  1. I believe the water heater and outlets are on different breakers. Just don't run two space heaters at one time. When we did this, it didn't trip the Oliver breaker, but it did trip the extension cord overload breakers while connected to home 20 amp circuit. Probably not a problem if you are connected to 30amp power with not extension cord.
  2. So . . . . we too were down to 26 degrees last night; our Oliver parked outside the house, connected to power. We ran an electric heater; the lowest temp I saw was right at daybreak, when the cabin temp reached 55. It was 26 outside (national weather service got that right on the money!). We did not drain our water heater, but the compartment was 36 degrees; same for the basement. We did leave the nightstand basement access door open. We hand pumped antifreeze into the fresh/city water inlets, also running it into the outside faucet. This is such an easy thing to do and good insurance for the water connections. Regarding the water heater (ours is Suburban), does anyone have an idea of the temperature where it becomes vulnerable to freezing when the cabin is heated? We did not drain ours or turn it on; maybe we should have.
  3. Thanks for the advice. . . . . . I'm ready for Springtime weather 😎
  4. We have a freeze warning for tonight - temps predicted at 27 degrees. We have our fresh and waste tanks drained, but have not winterized, a an oil filled heater running in the cabin and leave the basement access door open. Temperature sensors in the cabin read from 58-66 degrees; in the basement 39-48 degrees with nighttime temps at near freezing. Is it necessary to hand pump antifreeze into the outside ports, in anticipation of temperatures in the upper 20's tonight? If yes, would we just follow the winterization plan as listed in the Oliver manual, steps 20-27? We have not drained the water heater (Suburban) and it is not turned on.
  5. We have two of the "James" thingys. I have one on the pantry wall (Elite II) at the foot of the bed that I use for my cell phone - A Samsung 10 ( 3" x 5 3/4" in a case) fits perfectly. The divided section is perfect for keeping a pen handy.
  6. The high elevation cross across AZ and NM wasn't bad since it's generally drier there. We planned it to not stay overnight where the temps were in the teens overnight at Albuquerque then made it all the way to Kingman, AZ. We've found that northern AZ is more apt to get snow late Winter and early Spring. Nice to be back in the PNW, where we understand the weather better even if it does mean rain, and we do need the rain.
  7. Thanks . . . . . how about that Civil War game? . . . . Go, Beavers! Sorry, I couldn't resist 😇
  8. Good to be back home . . . . 2+ weeks on the road, half of it in hotels and eating out of a cooler was exhausting.
  9. Our remote display seems to be fully functional . . . . . . . shows the cryptic flow chart icons
  10. We chose to cross over to the coast through Needles/Barstow; weather north from Las Vegas and across the mountains looked a little iffy.
  11. We opted for the standard awning. I'm impressed with how robust it is, compared the the pathetic Carefree awning we had on our camper van.
  12. Not to mention the beautiful clear waters of the PNW . . . . !!!
  13. Amazing . . . . looks like something from a fairy tail.
  14. Glad to see they have their sign up. It wasn't there when we took delivery December 7. . . . Great folks, the Oliver team!
  15. I ordered two of these: one is in the bathroom for toothpaste, etc. The other at the foot of my bed for my cell phone. Also got the toothbrush holder, the set of two hooks - one by control panel by the door for keys, and the soap dish that is on the wall above the bathroom mirror where it is out of the way. Love these Tooletries - especially how easy they are to relocate. If they weren't so expensive I'd probably have more. Also attached is the paper towel holder. I've attached it with command strips until I decide the location is right.
  16. I wish there was an option on the forum to save a topic, other than saving it with a browser bookmark. Would choosing to "follow" achieve this?
  17. Our inverter remote began working again. We were traveling, connecting to shore power each night; I don't recall how many 120v connections had occurred when the remote came back to life. It has not quit working since the initial episode, which was two or three days into our trip. Edit: Several days later; "20" code is back.
