Recommendations on Dehumidifiers ?
Ray and Susan Huff replied to BorninPalatka's topic in General Discussion
We have used these in all our RVs while parked, in cooler weather and they work very well - two or three inside and one in the basement. However, they are not great for use while the RV is occupied. 1. They are messy 2. They are not intended to remove the amount of moisture that collects overnight from respiration and cooler temperatures. We are looking for a good solution to keep condensation at bay while camping during colder weather, as we will be doing on our way home to Oregon from picking up our Oliver on December 7. -
Recommendations on Dehumidifiers ?
Ray and Susan Huff replied to BorninPalatka's topic in General Discussion
The dehumidifier mentioned about is not currently available on Amazon. However, this one is. Looks like the same specs. Anyone have experience with the Ivation 13-pint unit? https://www.amazon.com/Ivation-13-Pint-Small-Area-Desiccant-Dehumidifier/dp/B07B8SCPZ4 Power draw is 280w (low)/470w (high). Will this restrict use to only when on shore power? We ordered our Oliver Elite II with the lithium pro package. -
AC power in trailer via shore power on Xantrex only
Ray and Susan Huff replied to Ray Kimsey's topic in General Discussion
Or is the surge protector cutting off power? Is there an error code on the Progressive Dynamics surge protector display? (probably in the attic) Maybe ground fault or low voltage error. -
Doesn't hurt to ask . . . . . but that might be considered a custom order . . . . . we were fortunate to find an Oliver owner who had purchased extra back cushions (Flannel Fabric upholstery) then decided they were too much of a bother to carry. When we toured their Elite II, they offered them to us at considerably less than Oliver wants for just two back cushions. Post a "looking for" ad in the classified forums; you might get lucky!

We have a red leather down filled sectional at home. When our grand-dog stays with us, I have to remember to flip up the cushions at night 😊

The performance of the solar option will depend on which battery setup you choose. We plan to use a small portable generator for cases when extra power is required, but with the lithium option installed, I'm not sure how much it will be needed; probably just for A/C. Our previous RV had 200w of less-than-efficient flexible solar panels (Go Power) attached directly to the roof. This setup, with two 12v flooded batteries, did little, except keep the batteries topped off even with no inverted power usage. In our case, a majority of our camping was in shaded forest campgrounds. I expect the rigid panels on the Oliver to be more efficient with nearly twice the capacity; and lithium batteries will charge much quicker. The trade-offs are: setting up and taking down the solar panel vs deploying a small portable generator fuel dependency; gas vs solar - pros and cons to each noise - solar, no; generator, yes. Many campgrounds have quiet times - but usually these coincide with periods of little to no sun. Boon docking - few noise restrictions unless you're in Walmart/Cracker Barrel and other such parking lots; rest areas/truck stops probably ok. I think a portable generator is more versatile as it can also be used at home for emergency power outages.

If installed in this position, is the cord long enough to wrap around something to take up slack, or do you need to use some sort of cable tie (terminology?)

I'm excited about adding some personal touches to our Oliver; my husband thinks I'm crazy sometimes, but he appreciates me, regardless 😁

Great option, too, if you ever decide to sell your Oliver, but then why would you do that?

We had Ultraleather in our camper van and liked it a lot. After 4 years of use, it still looked new; med-taupe color. We ordered our Oliver Twin with mattresses and ultra fabric dinette; Midnight decor - Grey Jay dinette cushions. We also purchased some extra back cushions from another Oliver owner in Flannel (dark grey) fabric that we plan to use as back cushions for a dinette sofa. As far as I know, the 2021 Oliver cushions are still reversible; someone please correct me if I am wrong. https://www.ultrafabricsinc.com/grey-jay $75/yard

The $299 upgrade price is for the Twin bed with mattresses instead of cushions. The only cushions you get with these options are the dinette seat x2 and back x2 Ultra Fabric upgrade prices for various floor plan options as per the 2021 price sheet: Standard Floor plan (standard cushions) - $949 Standard and Twin floor plans with mattresses - $299 Twin floor plan with standard cushions (twin cushions and dinette - $699 Twin with couch cushions (I'm assuming seat and back cushions on both beds) - $849 Twin with 1 couch and 1 KTT mattress - $649 I asked about additional cushions, just out of curiosity; two dinette seat backs in fabric were quoted at $500. I told Oliver this seems like a lot for2 standard size (not custom) fabric cushions, but was told it is still considered a custom order. I wanted them for side"arms" for transforming the dinette into a sofa, but not that badly. I found two appropriately sized 14"x24" feather pillows at Sierra Trading Post online for $20 each; these will also work as back cushions on the ends of the twin beds plus will add a touch of color. When I ordered there were 4 available. I wish I had ordered all 4; now they are gone!

HOW TO: Tire Pressure Placard
Ray and Susan Huff replied to John E Davies's topic in Towing an Oliver
From my re: "Oilver installs Cooper E rated 10-ply nitrogen fill tires. The size is 225/75/R16." Didn't give me specific tire name. -
We don't have our Oliver yet, but ordered the cell booster as we camp a lot in marginal signal areas. Next I'd say, the microwave oven delete in lieu of an additional pantry. We don't use a microwave much when camping; would rather have the extra cupboard for larger items. And (yet to be determined) with the door in the open position will make a great place for dish draining or prep area - might have to put something under the open door to level it.

Anyone else watch the Tesla Cybertruck launch?
Ray and Susan Huff replied to SeaDawg's topic in Towing an Oliver
There are 6 chargers in the parking lot at the 101/Hwy 42S junction at Bandon. I've yet to see a car plugged in there. I know of one Tesla in Bandon and one in our hometown, Myrtle Point, 25 miles away. -
I don't know about getting the document onto the forum, but if you are a member of the Oliver Trailer Owners FB group you can save it in the "Files"

Thank you for the suggestions. Zip ties are great things!

We use the "do and then visual check off" method which often catches something missed. I secure the inside; my husband the outside; then we check each other's work! I do like a check list for the more important things (those that will cause damage if neglected) and items that are easily left behind. It helps me to do everything in the same order each time; less apt to forget something. Also, make a final sweep of the campsite for items that might be left behind.

If we decide we need a privacy curtain on the door window, I'm going to come up with some sort of Velcro attached shade that can be quickly hung and removed.

We often camp where wind is common. Our previous RV (Leisure Travel Van) door had a gas strut that only allowed it to be open to 90 degrees (which is not ideal). Because the wind could easily break the strut, we installed a simple nylon web strap to the D-shaped grab handle on the interior of the door latch to hang on to while opening the door. It appears the Oliver has a different latch, but maybe there is some way to attach such a safety strap. The disadvantage to the gas-strut opening is that you have the tendency to let loose of the door and let the strut open it, thus you have no way to prevent damage to the strut if the wind forces the door open. With the Oliver's free swinging door, the tendency will be to hang on to the door as you exit; maybe I'm wrong, though since it's been a long time since we've had an RV with a door that doesn't have the gas strut.

Very odd MaxxAir vent installation in an Aliner
Ray and Susan Huff replied to John E Davies's topic in General Discussion
My SIL has an A-Liner. I'm going to check out the vent! -
I believe Oliver is now installing the Maxxfan on 2021 models.

Did a search, but not finding the discussion you mention. How did you attach the aluminum brackets to the door frame? Edit: I found your post on the bar installation.

We purchased the plug protector, but our 2021 Elite II will not have the storage basket. Where might be a good place to install?
