  1. First of all, credit to the Oliver owner that shared the installation of these on his screen door, great idea and product recommendation! I finally got around to adding a push bar to our screen door for ease in exiting and closing, and also resolved an ingress problem, as well. Although both installations offer support, my decision to mount one on the closet door as a grab handle when entering to help pull one’s self up and in, proved especially beneficial! Also, each can be used as a towel or clothing rack. Respective modifications were made for custom fitment, here’s a look at the final outcome:

  2. Project/saga Update, Dexter Axle Company has agreed to provide me with two new replacement 13-144 equalizers at no cost to me. Shipment delivery expected next. Now for installation. Zerk correct tightness will be confirmed. End of story...I hope.

  3. I'd be looking into the possible reasons for this "getting stuck" issue. The way these things work is not all that complicated and most likely something is not aligned properly or it needs a touch of lube or there is something getting "caught" in there, or something is bent, etc. Bill

  4. As with anything else, I'm sure that there are some zerks that are better made (materials, craftsmanship, etc.) than others. However, given the relatively simple design and purpose of these things, I've never given the cost of a zerk or where or how its made much thought. Heck, you can buy as many of these little things as you most likely could ever use for much less than $50. Having said this - I would strongly suggest that for any new zerks and/or even old zerks, the usage of protective caps over the zerks helps keep them cleaner and less likely to get "plugged" by keep most dirt out of that little spring loaded ball that is in the end of the zerk. 5. It's just hard to imagine how this happened. The grease fittings on the equalizers I removed were in there solid. The one fitting I removed (so that I could measure threads for you) had threads 5/16" in length. I had to turn it 4-5 revolutions to remove it. I replaced the originals (one is pictured on page 1 of this thread) because the center bushings were very worn after 7 years of use (with weak springs and lose wet-bolts). No reason for grease fittings to wear and inside the suspension hanger they are quite protected from damage. Who knows why? But it is what it is. I purchased two of these: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Suspension-Parts/Dexter/013-144-03.html

  7. For us, the advantage of double pane isn't temperature control, it's noise reduction. They really do help when the guy with the huge Bluetooth speaker sets up next to you. But the bigger problem for me is that those Lippert windows really don't move much air. We never really felt a breeze in our old trailer. That said, they're better in the rain. For functionality, I'd like to have just one swing out window for use on rainy days. I know some of the other fiberglass trailers do that with the rear window.

  8. max of 3 inches? Ouch, that does not seem like a lot of airflow.
