  1. I decided to cancel the 3' cord. Amazon does not carry anything smaller than a 3'. Appears we would only need something to go from TV to switcher and if you attached the switcher to the back of your tv a 4"-6" cable would be plenty. Is there such a thing as radio shack anymore?
  2. Thanks. I ordered your switcher link plus a three foot HDMI cord. Appreciate the heads up.
  3. Sorry. I just answered my own question by visiting Oliver University. Yes, the TV is HD and yes there is a HDMI port. My amazon fire stick should work fine. http://olivertraveltrailers.com/oliver-university/components/
  4. This may be a dumb question, but does the standard TV that comes in the 2018 models have an hdmi port so I can plug my amazon fire stick into it and stream netflix or any number of available apps? Seems it would as this is 2018 and not 1960. Picking up our new Ollie March 6 and trying to prepare.
  5. We are taking delivery of our new Ollie 18.5 on March 6. There are several members on the forum who also have the Legacy Elite and have been very helpful throughout our decision-making process. The vehicle we chose for the job is a Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 which should handle the Ollie with ease. I know @Skalywag also uses the same vehicle to pull his 18.5 but you should get a wide range of options just by asking. Good luck.
  6. I too ordered the Bussman fuses from the link I provided from Amazon and I too only received one in the package. Amazon promptly refunded my money. This time I ordered from a different supplier on Amazon for half the price and it states there are five in the package. So we'll see. But Amazon is very good to me.
  7. @Maverick, Thank you. Ordered. Now I have a complete set of every kind of fuse imaginable for any situation. I hope. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the help I get on this forum. Perhaps one day I will be able to add something useful besides questions.
  8. @Corcomi, Sorry you had this trouble but bringing it to the attention of this forum is so beneficial to others like myself. Glad you got it fixed. We pick up our new Hull #309 on March 6. So much to learn before then.
  9. Is the slow-blow 30 amp MDL fuse a particular length? I like buying from amazon. Would this work? https://smile.amazon.com/Bussmann-MDL30-Time-Delay-Glass-Fuse/dp/B00139MFXM/ref=pd_cp_263_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00139MFXM&pd_rd_r=941YEBKBVDQW08XNT36X&pd_rd_w=zg0Jw&pd_rd_wg=eElSR&psc=1&refRID=941YEBKBVDQW08XNT36X
  10. I wish an Oliver representative would be active on this forum addressing concerns and problems of current and potential owners. It would certainly put to rest the mounting fears some of us have, or will have, going forward. In light of this Christmas wish, it is hoped that all forum members would be respectful to any Oliver rep willing to enter this, at times, rather hostile coliseum. Getting answers to questions and offering useful information and guidance would no doubt be very much appreciated.
  11. I did call Jason Essary this morning, as Bill suggested I do, in order to inquire about the new now-standard exterior solar ports. Yes, they not only fit the mobile Zamp solar suitcase options but Jason added that other solar manufacturers also provide an adapter as well that will plug into this same Zamp port. Jason said the original Blue Sky system is superior when wanting a more powerful unit and the options for controlling it and fine-tuning, but they found it is complicated for some people. The Zamp system is automatic and is designed for trouble-free operation. Turn on the switch and everything is already set for you. No adjusting. Also, with the Blue Sky system, other perhaps not-so-handy operators adjusting things created a bit of a problem for themselves and Oliver with burned-out batteries and other inconveniences. Jason's explanation made sense and I feel better now for staying with the Oliver Zamp recommendation. Once I start modifying Oliver systems certain warranties will no longer exist. In addition, I have no desire to fool around with my trailer tweaking things and being an amateur engineer. I want to travel with ease and comfort, see the sights, relax, and enjoy our little home on wheels. The more the Oliver people can do for me in providing an easy accommodating switch and equipment that makes my life more comfortable I am willing to pay a higher price.
  12. The sample swath I have feels and looks more like leather than vinyl. But we will have to wait until March to see if our skin sticks. But I doubt it will.
  13. @Mmoren I would think that if you have a production start date then you already have a hull number as well as a VIN. Just ask Anita or Heather for it. They are not on your PO or your quote. And yes, the last three digits on VIN is hull number. You are doing due diligence and therefore minimizing your mistakes, we hope. We are in the same boat. In addition to other good folks here talk to Skalywag and Dave Phelps (they have the same size trailer) to get even more good ideas and problems solved.
  14. @canoe12 I not only got my hull number (309) but I have a Vin number which afforded me an insurance quote. I believe once we were slated for a production date we got a hull number and vin. Helps to have paid the down payment too, I guess. Our Ollie is supposed to be ready for pick up March 6. Maybe the sales team has evolved since you purchased your rig?
