  1. BTW, I have no idea what Oliver is installing these days for TV antenna. Do any if you know?
  2. That looks really nice. Have you had to do any tight turns yet? If so, how did that work out? Ps. Is that a jeep gladiator truck? Elite I or II? Sherry
  3. I'm looking forward to livestreaming the Tesla Battery Day announcements. If Elon is saying it "blows his mind," I'm sure we're looking at some major tech advances. I don't think that will include a new rv battery chemistry, 😆, but there's always hope for a new, scaleable, more affordable alternative. Sherry
  4. Good luck with the smoke, John. Looking forward to your results when it's safe to do your test. Thanks to both of you!
  5. From the David Crockett website:
  6. For those of you with Delta faucets anywhere, I had my first failure with a Delta product, at home. It wasn't even a leaker, just "cosmetic." The colored red coating on my Delta Fuse kitchen faucet has developed some dings and scratches in 5 years of use. Delta stepped up. Asked for photos, and original receipt. It has been discontinued, but Delta sent me a new, similar faucet in brushed stainless. Since I have many Delta products in my home, including all the shower valves, I was really heartened to get such a quick response. That said, I'll really miss that touch of red in the kitchen. Sherry
  7. When we bought our 2008 Elite, it was a build in progress, with a Kingdome satellite antenna already installed. Original buyer had canceled the contract, and we chose that one, hull #12 , because we could have it in a month. Never really used the kingdome. Now, it's cracking, and we want to get it off the roof. We can just remove it, clean everything up, and seal the mounting bracket holes with epoxy, and cover the wire leads with eternabond. But, after this last camping trip, 6 out of 8 days mostly inside with torrential rain, Paul thinks he might actually want a roof mount TV/FM radio antenna, even though we've turned the TV on twice in the last ten years... Converge, the cool shark fin? Winegards new air360? Both are upgradeable to wifi/internet with inside units. Or, just stay simple, with a marine, Shakespeare Seawatch 19" omnidirectional saucer antenna, with a distribution box /amplifier for TV and fm radio, dc or ac powered. Total cost about $150, if I buy open box on Amazon, and we install ourselves. Still under $200, if I order from one if our favorite marine suppliers. I'm leaning toward the Shakespeare Seawatch, since it's relatively inexpensive (we'll likely not use it much, anyway), gets good reviews, and has a range of 75 miles (optimal). And, it's kind if pretty. Or, just pull off the KingDome, and seal the penetrations Any real reason to go with a more advanced choice?
  8. I'm sad to see the Nest go. ButvI was sad when Airstream bought it out from Robert Johans. As his original design, it was an innovative, light and airy camper. Yes, it was more suitable for weekends or short trips, and didn't have a full bathroom, but it was 30 per cent or better less in weight, and, if course, price. Airstream clunked the floorplans, bloated the interior with heavy builtins, and failed in execution, except for creating lovely photos and a cool little website. Actually, if it weren't for the weight, and making up the bed every day, the 16u floorplan wasn't as terrible as the permanent bed plan. But a ridiculous price for the Airstream label. Was it ever a camper for me? No. Not really. But I'm still sad that an innovative product had its life shortened. https://ifitshipitshere.blogspot.com/2013/11/good-design-for-great-outdoors-nest.html?m=1 Sherry
  9. So, assuming this is the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk? Your Elite should look great paired with this 4 x 4. The tow package was standard, right? I believe we had one or two others towing Elites with the Grand Cherokee. With a gvwr on the Elite of 5000 pounds, you'll likely be happy, and well within your tow capacity. I'd encourage you to limit the amount of "stuff" you carry the first trip, just til you get used to it. What else have you towed with the Trailhawk? That's the Grand Cherokee version my daughter really loved when she was looking last year, but it was out of her budget range. Sherry
  10. Yes, I believe it means the poster is a newer member. I'm assuming it will disappear after five or ten posts. A new member designation is common on a lot of forums, but we've never had it here, until now. Sherry
  11. Mac and rideandfly, when you have the atv or utv on the back, is it possible to open the tailgate and access anything in the pickup bed? Do either of you have slide drawers for " the rest of the stuff."? What ramps do you carry for the atv/utv? That's a pretty steep incline for loading/unloading. Sherry
  12. Essential in fly season! And I love Tractor Supply. At many of them, you can buy lpg by weight.
  13. Here's another. An ice cube tray that won't spill water underway. I bought mine in Australia years ago for 2 or 3 dollars, but the OXO version is nicer, with the silicon lid,, even though a little more.
  14. I often spend a lot of time discussing big purchases on this forum. But, it's often the little things that make our days (or nights. ) What's your best purchase, under $20, that you use all the time? I have many, but I will start with a few: Harbor freight flashlight. Used to be free with a coupon, now it's under a dollar. The hook on the front I can hang off my collar. I love these flashlights. Two modes, bright leds. I use them all the time.
  15. I moved and split this topic. Sherry
  16. Thanks, John. I don't think many of us are fond of insects, as necessary as they are to our environment. All the measures I mentioned, except deet, which I apply only when necessary, are great for mosquitoes, chiggers, and sunburn, etc., as well. Today's technical clothing makes it much easier to protect and cover up, without keeling over from heat exhaustion . I know my photo wouldn't win any fashion awards, but that's the least of my concerns in the woods. 🙂
  17. I know you know mitigation measures, John, but I'll put it out here for new campers in our group, who may be more accustomed to urban environments. Decades ago, ticks were pretty much just an annoyance. Now, with diseases carried, we're all more careful. What I do: Long pants. Tucked into hiking socks. Spray clothing (not my skin) with deet, if it's season. Long sleeves. Tuck in your shirt. Stay out of long grass, and shrub when possible. Light colored clothing makes it easier to see the critters. A forester years ago told me khaki color is best. Shower daily. Ticks usually wander awhile before they find a sweet spot. A scrubbing shower will usually dislodge unattached wanderers. Check dogs frequently. Comb them. Medicate ahead if time. They're susceptible to Lyme disease, too. Though not likely, ticks can wander from them, to you. If you do find a tick, remove it carefully, properly, and promptly. You can keep it in a jar or zip lock for analysis later. In my years if camping and hiking, I've had some ticks attach, even being careful. Three on my dogs. Even if you're careful, it can happen. Not to panic. Not every tick is a disease carrier. But, it's best to limit exposure. I probably missed some ideas. Add away. Sherry
  18. Really nice! Thanks for sharing the coordinates.
  19. Jason, where would I find the app to download it and try it? Sherry
  20. I agree. Everything looks great.
  21. That's a really nice look, Mike. How did you attach the cornices? Are the constructed from light plywood?
  22. Welcome to the forum. Let us know how we can help. Sherry
  23. I "think" most of the interior of our Elite is around 6'1". The door will require ducking, but it's probably the same door on many trailers. I'll try to measure tomorrow. If the ac us in the same place as it is in our 2008, over the bed, mostly, it won't be a big deal. The shower may require "sitdown" for taller folks. Sherry
  24. This is close to the original twin bed configuration of the elite I, circa 2008/9. I remember the "desk" being a nightstand, and both bunks being +- 24 to 28 inches. It wasn't well received. The drop down table was awkward. The small dinette bed was really narrow, and 6' long. Ok for some but not for couples. I do think it's a terrific floorplan for solo campers. Hope it will be revived . Thanks, KenB, for the trip down memory lane, and thanks, DavidS, for the floorplan. Sherry
  25. I haven't looked for an app, But, the mobile version for phones and tablets, as I use, is far improved, at least in my opinion. Some buttons have moved a bit, but I can find them. Hope everyone else feels the same.
