  1. I am confused here, so please bear with me as I ask...it was my understanding that the Olivers were all weather/four season trailers. I thought this meant that they were built to be utilized during below freezing temperatures. Why would it be necessary to winterize while camping in cold locations if the heater is used? If traveling, couldn't the heater be left on inside the camper just as the refrigerator is when in transit? If I am not correct, would someone please let me know what four seasons means? Thank you.
  2. I think it would be a wonderful idea! I love looking at the pictures of where everyone camps. I love the videos made...and I always learn something from them. In fact, I was introduced to OTT with Buzzy's videos. As a wannabe, pictures give me so many ideas. My vote is: Do it!!
  3. Question for those who know: Is the Elite @ 5000# towable by a 4Runner @ max tow capability of 5000#? I would love to tow with an affordable SUV, but had ruled out the 4Runner. Thanks!
  4. Hi PopcornBilly. I am so sorry for your loss. I too am a lurker while I wait for my home to sell. My dream is to have an Oliver and live in our great country for a few years. Good luck!
  5. Passel of Olivers....An Oliver Passel!
  6. Oh, Buzzy, I am so very sorry for your losses. A wise friend once said to me after I had too lost a loved one..."Give time time to do its work". It does take time to soften the wounds of loss into wonderful memories. Life would be so bleak if we didn't have the memories of loved ones who moved on before us. Hugs! Now, that Buddy Boy---he is one handsome fellow!! That bath and brushing has shown his heartbreaker side! Thank you for sharing your losses with us all. Be well.
  7. I have often thought about simply making the dinette a permanent sofa/bunk bed. Don't know if it is possible, but would love the pole to be cut down to make the table permanently in the down position with the pole as support. Then have cushions made like a sofa--bottom , back, and sides. Other than paying for more cushions, I cannot imagine it being a big difference in the design. I agree with eating and cooking outdoors on days that allow. I would use TV tables for rainy days.
  8. What a fabulous check list! Thank you for sharing.
  9. I just wanted to know if one of the Elite options was no longer available. I am going to go with the assumption that it is because it is no longer mentioned as on option here on the site. I never intended my question to become a mean spirited debate on mattress sizes. Thank you.
  10. How lovely to read about a successful pickup and orientation. I am so happy for y'all that the shakedown trip showed no problems!! I am pea green with envy! Many happy trips to y'all.
  11. I agree with you. The size was misleading as those missing nine inches make a big difference.
  12. I've noticed the Elite Twin Bed model isn't on the site anymore. Has Oliver stopped making this model? Will the Standard Elite also disappear? There have been hints on the forum that changes were coming down the pike. I was wondering if anyone had any information. Thank you to everyone who posts in the forum. I certainly do learn so much!
  13. I love the name "Quill"!! And I do so agree, claim it now. Or..."The Violet Quill". Violet--purple--is the color of royalty. A royal quill.
  14. I don't own an OTT yet, but I am hoping to own an Elite on day. I will name her "The Lolly Olly". I know you want real owners with real names, but from one who dreams....
  15. Oh wow...so sorry this has happened to y'all! Only because I have a twin bed in one of my bedrooms, I realized by looking at the dimensions that the "twin" size beds weren't the standard sized twin beds for homes. Having slept for many decades on a queen size bed set, I doubt that I would adjust easily to a "mini twin" size. I saw a post a while back where someone wanted to use either a queen or full size mattress in the Elite II King configuration. This would be perfect for me and my pup! In fact, a full size would be perfect still leaving seating space on either side. But, not sure table size and holes in the flooring could be altered to fit a custom mattress and extra cushions for the seating be made. I would think AB Lifestyles could make custom sheets for you. And the material they describe should a great quality, albeit pricey. Perhaps the Oliver folks could send the specs to AB for you. I do hope your sheet woes are solved soon.
  16. I am not a fan of microwaves at all. I have been looking at the Breville convection toaster ovens. They weigh about 23 pounds. I doubt it would work inside the space where the microwave is in an Oliver, but perhaps could be stored there when not in use. It is the route I plan to go so that baking/broiling will be an option.
  17. However the "human waste" stored gets disposed of, it will be me doing it. And I am still about six months away from making any purchase. The whole idea of having to empty any sort of tank was and still is a bit daunting to me, but I do realize it is the price I will pay for traveling with a travel trailer. I am praying that which ever trailer I decide to buy, the information given will familiarize me enough to be able to do it with little or no mess. I was serious about the wonderfully useful information and photographs being so good. Perhaps doing some research and learning more about a composting toilet will become an idea that doesn't give me pause. Thank you again for sharing so much with everyone.
  18. This is the fabulous thread with tons of information...BUT...and I know this is a female thing: I just can't wrap my mind around composting poop in a toilet vs a regular flush toilet. Emptying the black tank doesn't seem unreasonable to me, but composting....shivers. Thank you all for such wonderful pictures and explanations.