  15. We have an English Golden Retriever. Our last two automobiles have had leather upholstery which has proven the easiest to keep clean and is more durable (we do cover the back seat with a dog protector). We opted for the Oliver leather vinyl for the same reason. The pseudo leather seems to be very similar to the real deal and feels soft to the touch. I am not expecting it to sweat but instead perform same as the seats do in the truck. Of course, my wife was very disappointed that she could not choose her own fabric for the Ollie. When we first went to visit the factory last May of 2017 we were told we could provide our own fabric. It was when we decided to take the plunge and order a hull in September of 2017 that Anita told us we could no longer have the option of using our own fabric. There is a video on YouTube that has an Oliver owner complaining about their hand-picked fabric and the quality of the final product. I believe previous complaints were instrumental in Oliver's decision to no longer let us have our way. It is possible that the upholsterer has changed his mind by now, but the good ones we know back in Louisville, Kentucky are a bit eccentric and operate similar to Seinfeld's The Soup Nazi. If we do hear that Oliver is again allowing the buyer to provide their own fabric my wife will not be a happy camper. And as you know, Happy wife, happy life. :)
  16. Dave, Great post. Thanks. One update I wanted to add to your great ideas regards the choice of upholstery fabric. Due to some problems with previous buyers the option to provide your own fabric no longer exists. The person Oliver uses now refuses to provide this service due to a bad experience with one (or more?) new owner who provided their own fabric and ended up not happy. Therefore, the choices my wife and I had for our new Elite were restricted only to what Oliver offered. We, though a bit disappointed, ended up going with the brown leather vinyl.

  18. If all I was relying on for my power was a portable solar suitcase I would definitely worry about theft. For now, I have decided even to forego a generator for the same reason. If it turns out my inferior factory-installed Zamp Solar package does not do the trick I will eventually purchase a Honda 2000 generator, buy more security cable and another lock, which all will add more weight to my rig. Reed: Good to know the batteries get fully recharged via the truck while traveling. I did not know that. Makes sense.
  19. Bill- Thank you. I think I am sticking with my ordered solar package for the main reason that while I am traveling from one destination to another and having to boondock in a Walmart or rest stop I do not want to have to get a solar suitcase out to charge my batteries. The only times I think I may need a portable solar suitcase is when I am in a lot of shade for days, but I can always buy a little Zamp suitcase and plug it into my (now-standard) solar ports. Correct?
  20. Interesting. I would like to see those pics and learn more about this. My trailer goes into production December 21. What are the new Oliver (now-standard) solar ports for? One of my complaints with the sales force of Oliver is the lack and reluctance to provide adequate info for us to make good decisions. It is learn as we go. We are all faced with doing as much research on our own as possible as well as talking to as many Oliver owners we can. I get it that the sales force is in the business of selling trailers and options, but it would be helpful if they provided more information.
  21. With Oliver's new and now standard "plug and play" port for solar I wanted to just use a Renogy Solar Suitcase for more flexibility but was told the port would not work without our trailer equipped with Oliver's solar package (plus it says so on the upgrade page). In other words, none of controls or wiring inside the trailer would even exist without Oliver installing them when they built my hull. Some of us are not gifted in every area of expertise needed to maintain or modify a trailer. Some of us do know how to do many things, but not all. I opted to have Oliver install what we needed beforehand so I would have more flexibility down the road and not have to drill more holes in my hull, and on. I can always get the solar suitcase if this roof-mount gizmo fails to do the job for us. But as others have advised, the Zamp works fine and I should be pleased with its performance. We shall see.
  22. We limited the adds to what we really needed to go off-road and boondocking. The added-cost options are never cheap but we selected: Brown Leather Grain Vinyl Upholstery Standard Dometic Penguin II w/ Micro-Air Easy Start A/C System 2 Lifeline GPL-4CT AGM Batteries (needed for solar package) Fiber Granite countertops, accents, and tables Composting toilet Solar package Xantrex 2000W Inverter Package 30 AMP Convenience Connection Aluminum Storage Basket
  23. My wife and I recently ordered a Legacy Elite. Many decisions had to be made during the process, but we read everything we could on this forum and the other FG forum "out there", made some decisions and then changed our minds some, but have now finally settled on the package we want for us. Two members here on this forum were especially helpful as they both own the Legacy Elite model too. Our Ollie will be ready to pick up this coming March 6. Read every pertinent topic here, do searches by relevant terms, and I believe you will have all your questions answered. Good luck.
  24. Hate to beat a dead horse, but are you saying that sitting level your Ollie measures 22" up from level ground to the inside top of the bull hitch?
  25. To be safe I am ordering from Amazon a CURT 45270 Class 3 Extender Ball Mount (3/4" rise and rated at 7500 lbs) for the trailer so the bulldog hitch will clear the bike rack above it. I am guessing I will be able to "fine tune" my rig at Oliver when I go to pick up the trailer. Yesterday I purchased at Ace Hardware seven stainless steel one-inch x two inch washers to also get the ball closer to perfection. :)