  18. Thanks for the pictures; very helpful. So. in the bypass position, the valve points to the rear of the trailer, toward the bypass line and out toward the center of the trailer in normal position? Did I look at the Winterization section of the manual? Oops . . . . there it is!! One day, I'll learn 😀
  19. Thanks for investigating for me. Being accustomed to Google Maps, both on the computer and in my car's GPS - 2015 BMW X5 navigation is based on Google Maps. What is really nice about this is that I can create trips at home, on the computer, and send them to the car or phone.
  20. We have an older F-350 (2013) with no in-dash navigation, just a regular satellite/am fm radio/CD player. We found a CD slot mount works well since the CD player is just below the dash. Had to purchase a 1"ball. I'll share a picture when I get the chance to take one. @topgun2 I knew, as soon as we paid full price for the 890, there would be a price drop! Couldn't wait, though as we needed it to get us to Hohenwald to pick up our Elite II. The Garmin worked great; did a great job of keeping us going the right direction. I do still need to practice some with the features as I know we aren't taking advantage of them all. One thing I can't seem to get is how to select an alternate route. Garmin seems to want to pick one with no options to redirect. Perhaps someone can clue me in as to how to do this. The only way I've had success is to break the trip up into small segments with destinations along the route we prefer.
  21. I thought I would take notes during our walk through, but did I??? Neither my husband or I can find the bypass valve for the Suburban water heater. Can someone with a newer Elite II tell us where to look. Ours is a 2021. Thanks!
  22. Traffic has been great, with the exception of Oklahoma City. Weather, better than to be expected this time of year. However, westbound on I-40 today, we were on the southern edge of a winter storm that brought snow across the Central Panhandle area as well as northern New Mexico and Arizona. Fortunately we were a few hours ahead of the snow, but experienced ferocious wind (worse than coming across Wyoming and Nebraska at the front end of our trip). Winds from Albuquerque all the way to Flagstaff were steady at 25-35 mph, gusting to over 50! But, Pearl handled it like a pro - much better than some of the motorhomes we passed. I was worried they were going to shut the Interstate down, the winds were that bad, but we made it safely to Kingman, AZ where we are spending the night. In light of the prediction of continued wind and nighttime temps in the teens along our intended route through Western Nevada, we've decided to continue west on I-40 and make our way north to home (Oregon) via I-5. Not the most scenic way to go, but the weather will allow us to complete our trip home without Winterizing! I promise I'll post pictures once we get Pearl settled in her new home.
  23. I don't remember where I bought this as we've had it for several years. Hung on the face of the Elite II bathroom cabinet with a suction cup hook, It is perfect for drying small items. When not in use, it collapses into a small size and stores in the bathroom cabinet. Not sure this would work in an Elite.
  24. Haven't had time to take many vanity shots of Pearl; 11 days on the road, preparing meals in hotel rooms, and transferring our gear from the back of the pickup to the trailer have been exhausting. Here is one quick shot at our campsite in David Crockett SP. I know, not too exciting. The park is wonderful and we found Tennessee to be beautiful, despite the trees all being bare. Trip report: I was apprehensive, driving cross country this time of year, but we've certainly been fortunate. The journey from Oregon to Tennessee was amazing. There was barely any traffic on I-80 and, although it was cold and we experienced a few snow flurries in Missouri and some wind coming through Wyoming, the weather has been great. We are now headed west, taking the I-40 route to Nevada then north to Oregon via Hwy 365 and I-5. Current weather forecasts don't predict any snow; perhaps a shower around Susanville, CA. Looks like clear sailing! We will get some practice dealing with cold temperatures, but I believe we can manage without completely winterizing, just draining the hot water tank during travel time from Flagstaff through the Sierras. While camped at David Crockett SP, nighttime temps were in the mid 20's, but were able to maintain 40 deg temps in the utility area with the furnace or an electric space heater. Our plan is to pass through from Albuquerque to Kingman and not overnight in northern AZ where temps will drop to the teens at night. Daytime temperatures are expected to be mid 30's to upper 40's. The only other questionable area will be crossing the Sierras around Susanville. Will be watching the weather forecasts daily.
