ShallowGal 99
Does anyone have a list of what to do/check/clean/lube on the roof of our Ollies? I'll be up there replacing the operator mechanism on the MaxxFan & want to tackle everything else while there. We've had the camper two years and have never been up there. Thanks! Moderators Overland 1,409 Posted April 26, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 26, 2020 I'd just do a thorough cleaning and check for any caulking that may be deteriorated. You might also take off the AC cover to see if there are leaves or anything that needs to be cleaned out. 1 El Palacio Huevo Nieve, Legado Selecto Dos, Numero
Moderators SeaDawg 1,371 Posted April 27, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 27, 2020 As above, but I'd throw a coat of wax on that roof. We do ours twice a year. 2 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #
Moderators Mike and Carol 1,172 Posted April 27, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 27, 2020 I’m on the roof at least several times a year, if I’m washing I start with the roof. Like Sherry, the roof is waxed when the trailer is waxed, a couple of times a year. I wash with the maxxfan cover open to get the area that is covered when it is closed. I check the AC to ensure no varmints have taken up residence up there. I also check the caulking around the fans and vent pipe. Washing includes under the solar panels. I like to raise the front so the rinse water flows off the roof and solar panels. John E Davies 1,229
If you have solar, it makes access to the roof sooooo much easier if you make some panel extension arms, so you can tilt it way up and then slide yourself around on a soft foam camping pad..... https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/2791-how-to-solar-panel-extension-arms/ John Davies Spokane WA Edited April 27, 2020 by John E Davies 1 2 "Mouse": 2017 Legacy Elite II NARV (Not An RV) Two Beds, Hull Number 218, See my HOW TO threads: https://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/john-e-davies-how-to-threads-and-tech-articles-links/ Tow Vehicle: 2013 Land Cruiser 200, 33" LT tires, airbags.
