Hi all... Checking in to see if anybody uses packing cubes to help organize their Ollie. If so, do you like them? As an experiment I purchased 1 medium-sized packing cube from Amazon.com to see how much it could easily hold. The cube I got, fully packed, measures 14"x 9.5" with a 4" depth. Most medium cubes I found on Amazon were 3" deep so clothing amount could vary. I packed firmly but not so tight to have a wrinkled mess and found the cube held the following: 4 - Men's x-large T-shirts (I tried rolling them but found folding allowed me 1 more shirt) 3 - lightweight socks 1 - heavyweight sock 4 - boxer underwear 1 - nylon sport short Hopefully the pack will fit nicely into an upper cabinet. I would imagine it's all about longevity, under cover or in the sun? With cut sheet vinyl fading shouldn't be quite the same issue as printed on vinyl. There's a reason for the price difference...1 point

Ours is printed on a single piece of vinyl, locally. Oliver couldn’t print mine due to size nor would they install the one I brought. I had a local shop do it and they charged $50 for two big and a dozen small graphics. I did the installation myself. I don’t know if I’ll ever need the extra big one for the front of our trailer, but I have it! Mike1 point

I am as happy as a pig in mud that this thing has been finally unveiled. I’ve been, and will continue, to try to balance a future Ollie, an off road truck, and fly fishing in hard to reach places. Being the “Jeep Guy” that I am, Overland is right about the aftermarket Jeep “stuff.” It’s crazy and Jeep knows it. My pipe dream is for the Gladiator to be able to handle an Elite II. We’ll see!1 point

I thought that I'd put a new tire pressure monitoring system on my wish list. But, I then thought that I probably will not be using Twist until April and why buy now what I can't use for several months. So, maps and fishing guide books for Montana went on the list instead. That way I can use the early winter months to get my main 2019 trip planned and reservations (where necessary) made. Bill p.s. A happy and enjoyable holiday season to all. Please be safe out there!1 point

Another way to kind of do what you want is to do a vinyl wrap. At least one owner has had that done and while I didn't personally care for the theme they picked, the overall result was very nice. And, a wrap could be changed or modified and be easier than a paint job. Bill1 point

I think that is coming sooner than later. The new Lincoln Aviator: Under the hood, there's just one engine offered: a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 making 400 horsepower with 400 foot-pounds of torque. But there's another drivetrain available: A sporty Grand Touring model will have 450 horsepower and 600 foot-pounds of torque. It uses the same V6 but couples it with a plug-in hybrid system. https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/12/02/why-the-all-new-2019-lincoln-aviator-is-a-big-deal.aspx That sort of electric boost would do wonders when accelerating, and I don’t see why it won’t be offered in light duty pickups. I am not sure how long the boost would work climbing up toward the Eisenhower Tunnel, but it could help for short steep clmbs. You would need enough reserve torque to use in case you ran the battery pack too low. The Aviator does not have the ability to recharge the pack on the move, there definitely needs to be a small APU (auxiliary power unit) that could run on long trips to recharge. A small constant rpm rotary or similar mini-engine would work, they can make them very small and stick one under a seat. There is talk about using one of these opposed piston engines as an onboard generator: John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Carol and I volunteered to help Coy and Mary Kay during next years rally by serving as program leaders for the “Best Practices” session (or Camping for Dummies 101). The idea is to gather up all the good ideas out there that folks have come up with to make their Oliver (or even other brands) more comfortable, efficient and useful. This is not a technical session (how to convert to disk brakes, solar installation, etc.) but more about simple things that we can share to enhance our camping experience. Sort of “why didn’t I think of that” things. Specifically, we’d like to talk about storage ideas, loading ideas, small modifications for things like keeping drawers shut, bathroom door open, hooks, towel rods, etc. We can also discuss favorite apps used for finding campgrounds, dump stations, trail maps, etc. Another potential topic is overnighting at Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Pilots, Rest Areas, etc. Also, what accessories you have that could be recommended (chairs, grills, screen rooms, tables, etc.). I am going through the forum looking for good past input from owners. I’m also soliciting any good ideas you may have that could be shared during this session. We’re going to PowerPoint the presentation and make it available to everyone. After almost three years, a bunch of miles and nights we are still discovering “why didn’t I think of that” items from fellow owners. If you have anything we could include in our session please email me at mike7t6 at me dot com. Thanks. Mike and Carol1 point

I camp with five of these cubes. Three large, one medium, one small. Tshirts in one, shorts in one, underwear, socks, medicine, etc. When I need something, I don't have to rummage through different items to find what I need. All the cubes will fit in an overhead compartment.1 point
