  1. Here's my 2 cents... I just replaced all shocks with the Monroe 555001s. I did so as a first step in trying to figure out the cause of sudden scalloping of both fronts tires. One of the tires was severe enough to warrant exchange with our new spare. As per Scuba Rx, one of the Monroe cushions indeed needed to be compressed to get 1 of the shocks to fit. I'm happy with ease of installation and time will tell if the shocks were the cause. Tires were removed to facilitate installation. Hull 996, picked up new in Jan 2022 and now with over 41,000 miles, has had its share of highway hard knocks, most of which surprisingly occurred on very infrequent use of interstates. The included photos show one of the shock "stems" bent and both front shock shafts were indeed sheared. The other 2 rear shocks were intact, though badly worn. Since both front shock shafts were sheared and only the front tires showed unusual wear I suppose they were the cause. The 2nd picture shows the shaft was stuck in and I pulled it out with pliers. 2. Forgot to add the picture

  4. For sure, Melissa is top notch! We love staying with her :)
  5. Guess I'm doing something wrong here....usually I want to put the filter first but would like to know if I need to do it differently.
  6. Hi Claudia, So glad you solved the problem. Wendy and I met you at the rally in 2022 and you showed us the work you were doing on the window vents. I'm wondering if you patented that work and are producing it. I saw the cover in your Oliver picture. Best of luck on your travels, Wendy & John
  7. Mike...thanks! We just left Steve on Monday from the Maine rally. With Mossemi and Steve next door, and help from Kevin on my Xantrex, I came away with an unbelievable amount of info concerning all things Oliver :) Was the cable difficult to push back through to the valve?
  8. Mike, Do you just loosen the set screw and slowly pull the cable out through it's sheathing using the handle at the rear panel? Then clean/lube and reinsert? What lube did you use? Mine is pretty tough to operate. Thanks much, John
  9. Congratulations ya'll !!!!!!!!!! 40 for us this month John

  16. Ask Melissa to show you her dogs, they are a treat :) We stay there when we get OTT service. John PS The LED fan is installed... :) Thanks!
  17. Follow up... the propane sensor went off this AM and turns out the gas line connection came a little loose when I reinstalled the top. Turned off the propane bottle and headed to Ace hardware. I initially used tape that qualified, according to the label, as suitable for gas line connections. It was gray in color. I didn't have the yellow that I have always used before. Took back apart this afternoon and replaced with the proper yellow tape. All is well for now...according to my sniffer. John
  18. We found 2 in our top drawer :) They push through the hole too easily. John
  19. Thank you I admit being a little "slower" than the average Ollie person and after reading your post I checked my overheads ... EUREKA...I would never have thought to look there for a replacement. Mine are not threaded but they are a direct match and we now have a "new" hatch for our dog house. The 3 little tabs on the original broke off and I was lucky to have it not blow off while traveling. I used some of my high dollar glue I got at Quartzsite this year to fashion some tabs to keep the hatch in place in the overhead. John
  20. Thanks for the walkthrough. Both screws from underside one burner came out...very fortunate Wendy found them both and we were able to use your help to fix everything. I did have to disconnect the gas line and after using gas thread tape and follow up with a "sniffer" all turned out well. We did use blue locktite on the screws. No evidence of previous locktite application Thanks, John
