  1. Omg!! Think I wet myself laughing so hard! All Smiles!...... Kathy
  2. So sorry to hear this....no fun at all! Your situation may be different from ours but it may be worth checking this out. We had a fairly large amount of water entering along the bottom edge of 3 windows in our Clever Beast. We have the RV gutters and all of the weep holes were clear. Since it was 3 windows Clair thought it could be coming from the roof air conditioner. We are less than 3 hrs from the factory and wanted to take the trailer over to get the fresh water tank fix done & have a few other minor issues addressed so Clair phoned Jason for an appointment. He was very pleased that Jason was pretty sure he knew where our leaking was coming from right away. He is sleeping right now and I didn’t go over for the service appointment but I’m pretty sure it was the clearance lights. I know the windows were fine. If it was something else I’ll let you know. The problem was easily corrected and we haven’t had any leaks since. I hope your problem is an easy fix too....Kathy
  3. Mark - I spent several years on the Oliver forum before we bought our 2017 Elite ll. I visited other forums (including high-end motorhome forums) and it didn’t take me long to see that Oliver issues were minor in comparison to many other brands. Yes, I read all the good & the bad, just as you are doing, There were times that I became alarmed but my goal was to hear how those issues were dealt with. From what I read & what we have experienced with our Elite ll, the Oliver team goes out of their way to address problems and make sure their customers are happy. I am a perfectionist at heart so I had to stop and think back to my husband’s past employment as a production manager in Florida. Fact is, as long as the Oliver is manufactured by humans there are going to be problems at times. Just 1 employee having a bad day (while running a machine or with a tool in hand) can mess up several trailers. Some issues may end up getting hidden during the building process & never seen by quality control. That’s most likely one of the reasons Oliver has their customers do a “shake down” stay near the factory. Now that we have our “Clever Beast” I know that we made the right choice for our needs. Would we buy one now, knowing what it is? Yes! Have we had any problems with our Elite ll? Yes, a few minor issues but they have all been dealt with quickly and we have been pleased with Oliver’s response to those problems. Would we make any order changes if we were to do it over again? Yes, we ordered a few things that we did not need but ,all in all, we are very happy. I agree with Mike’s recommendation that you contact Reed & John directly. I would also recommend taking the Oliver plant tour so you can see the manufacturing process and get any questions answered.
  4. Thanks Mike, I was surprised when I was contacted about this new benefit. They opened the online exchange stores to some of us a couple months ago so we have been checking out pricing, etc. Its nice to have more buying options......Clair
  5. Welcome Ray, Betty Jo & Furbabies Its always fun to read introductions - your plans are very similar to ours. Congrats on ordering your Ollie II. We picked our Ollie II up the end of July ‘17 and love it. Hope we will be able to meet you at the 2018 Rally.
  6. Sounds like a great adventure! Clair was just checking out the Quartzsite gathering & the nearby balloon festival but the event dates a bit too far apart.
  7. Clair has spent many hours polishing our bumper, storage box, steps, etc. Our bumper was not polished coming from the factory. It had ragged edges & grinder marks that drove him crazy. I’m sure he will be interested/impressed by the process you have used.......Looks professional and very classy!
  8. Like the way ya’ll are thinking! Never thought of using Where’s Ollie. I think a sub section would work well too. I love sharing those unexpected pleasures that we find during our travels....most are momontary or off the beaten path, etc. Bill, I love your SC beach photo! This is the one I took last week in Hiawasee, GA - lke it so much I put it on our profile page [attachment file=75922] [attachment file=75922]
  9. Many THANKS to everybody for their thoughts on this subject. I love Bill’s (rideandfly) idea to make it an ‘America the Beautiful’, Member Photos forum section but I do not know how to get that done or even if its possible to do so. Anybody have the abilty/know how? Kathy
  10. Thanks for the rally update Matt. We made our campsite reservations long ago and most likely wouldn’t have noticed that we need to register with Oliver too. I’m pleased that we can do the Oliver registratioon online.
  11. Congratulations Robin & Susan! Ladybug is perfect & I love your decal. My mom & dad (both gone now) loved CB radios & my mom’s handle was ‘Ladybug’. Happy travels!
