  1. I would love a big coffee mug like this, handle big enough for several fingers... With the Oliver logo on it... And that black Columbia fleece, canoe12... ???????? Sherry
  2. Welcome to the forum, Steph and Steve. Lots of good folks here to help with any questions you may have. I was lucky enough to spend just a few days in Oregon last year. We look forward to another trip, and more time someday exploring your beautiful state. Sherry
  3. I will always will miss Robert. A wonderful guy, and a great friend. Our heart, and our prayers, go out to his wife and sons. I don't even know how to say how I feel. I know this is a devastating time for your family. May God wrap you in his arms, and keep you.you know where we are, if and when we can help. All our love, and sympathies, Sherry and Paul
  4. That looks great!
  5. Are you staying end of October? Or did you stay there in September. Looks like a great spot. Airbnb reviews are good, but all the photos are really fuzzy... Thanks. Sherry
  6. More hazy here tonight, but lovely.
  7. If you missed last night's harvest moon, take heart. It's quite beautiful tonight, as well. http://www.space.com/38381-space-station-crosses-moon-face-photo.html
  8. Meriweather Lewis is also our favorite cg near hohenwald. The price is great ( free), but most of the time, we're the only or one of few in the cg. Admittedly, we are usually in the area in early spring or late fall... The sites are decent sized, the cg is lovely, especially in fall when the leaves are changing. Who needs hookups? Not Ollie owners. After that, I'm partial to fall hollow. Close to town, and the trail, and Neal and Shari are so very nice. And, Neal is an awesome cook. I rarely eat breakfast, but his breakfast is just so good. We've only spent one rainy night at 1000 trails, so not fair to comment. I'm not much for RV parks. Too many nice state park cg in an hour's drive. Sherry
  9. Totally agree. I still love to have a paper map/ chart, and don't leave home/dock without them. Electronics always seem to malfunction at the worst possible time. As long as you keep the paper dry, a map/ chart works. And, it's not too old for changed conditions, new highways, etc.... Sherry
  10. I thought the same thing about the stainless, actually. I'm going with black. I can change it out later, if we get the urge... to a fake stainless panel, but I'm about over that stainless appliance look anyway. The fingerprints make me crazy on some of our home stainless appliances. I'm only finding the DC only unit in right hand swing, but I don't think that's a big deal. It might actually make loading the fridge easier than the existing left swing door, when bringing in groceries. The left swing blocks the entance to the door. Since we prep and cook mostly outside, the right swing works for me. I'd honestly rather have drawers, and get up off the floor, but I just can't justify the additional price. Maybe on the boat. The classic, in black, DC only, isn't THAT much different in price than another dometic, gives me 15% more cooler space (though a dinky pocket sized freezer), and I can run it on silent, renewable solar instead of gas. I think it's a good compromise for us. Boaters love the Danfoss/Secor compressor, and I loved the ones we've used in foreign rentals... No worries about leveling, very durable and reliable. On the fence on the asu. I'm thinking the ~$125 smart controller may gain me as much in efficiency. On our boat, asu makes a lot of sense, though. Did you install one? Or do you think it's puffery? Usingthe classic in the trailer is a bit of a test on what we do next for boat refrigerator... Which has always been engine driven cold plate. Way oversized, and wasteful except on long cruises. Sherry
  11. At the moment, the Isotherm classic 130, dc only, is on sale with two major marine suppliers. I like the DC only as a, it's less money, b, we live on 12 volt, and, c, retrofitted smart controller is easier on the DC only model. Leaning towards the Isotherm. Love the reviews on the novakool, though. Sherry
  12. Happy to report, I'm home, have WiFi, And, I have my sidebar back. Thanks
  13. Google maps has a download feature that is helpful, but doesn't give voice instructions. I used it extensively in Iceland and the Faroes this year. Maps.me is free, and really quite good for offline use. At least in Australia... I used it in Canada, and the Faroes, too. It tracks your location with gps, whether you have cell signal or not. Sherry
