Going West! Random Thoughts on the Road

Yesterday I left home, driving North out of Southwest Florida (aka The Swamp) and to my great surprise, only 90 minutes out, I spied an Oliver heading South on Rte 17 into Nocatee! 
Thanks for the smiles! 

A decent day’s drive, in spite of the weather and traffic. Only one pit stop. Northwest Georgia today, and the OTT Mothership tomorrow. 
 

I love my Oliver.

We’ve traveled from San Antonio up through NM, CO, UT, NV, CA, OR, and WA.  We’re currently at Whidbey Island north of Seattle and we haven’t seen a single other Oliver in over a month!  Where is everybody?!?  Mike

We’re near Orofino, ID at The Pink House BLM campground. Leaving tomorrow (Sat.) away from the smoke that has been in this area for 2 days now. Great campground with full hookups for $18 ($9 for those with the senior pass). The Clearwater River is at the backside of the campground.

It was me! …. Hull 1060 

So far, I think I’ve seen 4 or 5 Olivers this summer (4 months on the road so far, but 3 of those months were in Wyoming)… and Bill is the only owner I’ve had the chance to actually meet! 
 

Does anyone know who owns “Our Escape Pod” and their hull number?

No ferry!  There are a couple of bridges across to the island.  It’s a different world here, for the last week the temperature has stayed between 52 and 62.  Quite a difference from triple digits in south Texas!

From the north -- I forgot about the bridge at Deception Pass State Park ... otherwise I only know of the ferries from Mukilteo (north of Seattle) and Fort Casey (from Port Townsend on the Olympic peninsula). I had the great fortune of spending six months on Whidbey Island and it was glorious.

 We came in at the state park, older narrow bridge but great views!  We’ve had a nice relaxing stay.

Sorry we’re not home in Everett to meet you.  If the  clinton to Mukilteo ferry is in your plans, consider lunch at Ivars in the Mukilteo waterfront.  When exiting the ferry take a right into the hwy, then a quick left at the next light  into the waterfront park parking.  You could have lunch at ivars ir visit the scuttle but brew pub.    We are in Hells Gate State park today.
