  1. I like the idea of flashing lights and waving!! Maybe one day, there will be an OTT chat app for phones/computers where you can text (perhaps OTTrig # would be username) and touch base (NOT while driving!). If owners want a meet-up, one could be arranged.
  2. I didn't specifically mean the supersized propane tank when I said bigger Ollie. It was a more general statement for the changes and needs you listed. And...well, I was being silly. "We're gonna need a bigger boat" in Jaws. Fulltiming, IMHO, would be next to impossible in the small OTT. One person or a couple, with a few specific wants and needs, could make OTT II work and be very happy. I believe one of the best upgrades is the Convection/Microwave for those with dietary issues.
  3. Perhaps if the pole were cut to the height of the ledges it would add support and hold the table in place. Of course, then it is no longer an additional table, just a bed support. Just a thought.
  4. Part of my head and heart wants to believe this was an accident, and no one would have so little respect for others to do this. With that said, the other half of my head and heart cannot imagine having so little respect for one's self and others as to even think about dumping human waste in an open parking lot! Surely there is some environmental agency to step in and investigate? If done once, it probably wasn't the first time. The very thought of disease breeding is frightening. Paying for the clean up is one thing, but surely an additional fine is warranted!
  5. And I was hoping Monday morning the site was down because they were adding the Oliver Elite III! You know the one that is 25' X" long and has a separate shower in the bath? And a queen bed? That one. But alas, it is only in my dreams. Other than that, I believe this site is fabulously done, well maintained, and a joy to visit. Is that Sam Elliott's voice in the video? Sounds like him.
  6. What a beautiful picture! Maybe Iowa is Heaven after all!
  7. Truly, a new prototype? Or are you kidding?
  8. I am so glad the owner is doing better and recouping in their Ollie Home. I am also so happy to hear that help was available and many stepped up to give aid. Oliver does indeed go above and beyond for their family. Well done to all those who helped an "Ollie sibling".
  9. Well, any news of an Oliver III at the Rally?
  10. Slide out(s) hold no appeal for me either. Three feet longer would still fit into most sites and could be family friendly. I believe what most customers would love to see in Ollie III is a larger fridge/freezer, a dry bath, a queen sized bed that could be left made up as a bed, and a stove/oven combo. Reinventing itself isn't what customers want, IMHO. Just a bit longer with a few more conveniences. I love the convection option added! Truly a great option for those who love to or have to do their own cooking. The Airstream FC 26RBT or 26RBQ has a wonderful floor plan, BUT is an Airstream with all the worries that they bring but Olivers don't. The best selling point that Oliver has (or any RV manufacturer could have) is quality coupled with durability. And Olivers are appealing and beautiful to the eye!! A natural progression in size would be so welcomed by customers, as long as they don't mess with the "pretty" that Oliver brings!
  11. If your health is good and you truly have a desire to downsize at this point in your life, then go for it!! But, make sure you have an exit plan just in case living alone is no longer an option. Will you be ok financially to rent a small apartment? Go into assisted living if that becomes necessary? If you are able to do this, then there is no reason not to go ahead with your plan. Can one be happy? Happiness, I believe, must already be in your heart before making any major life changes like the one you are considering. Your plans sound so wonderfully filled with hope and courage and opportunity. With that said, only you can know if you will have the peace of mind, heart, and soul that will bring much happiness. To be honest, my plan is to do the same...see the country and nomad along the way with an Ollie in tow. Good luck to you wherever your journey takes you.
  12. It's been a while since I have read anything on the forum having to do with a larger OEIII. Seems that most owners wouldn't want too much more than 2-3 feet added. Dry bath, queen bed (60x80), larger refrigerator, a stove/oven combo, and a fold down bunk over dinette to add another sleeping option that would give options for four. Any credible scuttlebutt floating around??
  13. Community. We tend to think of this word in its geographic meaning. But community means so much more. I believe those who own or who wish to own an Oliver have a deep sense of community--of commonality, fellowship, and individuality. Since discovering Olivers and this forum, I have often read contributors referring to the "Oliver Community" in their posts. It isn't just the travel trailers that Oliver creates that is amazing. It's the owners who are so willing to help with advice, encouragement, and ideas. In the best meaning of the word "community", the builders and owners of Oliver Travel Trailers exemplify a community. The word isn't cute or catchy, but it truly illustrates fully what builders and owners are...a COMMUNITY. And I pray that one day I can be a small part of this wonderful community.
  14. I did very much enjoy those great videos!! Thank you so much. Just a thought, but since the hidden storage cubbies being shown have given many owners pause...would it be an easy fix to simply make those spaces lockable? Without a key, they would be very hard to get into and take much time. If the locking mechanisms were centered in front, the owner would have easy access to open with their key, but the lock would be hidden underneath the lip. I am not an owner YET, but it would seem like an easy fix to give owners peace of mind and deter those who seek to steal. Again, I did so enjoy these videos!
