Removing shelf under bathroom sink for plumbing access.

Hello all, 

do you simply pry these white caps off?

I am getting some resistance, so I wanted to make sure before I go to town on them.

Hello Marc,

Yes. There is a phillips screw head under that plastic cap.  A gentle but firm pry should pop them off. I think I used a plastic putty knife but a small standard screwdriver should work, being carefull not to damage the fiberglass.  

You will also have to carefully break (slice) the bead of silicone caulk around the edge of the access panel to remove it.  A new sharp plastic razor blade should work without damaging the fiberglass.

Suggest adding your Hull number to your posts so folks know what year your trailer/equipment is.

I wasn’t able to figure out how to add my hull # to my signature, but it’s 2024 hull 1502. 
I got it off and cleaned up. 
is this a vent stack or anti siphon setup?

To make changes in your signature:

 

Click on your name in the upper right corner of the page.  
It will pop open this window:

Look under SETTINGS and click on account settings.
 

In the settings tab that opens up...near bottom you'll see signature with the pencil icon. 

Click on that signature line and it will pop open...you can add what you want including maps of your travels, hull # etc.

That brass port is the anti-siphon air gap from your black tank flush.  The inlet to your external black flush hose bib on the side of the trailer (down low just below the dinette window) runs up to that antiphon then back down to the side of your black tank which is where it connects to the wash head.  Once done flushing, that air breaker enables water to drain back out of the inlet port line out the street connection to your flush port.

The air gap is an anti suction device that keeps black tank water from coming back out the exterior flush lines.
It also makes that line self draining to prevent freeze ups in the flush line.

 (After you take your hose off after flushing...you'll see about a quart of water drain back out the connection.)

Yes - your year and hull # now appear - thanks for doing this.

Of course, you can add other information , tow vehicle, battery configuration, inverter size, fridge, furnace, and hot water configurations, etc. if you want.  Take a look at the signatures of others to get ideas.  All these details are not necessary, but, they do help the members of the Forum to help you in the event that arises again.

There are pluses and minuses of both. Further up and on an angle, the pull on the 144” cable would be smoother but it takes away from the storage space. I had to replace our cable since it got kinked from the hard angle (see pic below), and even with a brand new cable it's still not easy to pull. We have a lot of storage though, where a large basket fits nicely down there! Every Oliver is truly unique.

That is interesting, I wonder if there is an electric valve option that we cannot see in that view?  That is the first PVC drain pipe I have seen Oliver use.

Yep, ours are ABS. And don’t the new Olivers have electric waste valves and something different for the pull handle for the bathroom gray? I replaced that one with electric but an electric valve would not fit on the black tank waste valve where they plumbed ours without replacing all the ABS.

that is interesting,

the valve separating the shower from the grey tank is also significantly further aft in my trailer compared to yours. My valve cables operate smoothly. My valves are manual, not electric.

Not sure why they went PVC for waste lines, I never really thought about that. Not sure it really makes a functional difference

ABS (black) pipe is for waste lines, much less expensive pipe. PVC is used for fresh water and sometimes exposed sink drains, etc. You can use PVC in place of ABS like in your Oliver plumbing, but ABS is only used for gray and black waste plumbing, not rated for fresh water.

Our 2023 is the same, and we were surprised to see it in the middle of the compartment, especially after seeing older models with the vacuum formed tray in there. But I suspect it is to ease the cable angle as much as to prevent using the bay for storage. Our TP and paper towels get stored in there.
