3 Great Oliver videos. Elite, Elite II and Factory tour
Mike and Carol replied to ackcr500's topic in General Discussion
Has anyone figured out a way to secure the tops with something other than Velcro that would make them more secure? Some kind of hinge with a hidden pin? I like these areas not just because they aren’t obvious but because they are nice extra storage areas. Seems like there should be a way to secure them without advertising what they are. I’m going to give this some thought, there has to be a simple yet effective solution.... -
Agree with Steve, check under the dinette seat. Also make sure you are level and that the front of the trailer is not too low. Mike

Looks like a good design. Do you have two that are connected by the rope/bungee? I’m still collecting ideas for our Camping for Dummies Session at the rally. A discussion on chocks and blocks might be good. Post ideas and pics! Mike

We use the bathroom window a lot. We usually open it after a shower and turn the fan on. On nice days it stays open to provide general ventilation. It also lights up the bathroom during the day. We wouldn’t be without it. Mike

Oliver Travel Trailers Virtual Tour Page
Mike and Carol replied to JWalmsley's topic in General Discussion
Jason, this is a nice touch. I went to the Elite II and tried to move around and it kept restarting and taking me back to the start page. I’m using an iPad. This will be a nice feature. Mike -
3 Great Oliver videos. Elite, Elite II and Factory tour
Mike and Carol replied to ackcr500's topic in General Discussion
These are good videos and should help the Oliver cause. I agree about the hidden storage, not so hidden anymore. The random thief probably doesn’t watch YouTube videos on Oliver trailers so probably not too big of a big deal. The new trailers look nice and I like some of the upgrades. A lot has changed in the last few years. Mike -
That looks like a great way to hold the door open! There are a couple of other ideas at the link below. http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/how-to-bathroom-door-hold-open/ I did add a couple of stick-on bumpers to decrease the magnet strength.

Without listening I think it is probably normal. There is a little flexing to the floor with some associated noise. Mike

Protecting items INSIDE the Oliver II Elite

I know some folks have installed a safe in the nightstand space in place of the wooden insert. You should be able to find some posts about that as well as installing a gun safe in the closet. Mike -

Kathryn and Chad in Upstate South Carolina
Mike and Carol replied to ScentFreeInSC's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome to the Oliver family! Our Oliver is our first RV too and after 3 years we couldn’t be happier. There are lots of smart folks on the forum to answer questions, so ask away. If you can attend the rally, even before your trailer is ready, you’ll meet some great owners and learn a lot. Looking forward to meeting you. Mike -

Parking on slope - Clean water tank empty

Another thing to check is your water pump. There are two red wires that connect to the underneath front of the pump. My pump quit working when both wires worked themslelves lose. Here’s a pic of what I found when I looked. If they are not connected feel around for a blade connection under the front of the pump, there are two. If the wires don’t fit tight give then a squeeze with some pliers. -

Andersen WD Hitch - Departure Angle Limit?
Mike and Carol replied to mdernier's topic in Towing an Oliver
When my original hitch started groaning loudly Andersen sent me a new sleeve. I couldn’t separate the hitch to get the old sleeve out, so they sent me a whole new assembly along with a small bottle of Boeshield T-9. I was told to put a couple of drops of the lube on the top of the sleeve periodically. I have been doing this for a couple of years and don’t have any groan. BTW, everything Andersen sent me was at no cost to me. I did have to return my old hitch when they sent me a new one, but it was their expense. Good customer service. Mike -
Andersen WD Hitch - Departure Angle Limit?
Mike and Carol replied to mdernier's topic in Towing an Oliver
I still have the old design. It’s working fine, but Bill says the new hitch is better and it’s only $100 to upgrade so I might make the change. I’m on my second cone, was getting a lot of groaning on the first. It’s been about 18 months with the second cone and no noise. I do use a couple drops of lube periodically as recommended by Andersen. Mike -
Andersen WD Hitch - Departure Angle Limit?
Mike and Carol replied to mdernier's topic in Towing an Oliver
The Andersen Hitch is an interesting piece of kit. Some hate it, some don’t. I got it because I towed with a 2012 Tacoma for the first six months. When I got my Ram 1500 I continued using it. I got it set up and never change the tension when putting it on or taking it off, I just check to ensure the same number of threads are always showing at the bushings. I check the connection links on the chains, they can loosen. Other than that, I keep it clean and lubed and it works like a charm. We’ve had a few instances of steep grade where there was a difference between the truck and trailer but the Andersen handled it fine. NOTE: I don’t do any extreme off-roading. Mike -
Black Tank Flush Port Inlet Valve
Mike and Carol replied to dbp05ret's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Yes, there is a connection for the black tank flush on the street side of the trailer toward the front. My understanding is that there is a back flow valve installed to prevent any black water leaking back down to the connection. I might have an on/off under my dinette seat but have never opened or closed it. I’ll look next time I have the space opened. If I have one it came open from the factory. I routinely use the black tank flush and have had no issues with back flow. Mike -

Bluetooth Pairing to Samsung Smart Phone
Mike and Carol replied to dbp05ret's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I had a hard time pairing my phone to our Furrion. I have an iPhone and the older Furrion, but maybe this will work for you. When I tried pairing I got the same kind of message you did. On our Furrion if you push the on/off button it goes into a sleep mode, dim lights. If you push and hold it goes completely off. Once I completely powered down and then turned it back on it paired easily and has stayed paired for years. Now, whenever I turn on the Furrion it automatically starts playing whatever I last had going on my phone. Worth at try. Mike -
Darryl and Kim, congrats! We haven’t tried David Crockett SP but will put it on our list. Hope to see you on the road! Mike
