  2. Well, darn. I don’t have the 5,200 lb axles. I’ll be in to see Ron after our Arizona trip in January for our annual bearing repack and brake check. Maybe he can figure out a way to upgrade our brakes which have between 80 and 90K miles. Mike
  3. Did your 30a breaker look like this (black thing on the right), or did you just look in the fuse box? I don’t know where it would be located in an Elite, but it’s got to be under the dinette seats or bed on the street side. If it is popped, the little button on the top is up and the little wing is out. Just push the wing back in and you’re set to go. This is one of mine during a re-cabling project a couple of years ago when I replaced my AGMs with Lithium. It’s a 60a, but the 30a looks just the same. Here’s one that is popped. See the little wing out and the button on top up. Push the wing in.
  4. We spent part of this past October in Cumberland Mountain State Park, just outside of Crossville, TN. There are 5 camping areas, we started in area 4 but moved to area 5 after one night. Area 5 is at the top of the hill and is a newer area. There are 4 or 5 FHU sites in area 5. We had W/E. Our site in area 4. Older, lots of trees and shade. Our site in area 5. Nicely spaced with a view of the sky! Campground chef. Checking out the fall color.
  5. One of the main drags at Dome Rock, Olivers congregating, owners in the middle of the avenue exchanging information. Grocery shopping in town. Sunset in the desert. Hiking up to Dome Rock. You get to pick your own spot. Here we are next to the Outlaw Oliver #050, @ScubaRx I’m
  6. Yes, Dome Rock is the spot. If you exit I-10 where the Love’s is and then continue on the access road west on the south side of the freeway a few miles you’ll get to the Dome Rock area. It’s a big chunk of desert but easy to drive around looking for other Oliver owners. We’ll be in Arizona in January as well, not sure if/when we might visit Quartzsite. There should also be a bunch of other fiberglass trailers there as well. I’ll post a few pics so you can get an idea of the area. Mike
  7. Your Bulldog hitch is bent? Are you able to hitch without much effort? Have you noticed anything odd looking? We have the standard 2” Bulldog and have been over lots of bumpy roads and way-to-large potholes and everything is fine. This is the first time I’ve heard of a bent hitch. What does service think might have happened?
  8. Put some paper or cardboard under your mattress, trace the curve and call it a day.
  9. The red Oliver (aka Jellybean) is owned by Brandi Shaffer and her husband who live here in San Antonio. She has posted pics, they’ve done quite a bit to restore it. Mike
  10. Wow! Nice job, suitably classy home for a classy Trailer!!
  11. What size Houghton are folks using in their Olivers?
  12. Boerne, TX this morning: unleaded $2.64, diesel $3.99.
  13. Are you looking at an ad on Facebook or here?
  14. There has been a lot of discussion on hitch height in the past few years….
  15. That’s about right. If I remember, my ball is just under 24” with no load. It drops about 1.5” when the trailer is lowered. It looks right from a distance. Tomorrow, I will be picking our trailer up for a trip starting Friday and will measure again for you. Mike
  16. Just drove by our local Quik Trip, diesel at $3.99. First time below $4 in a loooooong time.
  17. We used the Andersen for almost 6 years, 70-80K miles. There was some wear on the ball but not enough to be concerned about. I sold it when we got our 2500 and I believe the current owner is still using it with his Oliver, so it is going on 7 years. I did grease it occasionally. Andersen ball wear is not something I would worry about. Grease it, wax paper it, do it dry, it’s going to be fine based on our experience. Mike
  18. Diesel $4.09 here this morning.
  19. Does everyone who is experiencing this have the same thermostat?
  20. From what I’ve seen over the years, the number of owners who regularly camp in severe conditions is small. In the beginning that was probably just a few. As more and more trailers are built and sold that number is increasing, although still a small minority. Most of us that do camp in very cold weather do it for short periods of time because we don’t find that kind of cold enjoyable. Voicing these issues by those who like consistent cold weather camping is enlightening and I’m sure Oliver is noticing. Maybe these suggestions will result in meaningful cold weather capability improvements. Extra insulation in the right spots is not expensive. An HVAC expert could help re-engineer the heat/ducting design. It seems to be to be a cost effective way to increase cold weather capability. Mike
  21. Where I get gas (HEB Supermarket) regular is $2.65 and Premium is $3.29.
  22. Diesel was $4.19 here today in Boerne, TX.
  23. We use our Outland a lot. Good piece of camping gear. Mike
  24. Moving the magnet inside the dinette seat has made a big difference. We also used command tape and it has held well over the years.