  14. Our older Ollies don't have vinyl under the small dinette table, just fiberglass. I cut a hole in a little cotton rug to keep the floor a little cleaner and nicer... So, for pickup, I'd look at bringing a long carpet runner (something you have already, washed, older, nonemitting would be great), and a few small throw rugs. Our contractor used ramboard in our home when under construction. It's no voc, but I think it would be slippery underfoot. Marmoleum or cork tile would be lovely in your Ollie. I have cork floors throughout my home, and love them. Cork is warm and a little cushy underfoot, but true linoleum is also warmer, a little cushy, and incredibly durable. The forbo no voc adhesive could be a diy issue because of cost, and adhesion to the fiberglass floor.. I have only found it in 4 gallon pails.. click loc planks with cork back may be too thick. I think the tiles in our older elite are only 2.5 mm thick... Since many of us keep the entire floor covered with runners and rugs anyway, that could be your best option til you get it sorted out. Best of luck in your choice. Sherry
  15. Our trailer has been stored outside, without a cover, in Florida sun, for almost ten years. It spends six months a year on the road, or in North Carolina... No cover. The Marine gelcoat cleans up well. We wax it twice a year with 3m Marine wax, as we do for our boats. I think it helps with uv protection. Sherry
  16. Looks great. Love your choices. Wishing you many miles of smiles, and awesome camping memories. Sherry
  17. I guess what I'm saying is that you can often live on less than you think . Ten years, 200 watts of solar. More than we need, in a trailer. But, We live skimpy Truly.
  18. Iow, Don't expect an answer here for your personal issue. Imo. Take that to the factory. In the history of our forum we've literally asked the factory people to bug out. I don't think it's fair to ask factory people to not have a voice, but be available for responding. ??? Sherry My opinion.
  19. So, I may be responding from a different place, but in the good old days, the forum was paid for by Oliver, but rarely visited by anyone at Oliver We looked at this place as our "sandbox". I appreciate it when an Ollie rep chimes in. I don't, however, expect it. Sherry
  20. ? What you think you need is often far less than what you really need. We live primarily on solar. Sherry
  21. Way at the bottom on my Android turbo . So far at the bottom that I would never look that far. Honestly. Sherry
  22. We don't have the Maxx fan, but have the Maxx vent cover. I never think about closing it, so it's open when at camp, or driving, at least a little. Always close the bathroom vent. And windows. I have no idea if this is right or wrong. It's just what we habitually do.
  23. All RV toilets are basically super low flow.a typical"flush" is ounces, not gallons For solids, try criss crossing a little toilet paper in the bowl. A few sheets each way. You can not ever expect a power flush from an RV toilet. Ain't happening. Too much water consumption. Small tanks require small consumption.
  24. Hardrock, my turn to apologise. I haven't been on the forum for a few days. We had pv panels retrofitted six months after we bought our Ollie. Paul had an idea that we could add two panels if we side mounted, talked it over with the Oliver staff, and since September 5, 2008, we've relied on solar for our power needs. Here's a link to an older discussion on our setup. Near the end, you'll see photos of our setup. Also, in one of my posts in this thread, there's a link to Andrew's blog, where he used our premise and created a similar setup on his own. With today's super insulated Oliver trailers, I'd encourage anyone even thinking about a solar future to ask Oliver to prewire. It wasn't easy on ours, and not even sure if possible with the new insulation, to do a retrofit. Our solar
  25. We've all been there. That beautiful blue sky turns chunky and grey, or worse. For a mild rainstorm, we crank the awning in to a valance, or all the way in. I don't enjoy tv, so I grab a book and an LED lamp. Paul may watch a movie, or grab a nap. Seems like every time we have tent campers at our NC property, we get some rainstorms. Lots of fun to crowd 8 or 9 people under a sliver of the Ollie awning. Lol. What's your foul weather plan? If it's a long range rain forecast, we just hook up and go. The trailer has wheels for many reasons. Sherry
