD and always use aggressive tires to avoid the problem. When my father was still working, he would drive a few miles every morning, before dawn, on his way to work. Then stop, remove the rear, chained up snow tires, and install a set of standard tires. Then on the way home, he'd reverse the procedure and get home on the snow tires with chains. The driveway was too steep to drive up, so he'd park at the bottom and walk/slide down every morning in the dark. He did this very day, to and from work in the winter. Yikes. One morning he was on his way down and slipped. He accidentally threw his keys up into the air while trying to recover. But they didn't come down. After looking for about an hour with a flashlight he got my Mom's set and went on. They later found them stuck in a tree. ????

  7. Clair says Hi Phillip! We are looking forward to seeing you again! We stayed at the Lake Guntersville SP site that we have reserved for the 2018 rally. It's very open down by the lake (due to the tornado that went thru there) but the sites are all well kept & the restrooms clean as can be. We had lunch at the Lodge restaurant and found the food was great. All that being said...We have extemded our stay at Fall Creek Falls SP...It is a gorgeous park! I would highly recommend this one! Smiles...Kathy
