  1. Good to remember that Meghan plays "All About That Bass" on the Ukulele! I'll reach out to Matt and see what we can arrange. Maybe we'll get lucky on that beer this time. Scotty
  2. OK... thinking Friday night around 6pm at the Beach Pavilion. BYOC and BYOB. I'll put together a list of about 10 popular songs that people know the words to. Or, maybe have handouts with just the words so folks can sing along. I'll post a google drive location that people who play instruments can download the charts from . After the singalong, we can have a signup sheet for an Open (no) Mic, and folks can perform for us. Simple and easy. Who do I have to sweet talk to schedule the Beach Pavillion? Scotty
  3. Banjo! Damn... I'm sorry I quit the bagpipes years ago! Seriously though... We will be in E-19 and I'll have at least one Ukulele with me. We could share around some charts beforehand and pick a time and place to meet. Should be fun.
  4. Hey Gang.... Just wanted to put this out there. I have a 2016 F-150 as a TV for my LE2. At 50k miles I had a fault in the module that controlled the louvers for the turbo.... at 93k I had a fault in the hill control descent feature which turn out to be a bad electronic throttle body. Both times I got the flashing error with a bong bong bong warning and a complete loss of power. The power steering and brakes still worked but the only option was to coast to the side of the road and attempt a re-start. The 50k event happened when I was only about a half mile from home and was able to limp it home. The 93k event happened once then it was ok then again until a few thousand miles later... then finally it happened continually and I had it towed to a Ford dealership. Adding insult to injury, both Ford dealerships that I could get to were booked out weeks. So, I was without my truck for a solid month. Plus it was 2k the first time and 1400 just this week. Fortunately, this never happened while I was towing my Oliver. But it got me thinking.... How common is this in modern trucks? They are all controlled by computers. You never know when some module somewhere is going to go on the fritz and strand you. Hopefully never while you are on a trip, or while towing, especially up a mountain road with no shoulder. So why am I telling you all this...? Well, I would like to know if anyone has had a similar event with their TV.. or am I the only unlucky one. But also.... Not a bad idea to keep in mind that this can happen and you may have to get to the shoulder of the road on very short notice. At least if you are aware that this is a possibility, you might react quick enough to prevent getting stuck in the middle of a highway or in some other really bad place. It's fixed for now, and we are planning a spring trip to Canada.... Hopefully no more unpleasant surprises. Thanks for listening, Scotty
  5. This video recommends jacking under the axle. I would NOT do this without contacting Oliver first. The Dexter axles are not meant to be jack points. Several owners have damaged their axles by using a jack under them. The nose all UP and all DOWN is great info.... Thanks OP.
  6. I got a platform ladder specifically to get up top on the trailer. Three points of contact at all times and keep your belt buckle between the rails. And go slow. Or better yet.. don't go at all.
  7. So everything I’m going to say here applies to CGI detailing. When you get your trailer ceramic coated they don’t just wash it and apply the coding. They detail the trailer first They’re going to remove all the old oxidation and really make it shine before they put the ceramic coating on. If you have an older trailer and really want to bring back to shine and make it a whole lot easier to clean and and keep up I would highly recommend the ceramic coating and I highly recommend CGI.
  8. Welcome to the famiLy! Your post made me think “Who owns hull # 409?” And is she real fine……. Have fun getting that tune out of your head now.
  9. Merry Christmas and a Happy Camping New Year!
  10. The "Bean" .... before she was the bean. These were taken in June of 2016 on our factory tour after picking up #145. Oliver was doing some kind of work on the trailer. Probably getting her ready for sale before the Shaffers found her. Oliver may have gotten the restoration ball rolling but they did the rest, including the pinstriping etc. Very unusual Oliver to see.
  11. Is the bullet still available.... ? Ammo shortage and all that. :-)
  12. Hey everyone! We are planning on being in Quartzite in early February 2023. Will be travelling from Western NC along the southern route in January, and back in late February or Early March. Usually when we camp in the cold months I winterize and we just dry camp. But, this will be a longer trip and we'll need water. I surely don't want to de-winterize (summerize?) and re-winterize on the road. So.... I was wondering if the brain trust would share some knowledge? How far north can we go? Anything to look out for? TIA, Scotty
  13. I want the rocking when someone comes up the stairs. Look over and if the wife is in her bunk.... Grab the shotgun.
  14. This was one of the first things we did with our trailer. I was a bit alarmed at how the stock black strips seem to be dirt magnets. So, decided to carpet the steps. I am pretty sure that Oliver sells these in the store. New Oliver owners should plan on buying some at pickup.
  15. We just had our done by CGI and I am looking forward to the first wash..... Wait!?! .... What did I just say??
  16. Starting to do some advance planning for a trip out west to Quartzite. Hard to find info on the Fiberglass gathering at Dome Rock. Last year it started on the 7th, so I would assume in 23' it would be the 4th to 11th. Anyone else interested in meeting out there? Any info / advice from folks that have previously been there would be appreciated.
  17. The lawyer at the end of the video explains "Negligence Per Se" or Negligence in and of itself.... Makes the case for being very careful about loading and using the proper equipment. If you are required to use a WDH and you don't use one.... and get involved in a lawsuit. I don't even want to think of the consequences.
  18. Congrats and welcome to the family. Remember.... A/C Fan on LOW.... Heat... Fan on AUTO. Happy camping.

    Cigars!

Sounds Like Cigars and Cognac at the Next Oliver Rally! Can't wait.
  20. Pretty sure they have a 5 year shelf life. 2017 / 2018 trailers are pretty close to done. We replaced ours last year.
  21. For a while now I have been wondering how Dometic was going to answer Truma's debut into the American RV market. This may be their answer. The RTX 2000. They say it's quiet. In this video they only run it on high but it's not installed so you hear noise from above and below. (outside and inside if it was installed) It will be interesting to see what becomes of this. Maybe at the least people have another choice to consider for upgrade.
  22. I have been following this thread closely... We have the Dometic Penguin. I am a bit disappointed.... I have been checking the A/C regularly..... So far not a single Penguin.
  23. Wow... that was an informing video. Electric tow vehicle.. On your next trip I think you should practice unhooking your trailer every time you fill up with gas. I think that would put the issue to bed in one trip. Also wondering where the electricity is coming from at their charging locations. Might have been a lot of coal used to power that trip. And this coming from a guy whose second car is a Prius. And I love the 45mpg I get from it. Just not for long trips and towing. Scotty
  24. I just quickly checked the web page and 7,700 was what was listed. That will change depending on the model and options etc. Whatever TV you decide on.. before you buy.. Get out your Sherlock Holmes Magnifying Glass and in a Lawyer frame of mind and read the manual regarding towing very carefully. The fine print can be a killer. My comfort level was having about a 30% buffer in capacity. So, 11,000 lbs. capacity will do that for you. But check on the need for a WDH. My guess is you will need one to be compliant. Most half ton pickups REQUIRE them. Now that doesn't mean the half tons won't tow an LE2 quite handily without one... but it does mean if there is an accident and you don't have a WDH when it's required... some attorney might have you for lunch. Good Luck and let us know how you make out.
  25. Heat = Fan on AUTO A/C = Fan on LOW Good Luck
