Our older Ollies don't have vinyl under the small dinette table, just fiberglass. I cut a hole in a little cotton rug to keep the floor a little cleaner and nicer... So, for pickup, I'd look at bringing a long carpet runner (something you have already, washed, older, nonemitting would be great), and a few small throw rugs. Our contractor used ramboard in our home when under construction. It's no voc, but I think it would be slippery underfoot. Marmoleum or cork tile would be lovely in your Ollie. I have cork floors throughout my home, and love them. Cork is warm and a little cushy underfoot, but true linoleum is also warmer, a little cushy, and incredibly durable. The forbo no voc adhesive could be a diy issue because of cost, and adhesion to the fiberglass floor.. I have only found it in 4 gallon pails.. click loc planks with cork back may be too thick. I think the tiles in our older elite are only 2.5 mm thick... Since many of us keep the entire floor covered with runners and rugs anyway, that could be your best option til you get it sorted out. Best of luck in your choice. Sherry

Our trailer has been stored outside, without a cover, in Florida sun, for almost ten years. It spends six months a year on the road, or in North Carolina... No cover. The Marine gelcoat cleans up well. We wax it twice a year with 3m Marine wax, as we do for our boats. I think it helps with uv protection. Sherry

Looks great. Love your choices. Wishing you many miles of smiles, and awesome camping memories. Sherry

Solar Capacity - What is offered & needed
SeaDawg replied to wdw0528's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I guess what I'm saying is that you can often live on less than you think . Ten years, 200 watts of solar. More than we need, in a trailer. But, We live skimpy Truly. -

? What you think you need is often far less than what you really need. We live primarily on solar. Sherry -

Way at the bottom on my Android turbo . So far at the bottom that I would never look that far. Honestly. Sherry -
We don't have the Maxx fan, but have the Maxx vent cover. I never think about closing it, so it's open when at camp, or driving, at least a little. Always close the bathroom vent. And windows. I have no idea if this is right or wrong. It's just what we habitually do.

All RV toilets are basically super low flow.a typical"flush" is ounces, not gallons For solids, try criss crossing a little toilet paper in the bowl. A few sheets each way. You can not ever expect a power flush from an RV toilet. Ain't happening. Too much water consumption. Small tanks require small consumption.

Hardrock, my turn to apologise. I haven't been on the forum for a few days. We had pv panels retrofitted six months after we bought our Ollie. Paul had an idea that we could add two panels if we side mounted, talked it over with the Oliver staff, and since September 5, 2008, we've relied on solar for our power needs. Here's a link to an older discussion on our setup. Near the end, you'll see photos of our setup. Also, in one of my posts in this thread, there's a link to Andrew's blog, where he used our premise and created a similar setup on his own. With today's super insulated Oliver trailers, I'd encourage anyone even thinking about a solar future to ask Oliver to prewire. It wasn't easy on ours, and not even sure if possible with the new insulation, to do a retrofit. Our solar

We've all been there. That beautiful blue sky turns chunky and grey, or worse. For a mild rainstorm, we crank the awning in to a valance, or all the way in. I don't enjoy tv, so I grab a book and an LED lamp. Paul may watch a movie, or grab a nap. Seems like every time we have tent campers at our NC property, we get some rainstorms. Lots of fun to crowd 8 or 9 people under a sliver of the Ollie awning. Lol. What's your foul weather plan? If it's a long range rain forecast, we just hook up and go. The trailer has wheels for many reasons. Sherry

Crappy weather days are the worst. If we think they're going to persist, we'll just hook up and go. We both hate being cooped up inside. But, then, we hate it at home, too. Don't want to hijack this inventive thread. I will start a new one. Sherry

Thanks, Dave. I guess we'll throw a few more tools, and parts, in the spares. Glad the second store in forks had what you needed. What a great little town. I really enjoyed it last year. Awesome laundromat, too. Sherry

ROFL. Love the idea. Opted out of the hot tub model... Seriously, if you are camping solo, the lounger indoors is an awesome idea, John.

Legacy Elite II Dometic RM2454 refer

Well, I may have gumped myself in an earlier post saying we'd replace our dometic 3way with a 12 v compress fridge when the dometic dies... I think the cooling unit is dead. Only months after replacing the eyebrow board... So, if the tech reaches the same conclusion, I think we'll move on to 12v Marine refrigeration. Randy, I love the way your Novakool looks. Has it worked well for you? Our friend who has worked his whole life in the yacht building industry is keen on Isotherm and vitrifrigo. No negative comments on Novakool, just no experience with them. I'd love to install drawers, one fridge, one freezer, but it doubles the replacement cost, and then some. Looks like the Isotherm c130 would also be a pretty good fit in the Oliver. They also offer a Smart Energy Controller as an attachment, with s cabinet space for it in the classic series.Controller I'm torn. Guess I will take some time to make a decision. Camping season is almost over for us, anyway. Back to living out of a cooler for awhile... And, yes, I know I can have the cooling unit replaced if it is indeed the culprit. But, when that cost gets me a third or halfway to the 12 v Danfoss compressor fridge I'd rather have, it's a good time to make that decision. Sherry -
Great advice. With one phone and tablet on T-Mobile, one phone and tablet on Verizon, we've found we have signal pretty much anywhere there is signal. In many spots in the wilds of canda and Alaska, it simply doesn't exist. If you must always be connected, get a satellite phone with a contract that allows interruptions. We don't have a cell phone booster. We have felt that a few nights at a time without signal is a good thing, not a negative... Sherry

