aaronorange Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Has anyone received a replacement burner from the Truma water heater recall? It's been nothing but crickets on my end from Oliver. I have emails and calls to Oliver but have received no response yet. I haven't used my water heater for months, and need to know if it is safe to use. I suspect they may have been closed due to all the recent storms. Hopefully, everyone is okay. Hull #1238 - Legacy Elite II, TB. TV 2017 Tundra TRD.
Dave and Kimberly Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) I contacted Oliver about 7~8 weeks ago and spoke with Jason (the new one) and we tentatively planned to do my recall repair at the rally. The biggest hold-up was simply getting the replacement parts from Truma. He asked me to call back a time or two in March to get updates on A) the parts status and B) whether Oliver was going to have a "Rally" repair team to do these repairs. Coincidently just today was the second time I've called them back and neither time have they responded one way or the other. I'm still hoping they can do it at the rally. Jason said the whole process was only 30~45 minutes at most. Ours is and always has worked fine with no indication of a problem... but with some extra caution and awareness I plan to use it until the parts are replaced. As I understand it the burner bracket "may come loose"... in certain situations. DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI Posted April 8 Posted April 8 They replaced my burner during annual maintenance visit in early March. I had scheduled this service in early February, and they set aside a burner for me. Galway Girl Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) Burners are shipped to Oliver, then they are shipped out to various repair shops as scheduled. Our replacement burner has just arrived at a local RV shop and we take ours in next week for the repair. The issue addressed is that in older units from Truma the burner tubes could drop out of frame due to road vibration. If that happens raw gas is injected into the burner area and cause faulty operation . Dave and Kimberly Posted April 8 Posted April 8 So , at least in my case and several others... they are taking care of the Truma recall repair at the rally. Jason has just called to confirm they have the parts set aside and that they will be taking care of it there. That is just great service from Oliver in my opinion! Can't wait to see everyone there!! 7 2022 Elite II, Hull #1097 Elli Rose 🌹 and she has the solar panels with the 390Ah lithium batteries. aaronorange Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 New burner installed yesterday 4/24/25 by David of Speedy RV in Benson AZ. Thanks for all the input! Hull #1238 - Legacy Elite II, TB. TV 2017 Tundra TRD.
TimD Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Had ours done today, hull #701. The unit which came out looked brand new. I think I'm going to salvage the igniters and possibly the solenoid. My shop billed an hour. On to the compensation phase of the project 😀 Tim
aaronorange Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Speedy RV charged me $50. David said it was half of his hourly charge. I was just happy to get things squared away and ready for travel. Our unit (1238) is a 22, so it was new looking as well. Hull #1238 - Legacy Elite II, TB. TV 2017 Tundra TRD.

Our Truma recall is being taken care this afternoon here at the rally as well 👍🏻. Yet another solid example of Oliver stepping up and doing all they can to take care of their customers/owners. Galway Girl Posted May 8 Posted May 8 (edited) Update: Our 2019 is part of the recall. Oliver shipped the new burner to a local repair center. Upon installation they found another issue with some internal parts and the unit would not pass inspection tests. Since our first unit had failed at year 2, and already been replaced due to a different manufacturer defect I re-connected with Truma and explained that we have had 2 water heaters, each with a different manufacturing defect. Truma didn’t hesitate and waived their normal warranty and shipped us a new water heater and door assembly. (Our door was warped from fires.) Our new unit has the new crimped burners with the loc tight on the burner feed line coupler. The tech putting in the unit forgot to install the controller wire and gas line grommet, but I was able to address those errors and test before our current trip. The old unit was requested returned by truma from the installer along with the un-used burner. So far so good on this 3rd Truma water heater.
