  1. You can get plastic shims that are used to level fountains and bird baths. I think I got mine at Home Depot. Mike
  2. Is tire rotation really necessary? Mine are 2 years old with about 22K miles. They still look new. My plan is to replace all four tires after about five years, leaving the spare alone. When I installed my TPMS I went to my local tire shop to have the rubber stems replaced with metal stems and to rebalance each wheel. I used the trailer jacks to lift each side to remove the tires. Mike
  3. Yes, we know how the story ends! We looked at Airstreams too, learned about Oliver and the rest is history. Welcome to the group and enjoy the journey - Mike
  4. We’ve found having the hot water tank on and the furnace going was enough to keep things ok while temps are in the 20s. I remember the week we were at Fort Huachuca last January when you saw our trailer, the temperatures were in the 20s for a several nights and we were fine. Mike
  5. Welcome to the group! I thought I’d be an Airstreamer too. No regrets here. Mike
  6. We had 3 Olivers here. We had lunch with them along with Bugeyedriver. They headed west this morning toward Quartzsite, we will follow next week. Mike
  7. Welcome to our neighborhood and brief winter weather!
  8. I was sipping my wine as I typed! We’re doing lunch tomorrow. A whole group of frozen Oliver peeps!
  9. Yesterday we were in the mid 60s. The forecast was for 20s and freezing precipitation for today and tomorrow before getting back up to normal. Yesterday here in San Antonio school closings were announced for today in anticipation of bad weather. Same in Houston. Today, I-10 and I-35 have been closed. We have maybe 1/16” of ice. It snowed for 10 minutes. It’s 25 degrees. Most folks are home for a day or so and everything is basically shut down. We have some chili in the crockpot. Fire in the fireplace. Is this how you’re supposed to do winter? ???? Mike
  10. Rdunlap welcome! Let us know if we can help or provide you any info. We’re a friendly group. Mike
  11. Paul and Donna, welcome and congratulations on your upcoming retirements! We too were first time RV owners so we had a steep learning curve as well. Since we are list people we looked at a number of checklists folks had posted to come up with our own. Then we started accumulating trailer stuff before our pick up date. It’s like moving into a small house - bedding, cooking things, dishes, cleaning stuff, etc. Our trailer has its own set of stuff so it is ready to go, less food and clothes. Latch on to some owners at the rally and see what they have and what they carry around. Some things will work for you and some won’t. We all seem to have different camping and traveling styles. Also ask about arrival and departure routines. We’d be happy to spend some time with you at the rally to show and discuss. Mike
  12. I agree with everything Bill said. I got the Andersen because I initially towed with a Tacoma and felt the need for a WD hitch with the smaller truck. I still use it with my Ram even though it has 10K+ capacity. Once you figure it out it’s quick and easy to hitch and unhitch. The folks at Andersen have been very responsive to issues. Mike
  13. This is what we have. Run it on propane. Quiet. It is heavier than the Honda. Mike
  14. We just did a tour in December. It started at 10:00 and ended at about 1:15. Mike
  15. Frank, hoping for a quick recovery/resolution. Mike
  16. Could they have been frozen in position and when you went to raise them you blew fuses? That’s the first thing I would check. Mike
  17. We hope to be there before the end of the Big Tent show.
  18. We went with the AGMs just because I didn’t want to mess with water levels. There may be technical reasons pro/con but I went with convenience. Mike
  19. We have this Breville for use at home. Works great. Mike
  20. The 110V outlet for the microwave is in the overhead storage cabinet directly above the microwave. You can have them put additional outlets just about anywhere you want. Mike
  21. Congratulations! Now the wait begins.... We are sure enjoying our Oliver and hope to see you out on the road. Mike
  22. Happy new year and happy camping in 2018!
  23. I think maybe there will be some Instant Pot recipes in the next newsletter! ???? Mike
  24. OK. Ordered this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1YD5W7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Based on what I’ve seen (and tasted) Pete speaks with some authority when it comes to culinary technique. Mike