  12. Thank you for the update...very much appreciated!
  13. Thanks for comments/opinions...it was just food for thought. In honesty, I've never been to the western states so I find the photos everybody shares delightful! I can dream of seeing them in person some day.....Kathy
  14. How do people feel about creating an “America the Beautiful” photo section so members can post beautiful & interesting photos of areas they have visited while traveling in their Ollies? We could post a brief description & location so others could see what we are finding and possibly add the site to their list of “places to visit” during their Ollie travels. The reason I ask; I recently posted some awesome photos on my “Clever Beast travels” topic and don’t think many saw them. I know that I have found photos in various topics that have made me want to travel to those areas. I would love to be able to share and see what others are seeing while out on the road. Would anybody else be interested in doing this? Comments & opinions appreciated. Smiles....Kathy
  15. Beautiful Day in Hiawasee, GA. The day started with a trip to the Bell Mountain County Park and Historical Site. The 18 acre mountain summit originally belonged to the Cherokee Indians who were forced to leave on the Trail of Tears to reservations in Oklahoma in the 1830’s. The property was drawn in the 1832 land lottery by William Taylor and ownership changed hands several times over 183 years. In 2015 it was deeded to Towns County. The summit is interesting with 50 years of historical graffiti on surrounding rocks, the Hal Herrin Overlook, and a 115 step observation deck to view the area. Posting views of Lake Chatuge and surrounding Appalacian mountains. The following photos were taken with my old iPhone 5s, so not the best quality but still some awesome photos. Following our trip we headed over to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds for the fall festival and enjoyed a Bluegrass contert featuring Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. All in all, a very fine day! 16. “We use our step a lot, be sure to get the adjustable legs on it because there have been places that we camped that each leg was set at a different height to level it.” —————————————————————————————————————- Your step platform looks just like the one we have been checking out. I agree that “adjustable” legs are a must have. Thanks for the photo...love your traveling companion! Smiles....Kathy
  17. Canoe12 So happy to see that Bill spoke up about the Clam. Ours is still new to us. Sounds like we chose a larger size since it takes 5 wind panels. I know they come in tan/brown, green and camo. We have a tan/brown one. I don’t have a lot of info on them but they sure are easy to put up and take down. I can tell you about the storm that hit us in AL....it was quick and intense, we had our Clam up with 3 wind/privacy panels in place when the storm hit and while we were busy taking care of the Oliver awning the gusts of wind pulled the ropes loose from the well driven in stakes and pushed in 3 of the sides. As soon as we could We pushed in the remaining sides and lowered the top to the ground, weighing it down with our chairs & everything else we could find. After the storm passed we prayed all would be ok. It set back up as if nothing had happened. We Haven’t tried heaters or anything like that yet. We currently have ours set over a large picnic table with pleny of room to move around it.
  18. Thanks SeaDawg...you are correct, we have a slow connection and it didn’t appear to be going thru. John, I tried deleting content but every time I tried to edit the words out they’d still be there. At least I got rid of the doubled photos ???????????? Reed, notice how high our steps are? I had to stack up some of our horse mat pads to be able to reach the bottom step. I guess we need to get one of those aluminum folding platforms. Anyway, back to the awning, we decided to put a light tie down on the one end (not straight down) because at its 4-5ft extension point it was too high for me to get a hold of the front edge in high wind conditions like we had at Lake Guntersville SP. We have since brought the awning out further to drop the front edge because it needs frequent leaf removal. Doesn’t need a tie down now. Sure is gorgeous here today! Smiles...Kathy
  19. Oops! Double post - could somebody remove the second one for me? Thanks!
  20. Well, we got all of our medical needs taken care of and finally hit the road on Monday. This time we are staying in a small privately owned park, Long Ridge Campground, in Hiawassi, GA. The park owners placed us on a much larger site this year so we’d have room for our Clam screenroom, etc. Its so quiet and peaceful up here on the hill. Emma thinks she owns this campground, since we come here so frequently. She makes sure we walk her to all of her past hangout areas and has to be walked down to the office every morning to get her treat from the owners too. The Hiawassi Fall Festival and Fiddler’s convention starts this weekend so we try to head this way annually for the music and area craft, etc. We drove over to Brasstown Bald Mountain in Blairsville, GA this morning but it was quite overcast up on the mountain so we will go back another day. I was hoping to get a few photos of fall colors but its a little early for that. Next week should be much better. While we are here we will take day trips over to North Carolina and various areas we’ve visited in the past. This is such a lovely area. [attachment file=74206] [attachment file=74209]
  21. Welcome Stef & Steve! Good to hear that you were able to connect with Dan & Sherry to view heir Ollie. We are Mchiganders, currently living in the great state of Tennessee. We picked up our 2017 Elite ll in July. Can’t wait to get over your way while on our travels.
  22. We’re at home prepping for our next trip right now. The harvest moon was clear & gorgeous here. I only wish we had been out camping while viewing it. Headed to Hiawassi, GA on Monday for the fall festival - Yay!
  23. Thank you for the link to Sandy’s & your adventure together. Clair & I are going on a trip so it will make some fine reading for me. I’m a dog lver, thru & thru so I can understand the love & admiration you feel. Thank you for sharing your story.
  24. Wahoo! All set to get out and see this beautiful country! Trailer looks sharp! Sending our best wishes your way. Smiles...Kathy
  25. Using the shower mat really depends on how tall of people will be showering. At 6’1″ we took ours out and gave it away because I could no longer stand up in the bathroom, I prefer the bare white floor for the most room when using the bathroom, plus it’s a quick rinse if you bring mud in. Reed ———————- I remember you mentioning these points about the shower mat in a previous post. I am short so the added height won’t be a problem but you do bring up a good point re: mud & dirt. Thanks Reed