  15. In my mind's eye, my perfect Oliver Trailer would only be 1.5 to 2 feet longer with no difference to the width. It would have a side to side Queen sized bed (think standard plan, but with a queen set up). The spaces gained between the stove/pantry would have a drawer each for added storage with tops being night stands. The new extra length would be used to have a bit larger fridge/freezer, a bit more space in the kitchen area, moving the closet to the drivers side...basically keeping the new length in the living/dining/kitchen area. The bath would now span the width of the front of the trailer giving the space to have a bit larger shower area. The microwave would need to be moved because the larger fridge would be taller, but there would be plenty of area to do this in the kitchen. Or, for those of us who never quite got the point of a microwave, perhaps a stove/oven combo using propane. For those who love to be out and about in nature, the larger fridge and an oven may prove to make booning time longer without the need to restock. The larger bath is strictly a comfort thing. I don't believe these changes would affect the tank sizes, the air conditioner size, the need for more batteries, or much else but a longer base on which to rest. I hope your shoulder heals up well and soon.
  16. I am always so impressed by the DIY talents of those here in the forum. The skill level of those of you who share your crafts/modifications/servicing for your OTT is amazing and mind boggling to one who can only crochet (a skill that is wonderful, but won't do much to fix anything broken, make changes to the trailer, or add anything needed). My training as a teacher leaves me with little repair skills or modification talent. When I say I am impressed, truly I mean this from my heart. Bravo on the carpentry skills you possess that enables you to make such lovely cutting boards!! Well done!!
  17. Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpas, uncles, and brothers who have parented a child. There is no other job that is more important when done right! May your day be filled with love and joy!
  18. Thank you so much for showing the graph on RV sales. Looking at the years, it didn't surprize me that the "Dynasty" 80's was a low sale period. IMHO, I remember those years as more indulgent as for as recreational dollars being spent...not that the economy was that great. The 90's were more family/nature/escape focused. Right after the new millenia lots of baby boomers were retiring and hitting the road. 2010, well the economy stunk and the price of gasoline and diesel was high. I don't remember the price of a barrel of oil, but it was high (if memory serves me). And as prices of fuel has gone down, you notice the last upward swing. RV sales seem to be cyclical, so perhaps sales are due to slump again. The 60's and early 70's crew are retiring and/or due to retire soon. Maybe that will have a positive affect, maybe not. Very interesting and enlightening to see how sales have fluctuated. With that said, I don't believe OTT will see a huge slump in sales in the coming years. Their reputation if fully established now and more travelers are understanding the benefits of fiberglass hulls. Those of us who are single or empty nesters want simple reliability with the perks of technology. OTT offers this and more. Only because my dream is to full time for a decade before settling down for my golden years, I would love a 25 ft OTT with a larger bath (can still be wet bath), a queen sized bed instead of king or skinny twin, and a propane stove and oven combo as preparing my own meals is a necessity health wise (for me). As I stated here before, I do know that many other manufacturers do fill the bill BUT they aren't OTT quality. Thank you again for the information. I just hope when and if OTT expands their production line, the still keep the focus on quality. More is only better if the quality is there.
  19. Sighs...Like I said, "Well, Phooey!" Thank you all for your input and info.
  20. I know I tend to live in LaLaLand and hope for what I really want, but I was soooo wishing that a larger OTT would be introduced at the rally...sighs. Just 2 or 3 feet longer with a stove/oven combo, larger bath, and perhaps a walk around standard or queen size bed. I know other manufacturers make these, but they aren't Oliver. And after viewing the AS Nest, poor pitiful overpriced little trailer that it is, I know OTT could make a 25/26 footer and bring it in at under 100k. Well, in my dreams I know this. What a cozy "home" it would make for full timing for a decade or so. Has anyone else dreamed a dream for Oliver III?
  21. To my knowledge, Oliver has a 23 foot trailer, not a 25 foot trailer. I have no doubt that each trailer will do well.
  22. Growing up in SE Louisiana where we have go-cups at just about any bar, it amuses me to think that anywhere in the USA one cannot enjoy alcoholic beverages while outside at one's RV site. Louisiana may take drinking to the extreme, but if parked in an RV spot and enjoying the outdoors and relaxing...well, it should be a personal choice. I would never advocate drinking and driving or drinking while hunting; but to not be able to enjoy a drink of choice while sitting outside one's RV parked in a state or national park? I would be interested to know more about these regulations if someone has links to sites. Thanks so much.
  23. As one who is only a camper wannabe, it would be both fun and informative to know what items you thought you just had to bring, but never really used. I often wonder if I would need things like my blender, my food processor, my George Forman grill...etc. Thanks!
  24. It seems odd that the person who makes the cushions decides on a small selection of fabrics for all. Part of attraction of an Oliver...and there are scores of attractions...was the ability to choose custom fabrics for the cushions. It is sad that option is no longer an option.