Hardrock, How do you upgrade to a queen mattress? I'm curious. I think our 2008 is just a little wider than a full. I've always used Queen sheets, because it's easier with the length. Not that there's a big difference in width. A full is around 54 inches, standard, and a queen is 60. The length is the big difference in standard mattresses. The nomenclature, and sizing, is all over the place in the RV world. In one class c that we delivered, my feet reached the bottom of the RV queen.. and I'm only 5' 4" I don't know anyone with an original elite who uses an Anderson hitch. I'd certainly agree with you there. We're closing in on ten years, and 100,000 miles on our 2008. We have 2 100 watt panels, added nine years ago, with two agm batteries, and almost never camp with hookups. But, we don't require power after dark for much. Sherry

We're Placing Our Order this Week! A Few Questions ...
SeaDawg replied to Alison's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations on taking your time to make a good decision for what is right for you. We did a ton of research and looking, too, before we decided on the Oliver almost ten years ago. cant help on axle decisions, but I can speak from experience on agm vs flooded batteries. My vote, and experience, is also for agm batteries. Not just because you don't have to add water. Bulk charging is faster. Discharge more slowly in storage. Don't freeze as easily. Don't leak. The liquid is in the mat. Gases are exchanged within the battery, so, technically, some say they don't even have to be vented. Kind of nice to think that, anyway, since we sleep with our heads above the battery box...Without the gas exchange, I've read there is less opportunity for corrosion at the connectors. You don't have to, and should not, from what i understand, equalize agm batteries. We never ran equalizing on ours, and I think our first set of agms lasted six or seven years. We run almost exclusively on solar. There's not much of a price difference now, as there was years ago. We'll never go back to flooded batteries. Sherry -
Aubrey, Pete, is that Lois in #2? I don't think I've seen that photo. I like "flight." Reminds those of us non pilots of beer tasting. Lol. Flotilla? For the sea and land yacht folks??? Sherry

I think I heard that our state had 70,000 out of state workers here, with trucks. Just want to say, Florida folks love all of you unnamed pros who sacrificed time at home with your families to bring the power to our homes, and more importantly, to hospitals, fire stations, and traffic signals. We're all good here. A few cuts and sprains in the neighborhood, from working in the dark, but we really only dealt with first world problems here. Lack of ac and power, no cell phone charging, etc, for only five to seven days for most of us. It's still way worse in other parts of our state, and in the islands in Irma's path. Here, we didn't get the horrible sustained winds that other areas received. My heart goes out to the inland dwellers who caught so much unpredicted wind and rain. And even more to the Islanders...keys, Puerto Rico, vi,Cuba, Barbuda, and so many more. We here at least had messed up yards, trees, but homes to return to. So much worse elsewhere. Sherry

Our county is a mess, but a lot of help from everyone. We saw trucks from Union, Illinois in the parking lot near our inland condo this morning. Since virtually everyone in the county lost power,it was a huge and welcome surprise to see trucks from 18 hours away. Thank you guys!!! We very grateful that our home is unscathed. Trees down, and at our daughter s home, near the neighbors roof. We'll get it done. We're actually home tonight. No power anywhere, but we can deal. our dog is a bit upset with all the moving around. So many people had it worse than us. We're helping neighbors now, and hope to move beyond the neighborhoods when we can. So many places got it way worse than us. Thanks for all your positive thoughts, and prayers. just a mile away, it's far more ugly. I'm so grateful.

Buzzy. I never know what to say when someone has lost the live of his life. .so, I will tell you the truth. I would like to reach out and hold you. Better yet, God will reach out and hold you. Our lives here are intertwined. However, only those closest can be the ones to hold you up. I an deeply sorry for your lost. Love, Sherry

I finally have enough bandwidth to say that we are all ok. The storm moved east late, and we only had force one or maybe two. Not sure. I turned off notifications, and ent with my gut, and the radio. Lots of trees down, including ours, and our daughter and neighbors. We're busy trying to help everyone we can. Everyone is tired. And also grateful that we didn't experience a huge storm surge. No one I know has power. The county is littered with down wires , poles, and major debris and trees, as we expected This morning I made coffee on the camping stove. Another neighbor made pancakes. We'll get on Hoping.g all of those affected worse than us rebound. It's a huge, and ugly, storm. A huge grateful thanks to first responder s and power company employees. We love you, veben though I sit in the dark. It is what it is. Sherry Working off my brick. No power anywhere available. Signing off

Well, looks like it may be pretty nasty in Tampa Bay tomorrow night. Since we may not have power or cell towers for a few days to a bit longer, I'd like to thank all of you who have messaged me, and also ask that you not be worried if you don't hear from us in a few days. I will be in text only mode to conserve power, and we'll rotate whose phone is on, for same reason, after the lights go out. I'm making a similar post on Facebook. Thanks for all your good wishes, thoughts, and prayers. Talk to you later in the week. Sherry
