l had mine done in the summer of 2022. It was a bit early, but since I was going to Oliver for the AC retrofit I asked them about doing a touchup. So we did...significantly less expensive, but still a long day for them. Just wish I'd been able to do it after the AC install and maintenance. When I got home...1000 miles, I just needed to wash off the front of the trailer. Pretty awesome. When I picked up my trailer from Service last Friday I was watching as they pulled it out. I heard a huge bang and wondered what broke. Jason saw me look and said that was normal. When then lift them for maintenance they'll often flip and going over the dip exiting the service bay they flip back...loudly. 😉

FWIW, I bought the Tractor Supply pin way back when. Managed to bend the handle on a tight turn, but it still worked...though the pin seemed really snug. While having my AC replaced with a Truma I spotted a similar pin on the accessories shelf in Service, but it didn't have as big a handle and I think the diameter may be a hair less than the Tractor Supply model...seemed to make hooking up a bit easier. Very happy with it.

Just had retrofit done......love the lack of an AC impersonating jet engines in the Oliver. I can't imagine not getting the Truma in a new trailer, for resale value alone.

He keeps talking about retiring. ;-(

Something to seriously consider is buying now, given the relative abundance of late model Elite II's on the market now. You might want to consider shopping now as I've seen a range from under $50K, to a killer deal on a brand new, fully optioned one the owners had to let go. In May, 2021, the few that showed up disappeared within 48 hours. So buying now is allows you to shop by budget and/or equipment...and based on values over the last year or so, buying new in two years isn't going to be less expensive, and used prices likely won't drop much, but selection may. If you haven't already, check out the Classifieds here and the FB Olivers Trailers For Sale page. Most are duplicates, but can vary a bit....along with the oddball listing on RV Trader.

Thanks everyone. The list of places is overwhelming, but reflects the history and density of the area. Will be a good scouting trip for future travels in any case. Franklin as a base camp is looking appealing.

Thought I'd revisit this as my travel date is approaching...fwiw, traveling solo. The week the Oliver is in for service, I'm essentially doing a four-night mattress run for Marriott nights. I know I'll visit Lebanon, as I went to school there my senior year, beyond that I'm trying to get a sense of distance for day trips...TN is a bit more compact than Texas. Without any real objectives, does it make sense to just book four nights in Columbus or Franklin and do day trips into Nashville and surrounding areas, or get more centrally located in Nashville. Lots of Nashville stuff to see, but also finding other places outside the metro. I'd book each night a day out, but rates pretty much double if I do that. This is kinda like building a systems application with no user requirements, but just thought I'd throw it out again to the hive here. 😉

Bright Way BWG DC24-6 So look to be six volt, sealed lead acid. Unfortunately, they won’t work for either of my friends’ rigs. Though I still need to measure the Casita box as the 6v are shorter. Trying to figure out what I’d use them for around the house. A very tiny ‘ Powerwall’. 🙂

I'll take another look. Before I sold it to her, I had to clean out the battery box and refinish it a bit after the existing battery dried up and cracked open due to non-use and a hard freeze. Pretty snug, but worth a Casita search.

They aren't dead, so mostly would just like to continue their use vs recycle them at this point. Wish my other friend could use in her Casita, but it takes a single 12v.

I’m going to to the mothership in late August to get a bunch of work done, including lithium upgrade. My four lead acid are still reasonably good I think and a friend could use two of them. While I could haul them home, she needs them sooner vs later. So, is it feasible to run with one or two for three days, with minimal draw? Best way to do it?

He’s kinda hard to find traditional ways, no dedicated FB page or website, but all over Oliver pages and at the factory. Tried to link to catalog, but old link.

I was the second Oliver that Truma tried to do an install on. We couldn't get the unit off the roof and didn't want to risk damaging the fiberglas. Since then Oliver has done a number of them and seems to have worked out any bugs and established a pretty complete conversion, i.e., new fiberglass platform for the AC, a couple of thermostat options, etc. I'm scheduled for the end of August, but I keep bugging them, hoping someone cancels a scheduled service sooner. If not doing it real soon, you might keep track of the new Dometic low noise AC, mentioned here and elsewhere. May be more plug and play.

Craig, sidebar question. I just noticed you stayed with the Xantrex 2000 vs the 3000 the factory installs. Just didn’t want to mess with it? Im not sure of the functional impact other than limitation on number of items being run at once?

FWIW, I run Dometic AC on 20amp circuit at home without any apparent issues.

A bit of insurance trivia, but you can have the Oliver on your (USAA) auto policy as a trailer, but that's where you end up with Actual Cash Value (ACV) coverage...just like your car. Getting a standalone policy for an Agreed Value either directly with Progressive ( or Progressive through the USAA General Agency) or other carrier remains the way to go. Other than major collision, fire or badly flipping one, like someone experienced on here, it would take a lot to total an Oliver, I expect. You can play with deductibles a bit also, you may be surprised that the premium difference isn't that great between deductibles. The downside of a low deductible is the tendency to want to claim against it...and claims frequency will come back to bite you over time, i.e., pre-requisite to a non-renewal letter. Location is the big premium driver, so comparing to other's premiums doesn't have a lot of value.

Progressive writes an Agreed Value policy. It's not replacement cost, but if the trailer was totaled they would pay the policy limit. You don't want an ACV policy on a Oliver...or be prepared to justify your perceived value at the time of loss.

I used Progressive via USAA/General Agency my first year. Year two I saw a 20% increase. After getting on the phone with Progressive it became apparent that first year was discounted and a new policy issue could have three different premiums depending on whether you used USAA/Other Insurance Company/Broker, the web or called and had a rep issue the policy. I ended up cancelling the USAA renewal and generated a new policy with Progressive. Not sure what I'll do this year, as I think the policy renewed while I was traveling. Looks like it increased and renewed at $1600 for $65K agreed value coverage in Texas. Deductible decreases 25% each year you are claims free. Premiums will vary by state/location.
