Thank you. A bit of internet searching yielded a pretty decent hipcamp site that will fit our party of 7-10 (and only our party), so I think I’m set. I’ll update my other post. It would have been fun to camp near all of you, though! mb

I bought a mini a few years ago when I used to camp solo in my van, deep in the middle of nowhere. It comes with us on every trip. I also take it with me on every mountain bike ride (even with friends since we are often quite remote) and every single scuba dive. We have a second one that I only activate occasionally, and it usually goes with my son when he travels to the mountains skiing. There are still quite a few passes here that have no cell coverage, but DO have regular snow and rock slides. I usually keep it on the basic plan, but will occasionally upgrade when I know we will be out for a long time without any cell coverage. It’s inexpensive peace of mind. mb

I'm very curious to see how this works for you. We currently do small loads in a laundry bag/scrubber, but are limited to a couple of pairs of bike shorts/jerseys at a time.

EDIT: We found a site at a hipcamp, also along the path. Just putting this out there in the universe. In case any Oliver owners who are heading to Lady Bird Johnson for the eclipse have a change of plans, we’d love to buy your spot. We’ve travelled with our beagle extensively. Here are some of the things that have worked for us: * Walking Trixie is the first thing we do in the morning, and the last thing we do at bed. In addition, of course, to some sort of long adventure walk/hike during the day when we are in camp. * She has her own dog bed to sleep in that we put near the bathroom. She snores like a sailor, and having her any nearer to the beds is a no-go. She also has a loose-fitting fleece jacket for cold evenings, since we keep our windows open at night. she gets a bit chilly when the temps drop into the low 40s * We have two tie-outs: one for our own camper, and one we set up in our traveling companion’s campsite when they are with us. * A collapsible dog bed helps keep her clean, and she is much less restless when she has her own space while we are eating or sitting around the fire. https://a.co/d/fOYzidI * Camping in relatively uncrowded places — she is a beagle, after all. While she doesn’t usually bark while in the camper, or while we are around, she generally does better when there isn’t a lot of foot traffic right outside our door. * We now try to avoid National Parks with strict no-dogs-off-pavement rules. Olympic National Park was rough on all of us because the campground was pretty isolated, and all we could do was walk her around the camp road. This really wasn’t great for a dog used to 4-7 mile hikes. We left early. 🙂 All in all, we love camping with Trixie. We’re very lucky that she is OK with our leaving her for 3 or 4 hours to go adventuring. mb

I like the glass holder, but tend to agree with your Matt that it would take up a lot of space. We travel with 4 insulated coffee mugs, 4 plastic stemless wine glasses (so we can share!) and a few stainless cocktail glassses, all of which fit in the second drawer under our sink, next to a stack of Corell plates and bowls. We cushion the Correll with kitchen clots. Our drinking water goes into cycling water bottles, so it’s spill proof when we’re driving. The only disposables we carry are paper towels and toilet paper.

Very nice. We’re considering starlink since we are usually camped in places without much cell coverage, but we almost never have shore power. I’m hoping that starlink eventually has a 12v option. We have plenty of solar/battery to run the inverter…I just don’t like to. Specifically, I don’t like having to remember to turn it off at night. 🙂

NEVER MIND!!!! It suddenly occurred to me that because a red light came on when I tested the GFCI circuit, there actually was power to that outlet. I plug something into it and it worked! Plug something in outside and everything else works too! My problem was that I was relying on the microwave turning on and beeping at me when I turned on the inverter to indicate that all the systems were working. Turns out the microwave had come unplugged during travel and I didn’t have my usual signal that everything was working well. Sorry for the bother. This was definitely operator error!

It definitely pops when I test it. And a red light goes on. Goes off when I reset.

I think.so! When I hit the test button, it pops and a red light goes on. When I hit reset, it resets and the red light goes off. I can't remember ...is there a green light when it is actually working? I have a niggling memory...

The inverter turns on, but doesn't invert. In other words, there is power to the xantrex - it shows me the battery voltage, for example, but does not convert to 110v

Bill, Thanks for the response. Hopefully the electrical gurus are all out camping! 🙂 I'm boondocking, so no pole power to worry about. Unless there's a ightning strike during my test of "bypass" there shouldn't be an issue. It's the"boondocking" part that has me so puzzled, and makes me now suspect the transfer switch. 12v systems are all fine, and unless I'm misunderstanding something, those aren't"fed" through the transfer switch, but pole power, and battery power headed to (from?)the inverter, are. mb

Just found this thread. It could be that something is disconnected in my transfer switch? If I can figure out how to remove the funky cover tomorrow, I'll poke around a bit.

Electrical issue while boondocking: Got to camp after a 5 hour drive, set everything up, all 12V systems are working just fine. Turned the inverter on to charge a friend's oxygen concentrator and ..... Nothing. No.power to any 110 outlets and the proven industries surge protector is black. Searched here and on FB group and tried all the solutions I could find: Resetting the GFCI under dinette Resetting the xantrex breaker under the street bed Bypass the surge protector (effectively turned it off) Reset all supplemental breakers under dinette I’m stumped. I mean, we’ll survive without our morning lattes, but I would prefer to have 110V power! Anything we’ve missed? Batteries were fully charged when we left and running the fridge on DC barely made a dent (we have the platinum package). I came here just to say this. Colorado sun is intense, and tire temperature fluctuates up 5-8 degrees!

My electricity "splurge" on chilly nights (above freezing) is to heat a sack of cherry pits for a few minutes in the microwave. If my tootsies start off warm, the rest of me is fine all night long! mb

I won't even let the ends of my fresh water hoses touch the ground! Ewwwwww!
